I remember when they used to care about their customers, through all the buyouts and mergers it feels like this is no longer the case.
They were made aware in May of 2024 that my personal transaction information was being sent to somebody not associated with my account, it is January 2025 and that person is still getting emails every time I use my debit card.
I recently made a deposit at one of their ATMs, it is 9 days later and the money is still not showing up in my account. I have talked to four different customer service representatives, each one of them had to escalate it to a department to further investigate. I have a receipt from the bank of the deposit being made. Each person has given me a different excuse as to why it is not showed up in my account yet. I would understand if it was a typical hold, but not one employee could even see that the deposit was made. Luckily I have a receipt.
To add insult to injury, they recently changed my account number on a separate account. When addressing my concern with the teller, she assured me that all of my auto payments from that account would still go through. Sure enough I'm receiving notifications that this is not the case and I need to re-setup my payments.
They still have some good employees, but it doesn't make up for how inept the company has become.
If you care about your money, I would not Bank here.

We were very impressed with the assistance provided by Jack Schmidt, Financial Sales Representative at SouthState Bank in Ocala, FL. We were looking to open a new account, and he greeted us the minute we walked in the door. We had many questions that he was able to address & answer with ease & patience to ensure us that we understood completely what was available in order for us to make the best decisions. He was extremely helpful in explaining how to use and make transactions through the app site.We would recommend this bank for anybody who is looking for a company who has your back and best interest at heart.Thank you so much Jack for making this process easy!

Absolutely love this bank for various reasons, but mainly because the staff are so willing to help. The teller Emily G. was devoted to helping me figure out my banking situation, went out of her way to help me get my new card, and made certain I had my card before closing hours the same day which was a life saver.
