My wife and I bought 2 bikes back in April. We've been back a few time for some upgrades and Sean was great, very thorough explaining everything. The shop has a good vibe going on. Everybody that works here is nice, friendly and super helpful. Best bike shop in the area by a mile!

Chainwheel assembled 3 of our Cannondale bikes and I couldn't recommend them enough. To be honest this was my first gear bike and I was having beginner issues. Sean at the shop took time to make sure the bike was set perfectly and gave me great pointers for my next ride, thank you Sean!

I was in a bind. I lost a screw to my cleat for my clipin shoes. I popped by the store and they said they don’t know why but this specific screw has been hard to get in stock. I was a bit disappointed as I was hoping to race the next day. One of the guys got on the computer to see where I could find one and another one of the guys went through a couple old boxes full of misc things…and ta da! They found the little piddly $.04 screw and even put it on to make sure it was right. Looks like I’ve found a new bike shop. Thanks to the guys at Chainwheel in Palm Harbor.

I had the best experience with Shawn in Palm Harbor. I had a Townie electric bike that had many issues. Shawn was able to work with the Townie company and I'm very happy with the results. Highly recommend Shawn and this store.

I took my bike into the service department to get looked at a few weeks ago, they were so helpful and educational discussing what was going on with my bike. I will always bring my bike here for service. I was taught so much in just five minutes with a review with the service department, and they were not in a rush, taking the time to educate me on the different parts and issues that were going on with my bike. Thank you!

Came to Tarpon Springs from Tennessee for a conference & vacation. Our car, including the bike rack, was hit the 1st day here making it unsafe to haul the bikes back. Rider helped me find the most appropriate bike rack for my needs & had it assembled for me that afternoon. The team helped me transfer the bikes & made sure I knew all about the features. Great group to work with. A very bright spot on a crazy day. Thanks everyone.

Room For Improvement When you come in and tell them you are looking to buy an E-bike, they are your new best friends! I picked out a bike, got over my heart attack when I saw the price tag, and then asked about a rack for my car. Turns out they did not carry the rack that fit this bike (why would you carry the bike and not the rack that fits it? It's not like people can throw a 70-lb e-bike in the back of their cars......!) So I had to drive to the other (Clearwater) location to get the correct rack, and then back to the Palm Harbor location to pick up the bike. When I went inside to get the paperwork (warranty info, etc)... having spent my *cough* life savings *cough*... I was told that they had forgotten to charge me the $15 state battery fee. I thought they were kidding. They were not. I said surely, since I just spend almost $4,000 in this store, you can cover the $15 fee...? Nope. He waited there with his hand out while I dug a $20 bill out of the bottom of my purse. When he handed me my change, instead of handing me the $5 I was owed, he handed me a couple ones and some change. Yes folks, to add insult to injury, he had actually charged me sales tax on the battery tax. I'm pretty sure that's illegal. I would have been MORTIFIED to do this to a customer who had just dropped that kind of money in my store. I will never go back.

I bought several bikes from Chainwheel, and they usually have a decent selection of basic bikes. However, their service department is severely lacking when it comes to dealing with mountain bikes. Took my bike in for a loose cassette, and they basically told me I needed to contact the manufacturer to get the parts, and then bring everything back in for them to install them. Told me I needed a new thru-axle and end caps. They put it back together and charged me 15 dollars for that. No repair, no information on part numbers, etc. I immediately took the bike to University Bike Center, they told me they would get the parts, install everything for me and not to worry. They even advised if they needed to rebuild the wheel with a new hub they would do that also, something Chainwheel didn’t even bother mentioning as an option. Almost as if they couldn’t be troubled with it. I see them working on a lot of road bike stuff, so I think that’s their forte. If you need your mountain bike worked on, don’t bother. Just go to UBC. I would have given them a one star rating, but because I have a history with them and their Drew St location is decent, I added a couple. I shouldn’t feel like I’m being a bother to a shop when I bring my bike in. They should be happy to get the business. UBC had two people waiting on me, and the tech in the repair shop was enthusiastic and stoked to talk with me about his mountain bikes. That’s the shop that’s getting my business from now on.
