If I could I wouldn’t have given them even one star! This place is a joke! I called several times this past tax year and left several messages for Steve F, the store manager, and I never received a call back. I just called to maybe just maybe I could get ahold of Steve and the lady that answered the phone was laughing when I called. No big deal at all, Then I get transferred to this gentleman named William and told him all my personal information and what I needed to take care of. Pretty much the whole time he was on the phone with me he was giggling and laughing. I just kept ignoring it until the end of the phone call and told him I’m in a serious situation and that I didn’t think it was a laughing matter! He then tells me “Oh I’m not laughing, it’s my allergies.” I’ve been a CSR for 25+ years and I would never make my customer/customers feel the way they have made me feel. We’re talking about a customer trying to move forward and get their taxes paid and done. U will NEVER be back to this place because of their employees!

H&R Block is fine but the North Port office is horrible. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a very rude woman behind the counter who looked up at me and said sit down we'll get to you as soon as we can. She said something about somebody calling in sick. I looked around and there were more people there than there were cubicles in the office so obviously they overbooked. She was just as rude to just about everybody in there except for one lady who walked in who apparently she knew. If you don't like your job you probably shouldn't be there.

Was quoted $270 for a 1040SR with just retirement distributions and SS income, thanks but no thanks. Went home, completed and submitted it electronically via FreeTaxUSA in about an hour, simple and actually FREE! Save your money and don't waste your time.

Terrible service, constant up-selling. It is impossible to downgrade if you make one wrong move. Very shady service. DO NOT TRUST H&R BLOCK!

We will never do business with H&R Block, especially the North Port office. We went to them to have a simple short form filed for us. We have been doing business with H&R Block for years. This time a regular agent was off sick. So we were assigned to an older female. We are both retired, drawing social security. She was not very client friendly, but she said she had it done and it would be filed electronically. We always have a refund coming because we depend on it as a savings account. But, for the refund, we bought the PEACE OF MIND POLICY which we buy every year, because another H&R Block made a mistake one year that they had to pay $1500 for their employee’s mistake. Good insurance for employees mistakes. The next day my husband said the numbers did not look right, we are the same bracket every year. So he called the agent and she checked it. She said “Yes” she made a mistake, she told only put down one social security income. She said she would file an amendment and we would get another $1,021. That sounded great. After weeks went by without the refund coming, my husband started calling. She said it was coming. After weeks again, when he called she or no one else in the office would return his phone calls. By the end of September, I got into the mess, making an appointment with the Branch Manager. Come to find out SHE never filed the amendment. No money coming. We met with him and he acted nice, but that wasn’t real. He did file the end of September 24 electronically for our refund! He said it should be 4 or 5 weeks and we would have our refund. No such thing. I finally got an email trail going to him by marking them URGENT and said since we bought the PEACE OF MIND and it was THEIR employee’s mistake to please pay us now from that policy. It was late October at this time. He then replied the company will not pay us for their employee’s mistake. We would have to wait another 8 weeks for our refund from the IRS. So I wrote OK, then refund our money that we paid for the POLICY, since they sold it with false advertising that it covers any of their mistakes. I HAVE NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THE BRANCH MANAGER SINCE THAT EMAIL! So NO, beware, they do not take care of their clients when their employee’s make! It will now be in January, 2025, if we ever get the $1,021 owed too us for a refund on the IRS short form. I doubt we will ever get it.

Obviously H&R has done taxes for a long time. From walking in, talking with them and dropping off the paperwork to returning,verifying and signing, it was simple and professional.
