Smitty and crew do amazing work, for a great price. Had my new engine delivered on a Wednesday and had my car back to me that Friday. Insanely fast for a major job like that.
I spoke with Smitty for a good 20 or so minutes while picking it up, and I immediately could tell this wasn’t just a business to him, but a passion.
Over 50 years of experience alone, he knows how to hire, and Happy and team are all incredible. These guys set the standard for a mechanic shop, and then immediately exceed it.
He is also very well connected in the mechanic scene and knows how to get you quality parts and do quality work for a genuinely surprisingly reasonable price.
The wall of his office is covered in certificates that he and his team have earned, and he’s active on the floor making sure his guys learn to an expert level like he did himself.
Cannot recommend them enough, they saved my vehicle, got me an engine with 30k less miles than the one they initially found and kept the price the same, and did the whole job in a couple days all while working on a whole fleet of cars.
All the work is warrantied for a year, and you most likely will not need that warranty as of the 6 or so jobs he’s done between me and my roommate, there have been zero issues since.
I wouldn’t have written the book of a review if I didn’t have so many good things to say, and I could keep going. Never before have I had such trust and good communication with a mechanic. Straight to the point, honest, and don’t hit you with a list of additional things that “need replacing” like we’ve all experienced a time or two before.
To close, shop around all you’d like, that’s never a bad thing to do, but I have a good feeling you’ll end up at Smittys not only for the price, but the confidence in knowing things will be done right.

I was told they were a good repair shop, unfortunately I had a bad experience. I needed a new engine and they claimed they found one right of way once I paid a down payment they would get the engine, after I paid the down payment it took 3 months for them to get the vehicle back to me on top of that they have no loaner car so I had to take Uber or rely on friends. After a few weeks the vehicle was stalling at stop lights , they never changed the plugs or wires so when I took it back to them they said it would be another $700 . I had another mechanic look at it and again they claimed Smitty’s was a good repair shop but they said there was an intake leak and an oil leak. When I took it back to smittys they confirmed the oil leak and would call me back to schedule fixing it and never called me back or returned my call . After a few weeks they finally called me back and indeed fixed the oil leak at no charge, but it has stalled on me a couple of times.

I live in Eustis and heard about the shop. When I first went there I wasn’t sure as it is a couple of bays in a warehouse. Well they did an excellent job of replacing a seized engine in my 2014 Equus at an affordable price. Now I returned again February 2025 with my 2017 Jaguar XJ . Once again they did a fantastic job. Car is purring. If you want an honest evaluation and top quality work go there.

Brought my 2016 Golf R in to get the Haldex and DSG serviced. Also had them replace the water pump as it appeared to be leaking. I was shown the crack in the water pump to confirm the service was also needed. The team there not only communicated before doing the service but also sent me both quotes with and without that service. Bottom line, I would highly recommend taking your vehicle here to get worked on as they were completely upfront about everything, were quick to notify me if anything changed and performed great work. Thank you!

Found this place on the internet. Old-school, real mechanics. They worked on my old Jeep CJ-7 on short notice and made expert repairs in one day for a fair price. It’s nice to know that there is a great, honest, expert mechanic in the area.

We found Smitty's Auto online after looking at the reviews. I can tell you that from start to finish, everything was 100% positive! All of the staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Mr. Happy was incredible and had our car done in 1 day!!! (AC compressor replacement and oil change). You can tell that they are really out to help people and are upfront and truthful about services you really need versus the upselling you usually find elsewhere. I think you can tell a lot about the business when you see lines of people waiting to drop off and pick up, and the staff knows them all by name. My family will 100% be using Smitty's Auto from now on! Excellent place and incredible service!

I was in a real bind. While traveling from Orlando to Steinhatchee, my water pump decided to blow while passing through the Mt. Dora area. I was stuck on the side of a rural road, late on a Friday afternoon with few options. I called multiple shops however Smitty's was the only shop that was willing to have my 2012 Ram 1500 towed to them. Come Tuesday afternoon they had the truck all repaired back to working order.
They really could have run me through the ringer and I would have had little choice. However these guys did me right, with exceptional, & punctual service. I really can't say enough here to express how much these guys really helped me out when I was in a real bind. While I hope I'm never broke down in the area again, I'd do business with them again without question.

Smitty and Happy were very kind and hard workers, they got the job done beautifully! I highly recommend them for their professionalism & quality of work. The prices for new tires and synthetic oil change can't be beat!
