Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park is a beautiful and well-maintained area offering a variety of outdoor activities. The park is known for its wildlife, including wild horses, bison, and alligators, which can often be seen grazing or lounging nearby. The park's landscape includes sweetgum trees, pickerelweed, and other native plants, creating a scenic Florida environment. There are hiking trails, some with boardwalks and paved paths, offering views of the marsh and the old Florida landscape, partly separated by the interstate. Restrooms are clean and well-lit, and the park provides a peaceful place to take a break from driving and enjoy nature. Very nice park to visit! We were looking for a park to visit in north central Florida and visited this one since it was near Micanopy (another scenic town worth visiting). We were pleasantly surprised at all the trails and sights at this park.
