“Words cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Valencia at the Pet House Clinic. My dog was unexpectedly attacked by another dog, and he had two severe bite wounds on his shoulder and his chest I immediately called Pet House Clinic and even though they were about to close for the day, I was told to bring him right in. Upon arrival, Dr. Valencia so Teddy and assessed his wounds. She was able to clearly explain the nature of the bites, what the different outcomes might be, and how to care for him at home His injury required the office to stay open much later than usual. Dr. Valencia was so caring and concerned that she called me that evening to check on my dog’s progress I brought Teddy back to Dr Valencia three days in a row for her to check and clean out the wounds Fortunately, Teddy’s wounds did not become infected and he healed perfectly. I am so thankful to Dr Valencia for her knowledge, care and compassion. I also want to mention that her staff is outstanding and the office is spotless. I hope your pet never experiences an emergency but if they do, I could not recommend Pet House more highly. Teddy will now go there for all his vet needs.”

This Petco branch have friendly staff and customer service. They always have what I need, from food, treats, toys, clothing and accessories that you can have them delivered or pick-up at the store. There's a parking garage in the building so parking is not a problem. They also offer services like grooming. veterinary services, training, and pet adoptions. Check it out!”

“I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Gary, Alexis and Jessica at VCA Animal Hospital on Alton Road in South Beach.

Dr. Gary is the kind of veterinarian every pet owner hopes to find. He is honest, incredibly thorough, and you can genuinely tell how much he cares about the animals he treats. After Hobo’s blood work showed something small that he wanted to take a closer look at, he had us come back and performed a scan free of charge, simply because he wanted to be thorough and make sure every base was covered. That alone says so much about the kind of veterinarian he is.

Throughout the entire process, Dr. Gary walked me through everything. He showed me Hobo’s blood work, showed me the images from the scan, explained exactly what he was seeing, and took the time to make sure I understood everything. He tells you what he genuinely thinks while still being compassionate about the fact that, as a pet owner, hearing anything unexpected about your animal can be scary. I never felt rushed, dismissed, or left with unanswered questions.

I especially want to recognize Alexis, because he was such an important part of making what could have been an incredibly stressful day feel manageable and reassuring. From the beginning, he was patient, compassionate, attentive, and genuinely seemed to understand how worried I was about Hobo. He didn’t just do his job and move on — he took the time to talk to me, answer my questions, reassure me, and make sure I was doing okay throughout the process.

Alexis also shared his own experiences with similar situations involving his animals, and I cannot explain how much hearing that perspective helped me. There is something incredibly comforting about having someone caring for your pet who not only understands the medical side of what is happening, but also understands what it feels like to be the person on the other side of the exam table worrying about an animal you love. He spoke to me like a real person, not just another client, and his kindness genuinely made me feel so much better.

Even while Dr. Gary was explaining the results and showing me the images and blood work, Alexis remained supportive and reassuring. It felt like they were both invested in making sure I left not only understanding what we had learned about Hobo, but also feeling comfortable and supported. That combination of excellent veterinary care and genuine human compassion is incredibly special.

When you’re worried about your pet, the people caring for them matter enormously. Hobo is family to me, and I don’t take lightly who I trust with him. Dr. Gary and Alexis have absolutely earned that trust.

I walked in worried and walked out feeling informed, reassured, and incredibly grateful for both of them. If you’re looking for a veterinarian and veterinary assistant who are thorough, honest, compassionate, and who genuinely care about both their patients and the people who love them, I cannot recommend Dr. Gary and Alexis enough.

Jessica is one of the managers there (I believe that’s her position) and she’s very thorough and reassuring and detailed on the phone and very caring when discussing my upcoming appointment needs - and it was a pleasure to speak with her to plan all these visits to coordinate all of this. She even attended to me after hours during one call which was unexpected but very appreciated goes to show the extra miles that the staff of VCA will put towards your fur babies!

There is truly no other team than VCA South Beach that I would rather have caring for Hobo. Five stars doesn’t feel like enough for either of them. 🐾❤”
