Dr. April and staff are amazing! I have a Fennec Fox, and she had extensive ear damage due to a bite she got from her mom. The ear canal was completely shut and had to be opened surgically. Dr. April explained everything to me and was very up front with what was going to be involved and that multiple surgeries would be needed. I was kept up to date during every surgery on the progress that was being made. I read other reviews regarding Dr. April and how she communicates to her client's, but during one surgery Dr. April did have to call me and did sound "rushed" but she had my baby on her operating table, and I would rather her focus be on my fox and quickly explain decisions that needed to be made with regards to my fox's procedure. Her focus is her patient's, and I am so grateful she is in this area to care for all of my exotics. Her expertise is worth every penny she charges to care for my babies with her very capable hands. Thank you, Dr. April and staff, for all you do. My little girl is thriving today because of the care all of you provided during her time of need.

Outstanding. This was my first visit to a vet to see the very special cockatiels I inherited from my late father. Since they were such a big part of his life, these little girls mean the world to me. I am so relieved to report the level of care I received from Dr. April and her compassionate staff was beyond expectations. Dr. April is a phD and is of genius-level intelligence. Very similar to Dr. House, MD (of the TV show), she was able to instantly detect what the issues my birds were having were, and explain why they were having trouble. She expertly recommended I switch foods and perches and left no stone unturned, ensuring my girls who are up in age, are set up for a successful and healthy life; and under her expert care, I am certain these two will have an extended lifespan. Dr. April is an animal lover and speaks the language of her animals, she truly understands them, and she looks at root cause, rather than just treating symptoms. If your bird or exotic pet needs care and you will only accept the most compassionate, professional, and expert care, bring them to Dr. April. You will not be disappointed.

I have a Cockatiel aviary. In a few devastating days, my birds became profoundly ill. Dr. April was there for me from the onset. She communicated very honestly and compassionately the awful truth of what was happening, and promptly provided medicine. In addition, she was available to answer messages at any time, which truly only begins to demonstrate the dedication she has toward her creatures.
Very sadly, 2 of my little bird family passed on, but that was because I didn’t get them in sooner, I have no doubt. From the start, Dr. April was on it, and she put much effort and work into my situation, clearly trying to save my beloved birds. She made sure that when my second bird became ill, I was able to bring him right in. Without hesitation. Did I say dedicated??? Indeed, and then some. She ensured that my birds received the care they needed, and she did so immediately.
Avian experts aren’t around every corner. They are few and far between . I am so happy I found Dr. April, and she will be my go-to vet for any issues with my Cockatiels.
I hope a happy future is still in store for my remaining birds, but no matter what happens, I am secure knowing I had the very best in veterinary care for them.
I drive an hour to bring my Cockatiels to Dr. April. That right there should tell it perfectly. Just go there. You will know your birds are in excellent hands. Thank you, Doc!

Most disrespectful vet we’ve ever interacted with. Was there with my partner’s sick bird.
How she keeps staff and keeps in business is beyond me. Abrasive and rude.

This place is a total "show" if you know what I mean. Overpriced for everything and we've taken our exotic birds to different avian vets from Texas, Sarasota, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and West Palm Beach and thee folks are the single most overpriced operation we've ever encountered. The staff is ill educated and the doctor runs a sloppy operation and her expertise as a veterinarian should be called into question. If you love your animals, go elsewhere... anywhere.

