I've been here many times personally. The employees are generally very helpful. Today though, Peter himself accosted me at the checkout stand. He accused me of moving some scrap wood to use the large cart for water bottles and went into this whole thing about it. He made a big deal, mid checkout, in front of customers and directed me to ask an employee next time and not use carts on my own. He was clearly very distressed amd confused over my being there. The facts are I did NOT move anything, I did ask an employee if I could use the large cart and the employee proceeded to move the 2 pieces of wood off so I could, which was very helpful.Being confronted and falsely accused was unprofessional and uncalled for.I wouldn't recommend women go here.

Great customer service and every time I go in I am always surprised to find they have exactly what I need, no matter how random it is. Places like this remind me of the value of shopping local.

I don't want this to sound like sour grapes, some will think it is. I am semi retired & went to work for this store and told them specific hours that I was available. I said I would like work about 12 hours a week. (2-6hr.days) They scheduled me for only 10 which was fine with me 1 short day 1longer day. Worked for me. I loved the customer service aspect of this job trying to help individuals navigate home, repair issues & being a homeowner for almost 35 years and doing everything myself I had a good understanding of most situations that arose at the store. A number of the employees came from a varied backgrounds, some with true building experience and others with life experience. I truly enjoyed the opportunity, trying my best to help customers with the many questions that they had whether they were experienced in this problem that they were trying to resolve or individuals who basically had no clue. The only true issue I could see, which I understand is they were very aware of their labor cost which they should be. Two or three different times we were overstaffed, and we were slow, since I was a new hire I was asked to leave early, which I agreed to do. When they scheduled me a few times on days that I had requested not to work I came in with a list of days I was available and days that I could not work. The two options were, 1- give me the hours that I had been working over the last month or 2- let me know right up front that my requested schedule of days to work did not fit into their business model. The schedule was usually posted and ready on Sundays for the following week Monday through Sunday. When I came into work on Monday to work my scheduled shift I saw the schedule and saw that I only had Monday (4hrs.) they said that's the way it is. I worked 9 AM to 1 PM. I clocked out and never heard from them again. I guess the points I'm trying to get to is that the one overriding theme from a number of employees at the store was the owner was very tight fisted and unwilling to pay a halfway decent wage. (my pay wasn't really the issue I just wanted to work.) When I received my last direct deposit check today knowing it was only for 4 hours when I checked on the email statement they only paid me for 3 3/4 hours. How lame & pity can you get. One employee went so far and said to me "I've been working here for over a year & and this past Christmas I wasn't expecting any type of bonus, but I did not even get a Christmas greeting or card to thank me for the time that I have put in" There are so many businesses that truly appreciate the time and effort that employees put in and realize that keeping the good ones will require doing everything in their power to keep said employees. Keeping the good ones especially in this very tight labor market should be the #1 priority of a small business owner. (ps- got a new job a week later with the hours that I wanted to work and more money)

Guys who answered the phones acted like they had no idea what was going on. Told me I would need to go to a car dealership to copy my keys. Completely useless.

Almost never have what I need but most typical hardware stores would. When they do the prices are way too high. Their answering message is extremely obnoxious. Better to drive over the bridge.

Have been shopping there for years, didn't ming paying more because I like to support my local small businesses. Purchased a 3 gal. Sprayer a few weeks ago, it was missing the strap, took 1 off of a cooler and got ready, to use it, put the chemicals in it pumped it up nothing's coming out the nozzle check that couldn't figure it out opened it up and it exploded in my face , luckily I didn't get hurt I took it back a few weeks later I've been a little bit busy they said I had to wait for the manager so I left it with them I wait 2 days to get a call he says it's been used so we're not going to do anything about it so basically accusing me of using it and returning it when actually what they sold me someone else had returned he said there was some kind of xylene in the tip well I certainly wasn't using xylene in my garden sprayer ! So not only did they sell me something used that didn't work they then accused me of using it and returning it the new manager is a joke and Peter's will be losing a lot more customers if they keep this idiot. That's one small business I will no longer be supporting

Besides the lady that works there, the rest of them have absolutely no customer service at all. No help finding things at all. The place used to be great but not anymore!
