This bank treated me like a criminal for trying to cash a legitimate payroll check.
I drove over 40 minutes to the Cadence Bank branch on 10/31/25 to cash a corporate check from a well-known local business. I provided two forms of ID and stayed polite the entire time — but the teller implied the check could be stolen and wasted over 30 minutes repeatedly calling after hours while glaring at me like I did something wrong.
The manager stormed out with zero professionalism — no greeting, no apology — and said they wouldn’t cash the check unless the account holder called them within nine minutes before closing. Completely ridiculous and humiliating.
After leaving, I looked up the bank…
Turns out Cadence has a history of corruption:
Caught redlining by the Department of Justice
Charging illegal fees (ATM and overdraft even when funds existed)
Multiple class-action lawsuits
Rebranding to hide their past instead of fixing it
If this is how they treat non-clients with a valid check… imagine how they treat their own customers. Avoid this place.

Love this bank and have used them for years. Mary Jo who set our account up was amazing but she was at the branch in MS. We were told there wasn’t a branch here. Be prepared their policies on closing your account are a bit excessive in my opinion. When trying to cancel one of our acct the first time we were told it had to be in person. That’s how we found out about this branch. When I was finally able to make it to this branch I had been charged the $10 fee for the acct again due to bad timing. Ugh! I paid the $10 (now$20 total due to the location/timing) I would’ve left a 4 star review due to this unpleasant experience trying to close one of our accts. BUT I started to take pictures of the location for this google review and the clerk, Jennifer, left her station and told her manager I was taking pictures of her and made her uncomfortable. When I assured the manager I was only taking pictures of the location and she was not in them (see pics below) she then said she would take care of this for me since her employee didn’t feel comfortable. Whilst her manager had her back to us to take care of the closure, Jennifer then came back to her station locked it up and gave me a very nasty look. She was never going to be a part of this review. However after going through this whole process then to be made felt like I was in the wrong is why I am leaving 3 stars.

I love this bank. The personal customer service and the people who work there are why. I've never had a bank I would recommend, but these people are fantastic. They greet me by name, no other bank has ever remembered who I was. Also set me up with a credit building loan, that has already bumped my credit up after just a few months.

Was waiting in the parking lot for the bank to open before I headed into my office. While waiting I working on my phone in my car out of the way of the bank. Bank opens at 9am. I was approached at 8:20 telling me I had to leave.Guess I will take my business elsewhere.

Took 45 mins to cash a Cadence Check recieved from my school from grant money. People were awesome and nice. But come on get with it.