I went in about a month and a half ago, I had a scheduled appointment around 5pm because my rabbit appeared to have an eye infection. There were a few emergencies and the office was short staffed, which I understand things happen that are out of our control, but I waited almost three hours to be seen. It took me inquiring after a few hours about the wait time for anyone to communicate with me, that’s when Dr. April’s staff began telling me the clinic is pretty “chaotic” in their words. I eventually ended up leaving the clinic room around 3 hours in and was going to reschedule, that’s when Dr. April intervened and said “let’s take a look at your rabbit, what’s wrong with him”. She treated him for an eye and ear infection, and also stated his eye infection was caused by having overgrown teeth which he would need to have surgery for. During this time, she would have me open the clinic door so she could yell down the hall for a vet tech to come to the room. The vet tech ended up quoting the total cost for the visit and his surgery to be under $1,000 if I came back within the month for it. The visit that night was a little under $600. Two weeks later I called to schedule his surgery, over the phone I was told it would be over $500 which was not what I was originally quoted and I let who I was speaking to know. She put me on hold and came back a few minutes later telling me since I was there within the month it would be less because I already had some of the medications. Due to the discrepancy, I became concerned, I asked her to please send me a written, itemized estimate of his surgery through email, she said they don’t do that or have access to email but someone would call and go over that with me, which I thought to be strange since every vet I’ve been to hasn’t had an issue giving me a written estimate. Dr. April told me if there was anything I needed, since I previously couldn’t get ahold of her office line, to contact her directly on her cell. I asked her directly to please send me an estimate through email and if they’re not able to if she could please text it to me. She said of course and someone named “lisa” would be contacting me prior. I contacted her and her office a total of 4 times during a week requesting this but no one got back to me, not even to discuss the cost over the phone. Dr. April has her read receipts on her text and it showed she saw my message but ignored it. Due to them not showing transparency of the cost for my rabbit’s surgery, and the lack of communication from the office and Dr. April, I cancelled my appointment and received a second opinion. I ended up taking my rabbit to All Creature’s Animal Hospital on Kanner Hwy. and they were amazing. From the moment I booked, through the entire visit the wait time was under 30 minutes, the doctor was very thorough, and the second opinion showed my rabbit didn’t need surgery for overgrown teeth. They said he had slight overgrowth but since he was eating and drinking and is 7 years old, at this time they did not feel it was necessary for the risk of the surgery unless he continued having problems and recommended a vet down south if I wanted to go through with it. A month and a half later and my rabbit’s infection has not come back, I would have spent quite a bit of additional money and put him under unnecessary stress if I didn’t receive that second opinion for a surgery he didn’t need. I would not recommend taking your pets to this vet, If you have no other option, I highly advise getting a written estimate for the cost of treatment and a second opinion.

Not only was Dr. April late an HOUR and a HALF to our appointment, she shows us the message she thought she sent us earlier this week about our pet, was actually a video msg (via 2022) of our previous bird (deceased) , WHICH I already sent them an email THAT year regarding that we do not have that pet anymore.

First, I’ve never left a good or bad review for anything in my entire life. Second, I wish negative stars was an option. Third, they definitely will do anything in their power to grab as much money AS POSSIBLE from you. Because they know we love our pets too much. She told me my bill would not be more than $1200(including the $500 deposit). Well to no surprise my bill was about $2000. Just for them to chop my birds leg off. Also, the doctors rarely ever replies to you and will leave you on read even when you call her multiple times to check on your pet. She also called me at 12 am in a huge rush for someone reason, you can’t even comprehend wants happening. Then she says she “had to go quickly” and leaves the phone call. Then when I went to pick up my bird she made me wait over AN HOUR and I had to say something cause it would have been longer( btw it’s 9pm already, people wanna go to sleep). They never answer the phone calls. Oh yah and also after I picked up my bird after waiting an hour, they called me as I was leaving because they forgot to give me “special food for my bird” . Nope it was regular food. After I already paid for my bill, they then charged me another$50 FOR BASIC FOOD telling me I had to buy it because they opened it for my bird. Anyway, try finding a different place plz you will have a headache and your wallet will be hurting. :)

I brought my angora rabbit in with a decreased appetite and he ended up having severe overgrown teeth. We are so thankful for Dr April and her staff keeping us updated throughout the surgery and for taking great care of him overnight. Even after he came home Dr April and the amazing staff called to check up on him and answer any additional questions we had about medicine and aftercare. Truly thankful too all at Avian & Exotic Clinic of Palm City.

Dr April has been treating my two ferrets for about six months. We only met when I reached out to her office on a Friday night at 8 o'clock in a panic because my ferret collapsed while I was holding him. I was not currently a patient of hers, but I knew that she specializes in exotic animals and that my regular vet was closed. The office gave me her private cell phone number and she answered. When I explained to her the symptoms, she immediately was able to diagnose him with insulinoma over the phone and had me bring him in immediately. She stayed with us there until midnight running all the tests and creating plan of care including a medicinal regiment of which she created in-house so that I could take the prescriptions home and immediately begin treatment. She took the time to explain every facet of the disease and her reasoning behind his plan of care and answering all of my questions even as we're at her car at midnight. And he is doing great! Then my other ferret began being so howing signs of respiratory distress and Dr. April took the time to rule out multiple possible causes before diagnosing her with a rare case of heart worms, which have a high mortality rate and for which there is no approved treatment. Dr April was willing to collaborate with other experts in the field and created an experimental treatment plan. We are four months into a six month treatment and my little girl is doing ok. I am grateful for Dr April for going above and beyond and taking the time and research and think outside the box to try and save my ferret and for being available to respond to my texts at any time. And throughout my visits, I've seen her take care of all kinds of exotic animals and be in emergency surgery as late as midnight. It's clear that helping animals is her life, not just her job, and I would recommend her to anyone❤️
