Horrible experience. My family and I had good memories of this place from when we went about 5 years ago. We went this past week to celebrate my sister’s 40th birthday (which we informed the host of after being asked if we were celebrating anything special). The food was overpriced for the quality, even for Disney, but the real issue was the horrid service. After finishing our food, we were ignored by our server for over 30 minutes. We eventually went to the host to request dessert menus, and when the server came back he was gruff and rude, and had a sarcastic attitude with my mother when she attempted to order decaf coffee We ordered desserts, which he brought out with the same disdainful attitude (and no candles or any indicator or a celebration). We were a group of 7, including two kids (9 and 4) so his tip was included, but not at all deserved. It seemed he knew he would get an automatic tip and did not care to serve us. We talked to the host about why they had asked us if we were celebrating if they weren’t going to do anything for it, and they told us they typically do a celebration dessert. Nothing was done and at no point did anyone offer an apology for the service or experience. Would not recommend.

If I could give this experience more than 5 stars, I would. We had SUCH a good experience there. I went for my birthday and they made it special. Our server was amazing. Literally the best I have ever had. She took care of our food allergies exquisitely. I felt confident that everything would be safe. And she made sure that everything was safe for everyone at our table with multiple allergies. The atmosphere was so fun! We lived in Africa for several years and between the food, uniforms, and the atmosphere here and in the lodge, it reminded us of home. The food was so tasty. We will include a stop here next time we are at Disney.

This is one of the few restaurants I can confidently say is worth everything you spend on it, including time and money. The food and atmosphere are perfect, the service is impeccable and both times I’ve eaten there the chef comes over to the table to greet us. So cool. The filet is wonderful, the desserts are dramatic and flavorful… they even have Napoleon Bonaparte’s favorite wine to serve with dessert. This restaurant truly deserves a chef’s kiss.

Fantastic food, attentive service, a great (albeit pricey) dining experience.

The lights were flickering the entire time we were in the restaurant. I informed the server I had an allergy and was told the oak steak would be a good option for me with no substitutions needed. When it arrived, the steak had no sauce and different sides. I was told they realized after I ordered it that the sauce and sides contained my allergen. Wish I knew ahead of time so I could order something different than a dry steak with no sauce..not the experience I expected with the price tag and reputation. Very disappointed.

The steak dish with the demi glaze and macaroni and cheese was an amazing meal. The mac and cheese was one of the best mac and cheeses I have ever had. Definitely recommend if staying at animal kingdom lodge.

I have been fortunate enough to visit Disney World twice in the past few years. On my first visit was my first experience with Jiko and I was blown away with the taste of the food here. This most recent visit I can confidently say this is the best restaurant Disney World has to offer. This most recent visit I even ended up going to Jiko twice. I think my favorite dishes would be the Injera Basket paired with the Zulu Oxtail.

Great recommendation from friends, who are huge Disney fan regulars! Started off with a drink at the bar area and ventured into the wild boar appetizer. I was apprehensive, but it was amazingly delicious. Kudos to our bartender (can't remember her name though - but I think it only had 2 letters) for the strong recommendation. The dinner was also well prepared, and full of great flavors. We got the fish, seafood and short rib entrees. A memorable visit indeed during a short trip to Disney!

We have been here many times but this time was terrible! Server was inexperienced and not trained and very slow. The food was disgusting. Over cooked vegetables, brocollini was brown at the tips and totally soft and disgusting. Publix sell better mash potatoes than what we had that night. It was my Mother's 90th birthday, she was visiting from the UK and this was very disappointing. We will not be rushing back. The experience was a diner experience, nothing against a diner, but for three meals, I paid nearly $600.00 and I would not pay that for three diner meal. I complained at the table and they reheated my food. At the end I spoke with the manager who for the most part was cleaning tables and not directing her team. She said I should have said something at the table which I did! She did not do anything at atll!

The Basics: Jiko is located in Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World. It is a sit down restaurant with an incredible menu featuring South African cuisine. The restaurant is beautiful and it is a favorite of mine on Disney property. Things I like: All the food is delicious and creative, the services is great, and the setting is gorgeous. I loved all of the items I tried including the Oak-grilled Filet Mignon, Injera Basket (we ordered this entree as an appetizer and loved it), and the Malva Pudding for dessert. I also loved the 'giraffe' bread, it was fresh and delicious. The food is creative and I have always enjoyed my meals here. Things I didn't like: Nothing, Jiko is excellent in every way! Overall, this is one of the best restaurants at Walt Disney World and a must if you are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge!
