The Thermostat in my room was broken and the AC was blowing right on my bed full blast. The room got so cold I was not able to sleep the entire stay. Then to make things worse a Spot light on the far end of the building was blown out of place and pointed directly into my room, while the constant passageway outside my room was lite 24/7 and the doctors office across the way was a bustling place of Doctors getting verbal advice/Direction from the ICU nurse. Once again I discovered that Doorways and stairwells are extremely conducive to loud speech. The stay sucked, I asked for my insulin, but no one told them I was diabetic so no one investigated and I had to go without. Once the surgery was completed the stay went to crap . . .

Everybody was so nice and helpful during my stay. Even when Doctor talked to me about having my heart cath done. The nurse noticed I was really nervous after the doctor talked to me. And she really stayed with me through the surgery. I’m sorry that I had so much going on and so fast. I didn’t get to thank her

My daughter had her first child there this morning Oct 13 in Ocala off 1st street. Her nurses on duty were so sweet, informative and patient with her. I want to thank Her day shift nurse Melanie in labor and delivery and her night nurse Donna for being so wonderful to her. Also when she was moved today to the after care her nurse Yami was so sweet and helpful. I feel truly blessed she had these three women to get her through it all. I left there today knowing my daughter and grandson were in the best of hands. Thank you ladies and all the rest of the nurses and her Dr for such great care.

Prior to my surgery, I dealt with fairly incompetent employees . The surgery group itself was outstanding in every way imaginable

I came in to Advent because I was pregnant and bleeding. It was around 10 or 11pm. Positive things to take note of:
They were very timely with me and took my concern seriously. I was seen immediately and they got me an ultrasound. Baby was okay.
The negative, and it really stuck with me:
The ultrasound tech that looked at me was obviously very frustrated. Probably over worked because yall don't staff correctly overnight. She was overwhelmed because there was someone in active labor who had received no prenatal care. The tech said some very mean things about the woman giving birth and it really struck a cord with me.
For one, she had no business openly complaining about another patient to me. For two, this is my second pregnancy and with my first I didn't receive any prenatal care either. I was judged very harshly by Healthcare workers because of it, who all know just how crap the American Healthcare System is. I felt so bad for the girl and so guilty I didn't say something to the ultrasound tech.
So, in the future I would strongly recommend:
1) You staff better because your people shouldn't be so over worked they need to rant to their patients. Yall charge enough, that's for sure. You can afford to keep staff in the ER, even over night.
2) Train your staff to be more sensitive. I hope that woman who was giving birth was treated kindly and with respect. Lord knows I was triggered and it took everything in me not to say some choice words back to the tech. In the state of Florida, an OB will not accept a new patient after 14 or 15 weeks gestation. It takes at least 30 days, over 4 weeks to get on medicaid and another 30 days if you have to switch the insurance company so you can see a doctor in your area. It is VERY easy to miss your window of opportunity when you are less fortunate and can't afford private insurance.
