When you are a small space, you better be inviting to your customers and have a WOW factor.HERE, it is not the case.Since there are no drinks, etc., is there a picnic area or seating for those families or adults on an outting.I read you are receiving a grant.I hope you make this a go to place for the community.I recently asked 25 people in the area what is their opinion of MOCA. Their responses:A. What is MOCA?B. Is it still opened?C. Are they putting it under ground? .....??D. Great JazzE. Is it Arts and Crafts?F. What artists are there now? This is too great of an asset for the community for the community not knowing MOCA'S role, purpose, mission. From an Art Lover

Just so so, space inside is so so, the collections are so so, the gift shop is below par, staff is so so. Someone needs to make this place have the wow factor. Even small spaces can grab you. The exhibit by the young man who died of lukemia is touching

It’s a nice small museum, they have discount for the elderly and for residents. There’s a small museum store for souvenirs.

Wonderful experience. There was a discount if you use BOA cards. A lot of collections that focus on florida local history, women power and black cultures. The sandstone sculpture collection intertwined with the global environment responsibility, music and personal memoir. Loves the texture of vintage quilts, the stories how the reflection on death and ocean inspired the artists.

BEWARE RUDE, DISCRIMINATING AND KIDS' UNFRIENDLY VENUEWe have visited this museum with 3 kids (6, 8 year olds and 6 month old) today.L2:Although we have stayed behind faded (almost invisible lines) and warned our children to stay behind the lines, staff member on L2 has suggested that we better off going to the next level as there is one artwork that can be touched by kids. Facial expression, tone and the message showed how unwelcome we were as ethnical minorities or parents with young children.L3:As we went up to the next level young lady has shouted at us to stay behind the line. I have informed her that as she can see we have not crossed the line (again the line was faded). She has ignored my feedback and as we continued to discuss the piece of artwork, she shouted at us again and again in front of other patrons that we should not cross the line. I have repeated to her that as she could see we have not crossed the line, however she continued treating us with utmost disrespect and called her manager. Her manager said that her staff member does not agree with our feedback about the staff member and hence he will disregard it.At the same time after shouting at us the first time the lady has kindly offered to provide background to the artwork to men with Caucasian appearance and was very kind and respectful with them.Management of the museum shall consider metrics to prevent staff discrimination of ethnic minorities and parents with young children.Feedback on the content of the museum:a) space is not well utilized, i.e. there are handful of exhibits and very few eye-catching ones.b) there is no background as to meaning of the artwork/ideas conveyed by the author.c) names of paintings are not clearly identifiable if present (due to staff attitude noted above we did not have a chance to read description until the end as we were rushed to leave each Level).d) some content may be interpreted as depicting extreme violence (murdered pregnant female).e) there are no activities for kids supporting their interest in arts unlike most of other museums. This further supports how unwelcome kids are in this museum.

I always visit the MOCA when I am in Miami. They always have interesting exhibitions. Also this time the exhibition was interesting. Yes it is a small museum, but always worth a visit. PS: staff was not friendly this time, what a pity… maybe a bad day….

A pleasant experience. A neat art gallery with a monthly live jazz show. In last night's case, we were treated to a performance from The C. L. Experience. We had a wonderful night doing something different from our usual routine. An overall positive experience and a great time out.

It’s a nice place, I went on the first weekend of march and I use my Bank of America card to get a free entry. (BofA has arrangements with some museums and they are free during the first weekend of every month). I think is more of a gallery than a museum, there are only two rooms for exhibitions, but they where interesting.

I visited Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) on a Sunday afternoon. The staff greeted me and was very friendly and knowledgeable. One of the employees, perhaps the manager, described each of the 3 current exhibit. Entrance fee is free for Bank of America customers the first full weekend of the month. I was able to find free and convenient street parking on NE 8th Avenue. The 3 current exhibits are Leigh Gordon, Kanaval a chronology of Haiti's carnival; Dider William and the Victory Garden, which was the reason for my visit. The Victory Garden, in the museum's Paradise Courtyard, is an inspiration to find solutions to food scarcity. You are given a paper bag and encouraged to ship some herbs. Basil, culantro, tomatoes and oregano were just a few plants in the garden.Current hours, according to their website are Mon & Tue, closed; Wed. 12-7; Thur. - Sun. 12-5. Admission is $10 for adults, free for children under 12, veterans and North Miami employees and residents. I would plan on spending 1 -2 hours at the museum.I recommend a visit to MOCA

Miami is a tourist-driven city with many outstanding museums that are go-to destinations for visitors. In fact, while researching the city's cultural attractions in preparation for our visit, my wife and I discovered there are museums for every whim and fancy, from Picasso to Monet to Warhol to Rockwell with a strong Cuban and Latin American influence. One of the newest museums is the Museum of Contemporary Art, a collecting museum that is recognized as an important forum for emerging artists. Located at 770 Northeast 125th Street in North Miami, the 23,000-square-foot building was opened in 1996, a year after its permanent collection was established. Under the direction of art historian and curator Bonnie Clearwater from 1993 to 2013, the MOCA was considered an "education museum" and was awarded a National Medal for Museum and Library Service in 2012. The museum has presented solo and survey exhibitions, supported exhibitions of work by emerging artists, developed new public programs, enhanced school programs and presented lectures, performances and film screenings. It is home to a collection of nearly 500 paintings, sculptures and works on paper by local, national and international contemporary artists, including Pablo Cano, Teresita Fernandez, Keith Haring, Alex Katz, Edward Ruscha and George Segal. Programs include Jazz at MOCA concerts, music at MOCA concerts, After School Drawing Classes for Teens and Creative Arts hands-on art program for children and families.

Bright light exhibit spaces. 2 exhibits of interest, both Haitian themed. Didier Williams was notable.

Educational, thought-evoking, and intriguing exhibits. They organize free, live jazz entertainment once a month, too!
