About Peace River Wildlife Center-Education Center
Peace River Wildlife Center is a non-profit wildlife rehabilitation and education center located in Punta Gorda Isles, Florida, overlooking Charlotte Harbor. Situated in the mangroves at Ponce de Leon Park, the center offers daily tours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a hospital that accepts wildlife from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day of the year, including holidays. Visitors can observe and learn about local birds and critters, with many rehabilitated animals on display. The center relies entirely on donations and gift shop purchases to fund its operations, as it does not receive federal support. The facility is appreciated for its friendly, knowledgeable staff and volunteers who share interesting facts about the wildlife. The gift shop offers a variety of items, perfect for souvenirs or gifts. Nearby amenities include a covered picnic area, a beautiful beach, a state park, and a boardwalk through the mangrove swamp leading to the Peace River, making it a popular stop for visitors. Overall, Peace River Wildlife Center is recognized as a welcoming, educational, and well-maintained place dedicated to caring for Florida’s native wildlife.
Small facility (but a new one is being built) and the staff more than make up for it with up close but respectful encounters with some of the captive birds.

It was smaller than we anticipated but there are a number of birds there that are being rehabed so, God bless these people for the work they're doing. It's a nice place to come check out some native species and see how they look up close and personal.
