Went in for car AC diagnostic and repair. Chuck told me it was $2,200 to replace the compressor assembly, the compressor clutch (keep reading for more about this) and the expansion valve. He said my clutch "was gone. Its just gone!" LOL!! My reaction to this quote was shock. I knew I probably needed a new compressor but was not prepared for that. I say $600 would've been a fair price. Anyway he then proceeded to tell me his time was "valuable" and that he's been in the business for 50 years blah blah etc.. I told him I'll hold off on this for a bit as I needed to talk to my wife. So then I started digging... My cars compressor doesn't have a traditional clutch like most. It has a compressor control valve located near the back of the compressor. This is what cycles on/off allowing the flow of refrigerant. You think someone in the business that long would know that my compressor didn't have a traditional clutch... 99% of the time, this is the only thing that needs repaired with my car. Only a $40 part. I still ended up doing the whole repair for $275 myself. I replaced the compressor assembly(brand new with control valve), expansion valve, O-rings on the hoses, and even new drive belts. This cost also includes a manifold guage, a vacuum pump, new refrigerant and a few hand tools... Vacuumed everything down and filled er up with fresh refrigerant and PAG oil. Spent about 3 hours watching a few YT videos and about 2 hours total labor time. Easy as can be once you know what you're doing. Saved a ton of money and the air is blowing a steady 39° at the vents. Chuck did not charge me for the diagnostic service so I'll keep it neutral at 3 stars but definitely felt like that quote was outrageous.

Took my 2003 GMC Sierra in for 2 problems. The AC wasn't working and battery was going dead. AC fix $278, acceptable. I was told there were several circuits drawing current and fixing all of them would be cost prohibitive. So we agreed on a battery tender that i would need to plug in when the truck was parked. Again, acceptable. Well, the battery tender he installed is available at Advance Auto for $95. My cost $159. It was installed on a bracket IN FRONT OF THE RADIATOR with 2 tie wraps and cost for that was $118. I'll give him 2 stars because apparently the AC job is guaranteed. It will be interesting to see how I am treated if I have to go back for that.

Not a bad experience. Very friendly and fast service. However, they are a bit overpriced and they put an aftermarket cabin filter which whistled and strained the blower motor. I asked if they used an OEM part and they said yes but I confirmed they did not. I replaced the filter myself with OEM and all is fine now. I would recommend this shop but also recommend that you bring your own parts.

If I could give Chuck 10 stars, I would. I have never had a better experience with a more honest guy. He replaced the parts that needed to be replaced plus other small things without nickel and diming me. I typically work on my own vehicle and am always worried about taking my vehicles to an auto shop. I will gladly bring all of my maintenance to Chuck.
