On December 3, 2022, my wife and I went to the Midas location in Mundelein, IL.. The technician said the vehicle needed the front driver side wheel bearing replaced. The work was done and costed us $385.89 for the repair. We also had other work done as well. As we were pulling out of the lot, the car began making a screaming sound. We took it right back and the technician said the weather conditions we were having might have something to do with this, and he made an adjustment to the vehicle. This was completely false! Recently, this vehicle began making a thumping sound when applying the brakes. I did not want to go back to Midas knowing this location is not trustworthy. On Saturday March 25, 2023,I took the car to Mavis Tire in Vernon Hills, IL. The guys there told my the wheel bearing which was installed on this vehicle was an OE part that probably had 100,000 miles on it. This part was believed to come from another vehicle! Please see pics attached. At the point which they were replaced for a second time, the part only had approximately 5,000 miles in it.After the vehicle was repaired by Mavis, I went back to the Midas location to speak with them. I had the part with me which they installed and they said they would have never done that and it was not a sued part. I requested a refund of which I was denied.. There were 3 guys there and they completely denied everything, they even spoke to Mike at Mavis who had given me his phone number and asked to speak to them. This was a terrible experience and I cant believe a shop would do this. Very unprofessional.Again, please see attached pics as well as the receipts for the work done at the Mundelein, IL Midas location.

Midas International is a franchise you should avoid at all costs. Their corporation reneged on my contract to buy a second location and gave it away to the son of the president. When I protested to the IMDA, they said that neither I nor them had enough money to sue them. Afterwards, they harassed me with audits every year, and I caught them sending coupons to my customers to take their business to one of their other stores. The owner of one of their locations fell behind on the bills, so they promptly seized it, exercised their personal guarantee to take everything he had leaving his family homeless, then literally gave the store to one of their insider multi unit owners because they didn't want any corporate owned stores anymore. They should terrify you with the threat of losing your life savings too.

On 8-17-2021 I went to a Midas automotive franchise located at 2900 S. Dixie Drive Kettering Ohio 45409 due to feeling sticking in my brakes(front area). Midas said they would check them out so they drove car and put car on rack and told me my brake pads were all low on each wheel needing replaced. Midas said they also found no sticking of brakes buy suggested me to have oil changed and engine and cab filters replaced as well. I agreed to all and was charged $408.45. (Be mindful). Midas included a car visual inspection which said that my Struts were good. On 8-28-2021 I came back to same Midas told them I hear noise in my front right tire area. Midas drove car and said they didn't find anything but suggested I have my struts replaced which "should" remove noise I was hearing. Notice Midas said Should remove noise and not would remove noise. I specifically recall the Midas employee handling the cost tell me i would be charged $851.33 but I noticed on my debit card $951.33 was deducted. I argued about the amount but the employee said he told me it would was $951.33 for struts. While driving home I noticed noise was still there so I called Midas customer support and they said an investigation would be done if they find in my favor they'll refund my money. after waiting over two months I looked on my debit card to see if Midas reimbursed me and I thought Midas did because I didn't see amount for struts on card anymore. but after checking the right bank card, I saw that the $951.33 deduction was still there. I went to an independent mechanic named Matthew who looked at my wheel areas, told me to get 2 sway bars and 2 wheel bushings which I got from Amazon and Ebay. Matt put the parts on for less than $80.00 and the noise stopped immediately. I argued with Midas franchise and even called Corporate Midas in Florida but both kept telling me there will be no refund and there's nothing they could do for me. So I then sent out Certified mail with important info explaining why I should be reimbursed but both franchise and corporate Midas's failed to sign my certified letter green cards to be sent back to me which I'm still having an issue today about. so after getting nowhere with Midas I filed complaints with the BBB(Better Business Bureau and FTC(Federal Trade Commission) who did very little to help. On 4-27-2022, the Ohio Attorney's General(OAG) office sent me a notice Midas offered to reimburse me for the sway bars and bushings I bought but I told OAG I would not settle for anything less than what I'm entitled to. But what Midas didn't know is: 1. I just bought my car, a 2012 chevy a 2012 Chevy Equinox LT 2.4 liter for $8,600 at Smedley Chevrolet in Vandalia Ohio. 2. I explained Midas issue with Smedley who told me my car didn't need struts and Smedley said the would send my car's service report to my email which stated: my car had 4 new tires, all wheel rotors resurfaced and a 4 wheel alignment. Smedley also told me no mechanic can do a 4 wheel alignment on my particular car if struts are bad. so the truth is: Midas simply got caught making an unnecessary repair to my car and I believe had I told Midas I just purchased my car on 7-7-2021, I don't believe Midas would have tried to rip me off. The pitiful thing is I also believe Midas forgot what it's own visual inspection said about my struts being good which is exactly what Smedley said tom and the service report reaffirmed. To even go further on this issue, after Midas replaced my struts, Midas failed its Fiduciary responsibility to align my wheels back to proper specifications. Manufacturer's requirements for my particular car always warrants an immediate alignment of wheels following strut replacement to set proper camber caster and toe adjustments which could have also saved wear on my tires which did occur due to Midas failure to honor its Fiduciary duty. As a customer we expect a mechanic to reasonably honor us with his/her expertise but like many others I also urge the public to never allow m

