Been going to Island for quite a few years, (including the original place on Fortenberry)....sadly needed to put 2 cats down within 4 days. They took me in right away and treated me with dignity and total professionalism. I recommend.

Front Office is typically rude and unhelpful (MI location), Techs are usually good and Doctors are usually good and thorough. Good luck getting an appoint that the front office doesn't screw up, and then when you get there they will most likely try n get you to let them just "take your dog in the back" without you. Why? So they can let their student staff practice? Or they're just too lazy to clean a room? So annoying -my dog is not a car that you just drop off for an oil change!

initially it was a couple of good experiences but towards my cat's end days they became INACCESSIBLE I 1st took Mochi in as he was inexplicably bleeding from the mouth & rectum. after extensive tests incl xrays and blood work they were still not sure what caused it. my Vet came out to inform me just to keep him comfortable and it was her guesstimate he had 4 days left well I got home and told my Mochi if u survive I give you my word I will take care of him til one of us passes 1st. he survived another 15-16 months after he became paralyzed that day I changed his diapers 4x a day and bathed him 4x a day as well but I loved him which it didnt feel like a burden whatsoever my only resentment towards this place is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get an appt in a reasonable manner regardless of the urgency, in my case it was tragic. now going on his 4th day of no eating and no bowel movement I tried repeatedly but all in futility to get him seen there. no luck so I was forced to go elsewhere and as a result, the Vet there IMO was negligent and sped up his demise as he passed the next day they should either add more Vets to their obvious overwhelming number of patients, or schedule appts based on URGENCY I held my Mochi til his last 3 breaths. on his 3rd and final labored breath, I put my cheek on his head and whispered its ok to let go and he did. my left arm was filled w/ his tears as he cried all nite

If you want personal service and a vet to get to know your pets, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU! I have my 3 golden retrievers under their care, having spent thousands with them over the past year with these dogs and a litter of 10 puppies. One of my dog has a yeast infection in his ear which he has been treated for before. It's been right around 6 months since his last one. I called today to ask for a prescription for him without having to bring him in. they declined saying it's been more than 6 months, just barely. I have never seen the same vet twice in over a year and we've been there several times. This place is to big to provide personal care or to "work" with pet owners to help save a little money. We are going elsewhere. oh and when I told the receptionist I was taking them elsewhere she was very unconcerned. Maybe the business owner does care.

I’ve been Using Island Animal Hospital since 1974 under Dr. Sisserson, DVM! He Retired in 2015 & Island Animal Hospital was Purchased by Dr. Coris, DVM. I was initially Pleased with this Veterinarian’s Services. I began taking My Service Dog (My Rottweiler & My Daughter)! I’ve been Training & Working with Rottweilers For At Least 27 Years so, even though I’m Not A Veterinarian, I Believe That I Have A Great Deal Of Knowledge About This Breed Of Dog! In June, 22, I brought My Rottweiler (& Service Dog) To Island Animal Hospital Because She Had A Cough Like She Was Trying To Get A Hairball Out Of Her throat! She Was Exposed To A Puppy Mill Puppy Who Had Kennel Cough! Dr. Coris Confirmed That She Did Indeed Have Kennel Cough! My Rottweiler Also Has Had A Yeast Infection In Her Ears (as Did My Other 2 Rottweilers) For At Least A Year! My Other Two Rottweilers Had Yeast Infections But I Have Always Had Their Ears Flushed; Their Teeth Cleaned; & Their Nails Filed Down (this Is Absolutely Necessary Due To The Fact That The Quick Inside The Nails Of Rottweilers Grow Very Fast) & I Wanted To Avoid Her Nails Bleeding From The Clipping Or Filing The Nails!! Since My Rottweiler Was 8 Weeks Old I’ve Been Asking For The Sedated Procedure Described Above! I Have Been Refused Each Time! As I Stated Earlier, Dr. Coris Was Very Complimentary Of My Care Of My Rottweiler, & Due To Her Having Kennel Cough I Asked Him If My Rottweiler Should Have The Vaccine For Kennel Cough 12/09/22? He Said That She Did NOT Need This Vaccine Because She Had Kennel Cough Which Gave Her The Best Antibodies To Keep Her From Getting Kennel Cough Again! When I Saw Dr. Coris on 12/09/22 He Was Agitated That My Rottweiler Still Had A Yeast Infection! His Demeanor Had Changed Drastically From Being Supportive To Turning Into A Subjective VETERINARIAN To A Completely Disrespectful, Rude, Arrogant Person Who I Did NOT Even Recognize! He Spoke To Me Like A 4 Year Old, Insinuating That My Rottweiler Had NOT Been Cared For Properly By Me!?! He Actually Turned His Back To Me And Proceeded To Throw What I Can Only Describe As A “TEMPER TANTRUM”! He Was Also Angry About Her Nails And That He Had Tried Not To Hurt Her But He Said That 3 Of Her Nails Had Bled! As Dr. Coris Was Telling Me About This He, Again, Was Disrespectful And Insinuating That Her Nails Bleeding Was My Fault! Just 90 Days Earlier, Dr. Coris Said (& I Had My Roommate With Me Every Time) That My Rottweiler Did NOT Need The Vaccine For Kennel Cough, But During The December Annual Vaccinations Dr. Coris Told The Vet Technician To Give My Dog The Vaccine (Which Costs Nearly $200.00 Dollars)!?! So, Dr. Coris Had Lied About Her NOT REQUIRING THE VACCINE FOR KENNEL COUGH, 90 Days Before Her Annual Vaccinations, Or He Was Lying On 12/09/22 & Gave Her The Vaccine Just Out Of Some Kind Of Spite Or Punitive Punishment Towards Me! Now, Since I Asked About Changing Veterinarians I Received An Email From Dr. Coris Stating That He Would Continue Being My Rottweiler’s Veterinarian, & He Had The Unmitigated Gall To “RECOMMEND THAT MY ROTTWEILER HAD HER EARS FLUSHED, Teeth Cleaned, & Her Nails Clipped”??!? Not To Mention That I Have Already Spent Nearly $2,000 For The Last 6-7 Months, And I Pleaded With Dr. Coris To Give My Rottweiler The Ear Flush Treatment, etc. In His Email That I Received Today, Dr. Coris Wants ME TO PAY HIM ANOTHER $608.00 DOLLARS?!? I Feel Like I’ve Been Treated Extremely Poorly & I Find Dr. Coris To Be Extremely Unprofessional & Spiteful! I’ve Asked Repeatedly For Diamond (Coris’ Vet Tech) To Contact Me For Advice! I Am Still Waiting…

