I live less than 2 miles from this Dollar General. As much as I go out of my way to AVOID this place, sometimes I just end up running in for a quick, single item here and there. Every single time I go here there are NO EMPLOYEES around. Last time there was an elderly lady yelling at the register for someone to help. No one ever came. I called corporate that time. I was just in there tonight for aspirin. Same scenario, except now EVERYTHING was taken down, information related on the front doors, including their hours and phone to reach corporate. No employees around, and of course they don't open their self-checkouts anymore. There's now a handy dandy squeaky DOG TOY at the register instructing customers to "squeeze for help". A dog toy ... and we're expected to squeak it for an employee to come out of wherever they always are, to do their job of checking customers out. Anyone could walk right in, take whatever they want and leave. Because there is never anyone up there working. How is this okay? Not to mention, that store is always a mess.

I went in on Friday evening for the first time. It appeared clean and there were two employees with maybe 2 customers including myself in the store. About 10 steps in, the pleasant experience ended. Once I went past the register area a German cockroach ran in front of my foot. I stepped on it to kill it and called an associate over privately, I showed the associate which responded it must have came in with the produce. And then they walked away, I was in the store for a good 30 minutes and the dead German cockroach was still sitting by the door when I left. Mind you again there was only two of us in the store shopping I did have my two small children with me. When I went to check out I had some confusion about how the coupon system worked. I requested help from an associate that was super busy doing nothing but standing around or going back and forth to the office with the other associate that was super busy doing nothing. A few questions I asked associate didn't know the answers to and when I finally thought I figured it out myself I put the number in and proceeded to check out. I obviously did not do something right because I had to call the associate back over who advised to me I would need to rescan all my items and start over, and legitimately huffed and puffed about 60 times going through the buttons in an aggressive manner to cancel my first order. I was starting to feel very uncomfortable in the situation I was in his body language made me feel awkward and I wanted to walk right out. I finally rescanned all my items and went to place my order again when one of the coupons did not come off my product. I hollered back to the office which they ran back to and asked them why the coupon wasn't applying and they advised me that I was only able to use one. In the beginning of all of this nightmare I advise to them that I was trying to purchase two separate items with a coupon if they knew it wasn't going to work it would have saved me a lot of trouble to tell me that to begin with. Absolute incompetent staff!!!

Closed 10-5 mins before listed time and refused to open the door for just one item. Terrible service.

This Dollar General is in order is clean and pretty well stocked I just hope it stays that way and doesn't follow in the footsteps of the Dollar General in North Port on Tamiami Trail
