Stopped by before heading back to Georgia this morning. Oftentimes, when we are on a weekend trip, it can be difficult to find really good local food. We happened upon Mama's by accident and figured to give it a try. It's outside of the touristy area so it's less busy. The restaurant is a quaint little spot in an unassuming shopping center. The food is excellent. Service is excellent. I opted for coffee and Banana's Foster with Bangers as a side. As you can see, plated to perfection, flavorful, and actually lighter than you'd expect. We didn't notice until we were walking out, but they actually have merch by the door; coffee mugs, tshirts, etc. noted for a future visit. ?

Initially, I would have given this place a 3.5 or 4. We ordered two bennies, one came out over boiled and the other the perfect, ooey gooey egg yolk you expect. We mentioned this to the waiter, they were so happy to fix the overcooked eggs. 3 minutes later, there were fresh eggs delivered. The extra star is awarded for accepting a concern and righting it so quickly. Thanks so much Mama! The time difference between overbooked and ooey gooey is seconds. Thanks again!

I saw online that Mama is no longer there and you can tell. I've been coming to this place for a few years now, it's one of my go to brunch spots when I'm in town.Sadly, Mama Clemenza sold the place and it didn't have her touch her flair and big personality. It might be her recipes but it's definitely not European anymore!!!Sadly I won't go back, I didn't want to hurt the servers feelings, I said just like before but it's not.And what's the point of going if Mama isn't in the kitchen anymore, authentic European food by a European lady was the whole point of this restaurant. My favorite dish had stale bread and the sauce was way to thick, it was good just not amazing that you want to finish your plate.I left food because well it just wasn't great. When Mama made it, you wanted to lick the plate.Sad it's the end of era...

We used to love coming here every year! The food has gone down .. can’t be same ownership! The server we had Friday might be the main reason we don’t come back! She was so loud! She yelled just taking your orders & so touchy! I don’t want her hand on my back when she adds more coffee to my cup or called honey or sugar! Why does she have to yell?!! This used to be a place they were happy to see you, super nice servers.. manager/ part owner would come around & chat! Like a cheers but for breakfast! Not anymore & probably won’t be back next trip to Flordia!

Steak was so over cooked. Kids pancakes had no flavor. Prices seem a bit much for the atmosphere. 3 pieces of bacon $8 glass of oj $6... Waitress was nice.

Excellent service, fantastic creative food. I had the cheese blintzes, which were the best I’ve had. My dining companions had the Cajun andouille bowl with grits and the quiche- everyone was raving.

In addition to the phenomenon food what sets this place apart is the phenomenal service! You can tell the owners worked in the service industry for years, and they took that hospitality and have hidden graded it into this business. Although they have healthy options, Get your dieting out of the way so you can try the chicken cinnamon roll THANG!!! Definitely an experience to remember. Tips 1) they usually have a seasonal dish; TRY IT 2) it's Italian food, but cooked by folks who know how to season Food 3) look at the board outside; the Chef commonly has special items not in the regular menu or seasonal. 4) Don't except the food you see online to be the only dishes they have and vice versa; that change things up quite a bit .... In a good way 5) Independent small business owner: SUPPORT THESE FOLKS!!!!

I had told my husband since Day #1 of being in Destin and reading the local magazine that I wanted to enjoy Mama Clemenza's for breakfast. We pulled into the parking lot on a Friday morning close to 9:15 am and it is empty. It is off season so I am thinking GREAT, no crowds. We walk in the front door and there is one party of 2 having breakfast. No one greets us for at least 4 minutes. Finally the guy working the tables and host area comes out of the kitchen and says Hi. He directs us to a table right next to the other deuce. We walk ourselves to a table a few spots away from them. The banquette seating is hard and uncomfortable but we stay there. The famous $8 cappuccino is not memorable at all. Then we have the espresso biscuits delivered to us and they are like a chocolate cookie with sea salt that continues to harden as it sits for a while. This is one of the main reasons I wanted to try Mama's and these espresso biscuits truly disappointed me. My breakfast was good but for $17 I should be able to ask for a side other than grits with my croque madame. The menu reads that the entree comes with the chef's side dish selection. I mentioned that I have disliked grits my entire life and asked if I could get the roasted potatoes they mention on several other dishes. I am told NO. He tells me there are no substitutions and that this is a free side dish from the chef, hence no substitutions. The grits were pasty and salty. My husband had the $22 eggs Benedict that was made with Yorkshire pudding as the base. It sounds interesting so he gets it. The flavor is excellent however the base of the pudding does not absorb the yolk or the succor this dish. PLUS he cannot choose a side of fruit or potatoes as his side ... he also dislikes grits. Our server never came back and asked if our meal was tasty. He never refilled my water (a co worker who came out of the kitchen did so). He sat behind the bar area reading something on his phone or in a book. I wanted to be asked how things were. I would rather allow the establishment to hear from me right then and there. No one asked. They took our $66.90 for a very substandard breakfast. I will never be back nor recommend Mama's to anyone.