Beware! I took my car here for an oil change. The next day my car was squealing. I drop it off to Midas to see what's wrong. John Gonzalez calms me to tell me my oil gasket and cover need to be replaced and quotes me around $2100 to complete the repair; $1000 for parts and $1000 for labor. I ask for the part names and part numbers to see if I could find them cheaper online so John Gonzalez gives me the names and part numbers so I can order them online. I found the parts MUCH cheaper and ordered them. When the parts come in, we take them to Midas where John Gonzalez tells me the part is missing a valve/pipe and asks us to get them from an auto parts store. He prints up the parts from his computer to show us the missing part. The parts from his computer were only $600 and he quoted me almost $1000 for the same parts!! We went to two parts stores to find the missing valve/pipe but were unable to get them so we tell John Gonzalez to order the valve/pipe and proceed w the repair. After 15 minute, John Gonzalez calls back to say the two parts we ordered using the part numbers he gave us, weren't the correct parts after all. So I tell him I'm coming to pick up the car and the wrong parts! I drive the car from Midas to another mechanic who then quotes me a little over $900 for the repair; about $500 for the part and over $400 in labor. Midas not only WAY over charged me for parts but also nearly doubled the labor time! Horrible!

I went to Midas in racine, wisconsin and told them I just replaced my A/C compressor, receiver/drier, and expansion valve and needed to have my A/C unit flushed and evacuated, and my transmission flushed and so they gave me a qoute which i thought was a good deal with whatever price it was I forgot but I brought my car after setting the appointment at 9:30am and they said it should be done by noon. At exactly 5:38pm "which is 8 hours later" they call me and say my car was done but they could not complete the transmission flush because they needed a certain tool, I said ok not a problem and picked up my car. As I am paying I ask where would I be able to get my transmission flushed and he "not sure his name" recommended a Ford dealership and told me after I was done filling my A/C unit that they would give me a free A/C inspection which I thought was cool because they made a mistake about flushing my transmission. (By the way before I replaced those three A/C parts I did have my unit professionally emptied which was full of A/C which means I had no leaks.) I then took my car home and began to fill my A/C unit with freon and as im reading the gauge i see the unit is not holding any freon and my brand new compressor is not even clicking over, also as I have my hood up I notice Im missing my two engine covers. So I then call and asked to speak with the manager "John" and told him I now have a leak which I did not have before and Im missing my engine covers and he gave me all kinds of reasons why I could have a leak and that they did not cause that but if I wanted to stop back by they could take a look at it. Before I leave I receive a call from another guy at Midas telling me "I was just cleaning and I just saw some engine covers that might be yours" now this is like three days later that they finally notice and after my phone call that my engine covers are still in there shop. So I bring my car back again and I give them my keys, they drive my car inside the garage and put my engine covers back on "without the clips to hold it on" and pull my car back out. I asked them well I thought you were going to inspect my A/C unit which they said they would do it for free anyways but the manager reponded that they had inspected it before they released the car and if I wanted a further inspection that I would have to pay. At that point I was so upset I just asked for their corperate number and went home. I then began to call anyone and everyone I could to get this resolved. A short time later I received a phone call from a lady who was nice but transfered me back to the manager at the place I just came from, I refused to talk with him because of what I just went through and continued to call other phone numbers on their website. A short time later I received another call from the field manager who told me that they didnt do nothing but what was asked to my car and I cant prove it. He continued to tell me, how does he know my car was working fine before I brought it to them and asked where it was leaking from. I said I did not know but it is not holding any freon or compression anymore and it was fine before. I was on the phone with this guy for about 20 minutes and him just telling me over and over that I could not prove my car was fine before I brought it in or that midas did anything. I then got tired of talking with guy insulting me and told him we are not getting anywhere and I will continue to call others. I NEVER once received a apology and I always thought Midas was a safe honest company to come to but after this experience I am not sure about that anymore.
