Been working out here for over 15 years. The facility has a nice array of strength training and cardio equipment. The staff are great and always know your name upon check in.

Dynamic dance only once a week is far too few classes. It is an exercise that requires memory and physical exertion

This facility has decided that Dynamic Dance a great exercise Class for many of us who cannot do machines or land aerobics. It helps the mind helps the soul. What I was told is they can’t keep people in the class. That is new people in the class can’t keep up. Any Dance Class you need to have more than one a week. They used to have it three times a week. I’ve been coming to idynamic dance for at least six years. They were offered space at the Women’s club after Ian ruined Gilcrest for $35 an hour in the morning that they could offer this class to many participants. I was told the ymca did not want to pay that for a group of people that always dance together. Really we all loved and needed that class. You took away classes from our instructor. I am so disappointed with the Y. I quit you have taken away part of my life that I will never be able to replace. You don’t know how many other people Would have enjoyed the class and stayed with it and made friends and a family through Dynamic Dance and Charles. I know for a fact that many of us started out and have been going have since quit and they don’t go to Port Charlotte because their class was in Punta Gorda with their friends in Punta Gorda. I hope that somebody sees this and tries to rectify this situation. I also know for a fact there are several that are new that were coming three times a week and now that it’s once a week they don’t make it to that one either. I would love to talk to whom ever runs Ymca and Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda and I would love to meet them so they can meet me and see I really needed this class. And there is so many others that will need. I wear braces on both of my feet my memory is failing as I get older. But I went to the Mardi Gras dance the other night, and I remembered all the dances and I was with my friends You took that away from me. Nancy Silvers

Horrible experience with their summer camp. Their customer service and discriminate towards children with disabilities.

The guy that works the front desk, Shane. Is a guy that is not even qualified to work at a YMCA haha. I had to sign up for a new account and he said "he doesn't feel like dealing with it right now", so I had to not workout because he was too lazy lmao. Guy is a joke

Warm, welcoming and excellent, motivated staff! I can’t imagine a better place in Punta Gorda to work out with weights, classes or on the courts!

Gayle H.0210/23/2012Very friendly place. Still another gym that allows members to get away with not cleaning their machines!! Wellness Center polices their gym, Achieve Fitness and the YMCA.Update Feb. 2023 - I agree with Gayle. I have seen very sweaty persons get up off a machine that they leave wet with their sweat, walk away without cleaning it and go to another machine and do the same thing. I approached the management and they said "we are doing everything we can." Unfortunately lip service does not get it done. Covid 19 is still around. Hope they realize that.

This facility and their people are all so sweet and welcoming. I am not a member but they graciously allow me to use their facility when I have visited friends in Punta Gorda over the last 3 years. They allowed me to use their free 1 week trial which is so generous as I belong to another Y in another state however the memberships are not reciprocal. I would encourage anyone who uses this free trial to make a donation when you are done as they are a charity and rely on memberships to be able to run the programs they offer. One small donation can make a big difference so while the trial is free I encourage everyone to donate.

I just joined but from what I can see it looks amazing I used to go to the YMCA in Jacksonville and they were nothing less than spectacular

Very pleased with the tennis courts and the staff is super friendly. Mens locker room could use a refurbishment and a thorough cleaning but that’s the only knock I can give it.