Very informative and great with my animals. Have everything we need in medicine for them. They take all the time we need to understand what is wrong and how to take care of them. They are a caring bunch of people.

Brought my sweet baby Bella in for what I didn't know would be the last time. Everyone took very good care of her. Sent us home with meds. Called back a few days to give an update and while on the phone with the Dr, Bella passed in my arms. The staffed advised me of what to do next. Brought her up their and the staff took Bella out of the hands and took great care of her. The whole process was amazing!!!! Wish I didn't have to have gone through it at all, but we all know that this time comes at some point in time. Thank you to the staff at Island clinic! Love from me and Bella!

I had to have my dogs stitches redone 3 times and had to do them once by myself. They of course said it was my fault. Each time they redid the stitches they charged me. So for crappy stitch work over and over I had to pay for it. They had me finally come in on stitch removal day 2 weeks later and lo and behold 2 days later after the removal, one of my dogs skin popped open really deep. Of course, it's my fault again and not theirs although I'm not the one who determined they should have their stitches removed. Just beware of the crappy stitch work they do at this location.

I called asking for a vet to call me, as my Boxer is walking on 3 legs after jumping after bugs. The receptionist was very adamant that X-rays would be needed for sure and the vet was too busy to make phone calls. In explained that I basically wanted him to run his hand down her leg and give me an opinion. The receptionist said they were not orthopedic veterinarians and she couldn't guarantee noticing a break without X-rays, so a call was not needed. I asked them to call anyway.. then I called another, more accommodating, vet.

I had an emergency for my fur baby. She is my everything - and I mean EVERYTHING. I live in orlando - and my normal vet was booked and all vets close at noon in Orlando. I was desperate- my parents recommended I call here to try and get my baby in. They took such good care of her- followed up with me as promised. I felt like they really really cared and understood how stressed I was about the situation. I LOVE that they have extended Saturday AND Sunday hours. Not something u find a lot of these days. I am So happy my parents recommended me this place to take my baby. She is my everything and I felt like their communication was top notch and understood how important she was to me. Super happy about coming here

Loved the care that tech amber and dr. Brady gave my dog Ziggy, my Aussie mix that has social anxiety. I take my two cats here as well! Amber was one of the most caring techs I've met and she answered all my questions and took special care of my golden boy!!

I brought my dog April, a 65lb labradane that was very nervous from a previous bad experience getting her nails clipped. We tried two other places to find a place that could help us with trimming her nails and not leaving her in a state of shock afterwards. Look no further if you too need a place that will treat your pet with care and kindness. This is your place! Thank you Christina for taking care of our gentle giant!

Dr. Coris is very compassionate & gentle w/my lil senior dog, Rudy. He's been there many times due to thyroid & adrenal & skin problems. Dr. Coris never seems to be in a hurry & explains things thoroughly....which I really appreciate. We've spent a lot of money there the past several mths. on Rudy. I was very surprised, however, @ the last bill which had a $41.00 charge for a "hospital stay" becuz Rudy was only there less than 2 hrs. When I questioned this item, I was told that techs had to go take care of him back & forth in the room he was in. I cannot imagine how much care he needed in 2 hrs. since he had to wait in between blood tests. Unfortunately, since I had to wait in my car, I have no idea how much care he received @ that time. I spoke to the office mgr... who explained the reason behind this charge.... however, this still was not reasonable...for less than 2 hrs of him being there & due to how MUCH money had already been paid to IAH over his past few visits. U wld think that the mere 2 hrs Rudy was there wld be absorbed by the monies already paid over the course of the past several mths...which was quite a bit. I know that Dr. Coris wld not charge this, & this is the reason why vets hire a financial officer to handle these charges. As one Tech told me..."It's automatically added onto the bill". This isn't right. Each bill needs to be looked over carefully to make sure nothing is added "automatically" as each visit is individualized to each pet's needs @ that time. I have no qualms about Dr. Coris, cuz he's great...just about the "automated billing". This needs to be looked @ & adjusted. Thank you!
