Beautiful train store with excellent customer service. The staff are friendly and are happy to educate. They have a massive selection of trains. Quite the variety! They have a wonderful children's area. Plenty of hands on experience from children's to adult. Cute grounds too with a train bell. They had a variety of price points but it really seems to be particular to type of train. We would happily visit again. I loved seeing all the train models out and it is quite the imagination spark!

I am located in Idaho and we do not have a local Model Train Shop that does repair services. I am so glad I discovered HR Trains all the way across the country in Florida! I have sent them 4 HO Locomotives for reapairs in the past year and their service is top notch! They have been able to fix my trains and mail them back to me nicely packaged and with great care. Reasonable prices and very responsive. If they are busy and back logged they will let you know that up front, however I feel their turn around times have been very good for me! I will be using them for all my model train repairs moving forward! I trust them with their care and attention to detail . If I ever make down to Pinellas Florida...I will be stopping buy! THANK YOU!!

Very good train store with something for all gauges. All the staff that were there the day I came in were very helpful. I was looking for a G-Scale part that they unfortunately did not have but was able to find other rolling stock and accessories that work for me. They were also able to help my sister-in-law find the right starter set for her son. The next time I am in town I am definitely going to be going back to the store to check out what new things they have.

I had an old Lionel train from the 50s that no longer worked. I took it to HR Train and toys and they were absolutely wonderful people to work with. When my train was ready to be picked up, Tom totally took his time and set the whole thing up for me to show me how it worked. I would highly recommend this place for either repairs or new purchases. I couldn’t have had a better experience.

I loved taking my son here today. Everyone was nice and helpful. My son was looking at their train village table and an employee turned it on for him. We will definitely be going back here soon regularly. Thank you so much for giving us such a nice experience.

Here's the story behind my low rating:I recently visited HR Trains to purchase fastrack. We've been frequent customers before, and even bought one of our 1st electric train sets from here. Anyway, we visited the store to pick some used straight Lionel fastrack. We asked an employee, who was relatively kind and patient, about the track and its price. Some tracks were marked $3.84, but others were marked with a sharpie, and one was marked with a price tag reading $2.75. We asked the guy what the prices were and he said that the counter knows. So I pick up 10 pieces of this large, 10" straight track and haul it over to the counter, eager to purchase (here's where things go "off the rails"). One guy, who is named Tom, asks me kindly if we need help, and we asked about the used track, to which he says they're $2.75 a piece. Then, when we are ringing up, the cashier rings up $45 or so, and he says that the track is $3.84, along with another lady at the counter, who seemed less friendly than the other workers. We told them that Tom said it was $2.75, to which that lady at first refused to check. Then, we showed her the $2.75 marked piece of track, which she took and started peeling the label off immediately. At this point, we are extremely confused and irritated. Heck, we even showed her their website online had the list price at $2.75 (that's probably gone now). Next, she calls the manager, Dennis, and To, who sonehow ending up agreeing with her price, even though Tom said they were $2.75 earlier. Dennis even said to go next door to a train show to buy track, which I felt was more odd since they're a business, but yet encouraging me to go take my cash elsewhere. It's also worth mentioning that they did not even want to sell that one piece for $2.75. So we did exactly that, leaving pretty ticked off, since we wasted about half and hour for that (at least they apologized). So we go to the other train store next door (Zitnik trains) to purchase track, and one thing made a LOT more sense there: EACH TRACK PIECE HAD A PRICE STICKER AND WHATEVER THE STICKER SAID THE PRICE WAS THE PRICE. At the next store, not only did I save money buying track but it was much swifter, and Gale at the counter was extremely helpful. From now own, I think we will do our train shopping there, where things are more convenient, swifter, and even cheaper. This is a hobby, and we don't want to spend our time hassling in a but rather getting our things and running trains. Thanks a lot

As a train enthusiast, I love finding train stores to go to and this one is well kept, affordable, well stocked. I am not from St Petersburg so whenever I am in town, we always stop in because it’s a “must go” before I leave back to Miami.

Very cute store, nice set up. But man the prices were way overpriced. I wanted to get my son the mighty mountain hape kids railway set but they had it for $299.99. Which after taxes over $300 bucks So while I was there I went online to see the prices. I got it for $124 from hape itself. I can’t see paying $300 for the same thing from the company selling it for $124 bucks and free shipping. But I’m sure they have rare things that you can’t get online. But I’m glad online exists cause $300 for it to me was way too much. I got my son this item plus a Melissa and Doug train table and was still cheaper for both items than they were selling it for that one piece. Hope they stay in business but I can’t see shopping mom and pop stores anymore cause I like to save money myself

HR Trains have been well established for decades, in Tampa Bay. They have a great knowledge base. This is your train headquarters!
