After looking at this "resort" website, we booked two nights here. This was for two people, my wife and myself, and we wanted to do some snorkeling while we were in the area. After walking into the room, we quickly realized that this was not a good idea. The rooms are less than basic - no headboards, minimum decor, and the bathroom could use a good power washing. I have stayed in a lot of places, but never seen a damage list for every item in the room (see the attached photo) maybe so the clientele can figure out how much they can afford to trash or steal ahead of time? We decided since the room was abysmal, we would sit by the pool until it was time for our snorkel trip. The pool is directly off of the highway, and the road noise is very loud. We took the snorkel/dive boat about 6 miles out to the reef for a two stop snorkel. When we got back on the boat between snorkels, the boat reeked of weed, which is strange, because the only ones remaining on the boat were crew members. Not cool if the captain and mate were lighting up while they are responsible for 19 snorkelers/divers. (Do what you want on your own time, but not while you are captaining a boat and responsible for guests - it's not like your guests could swim back to shore if you forgot someone). After a long day of driving to get to the "resort" and several snorkel stops, we were ready to go back to the room and relax, but our awful room was next to the Tiki bar where live music played until 9:30pm. The next night the tiki bar was packed and the live music lasted until 11pm, after which we were treated to some guy on his Harley outside of our door blasting a Jelly Roll song on repeat. This was probably a motel built in the 1950's or 1960's, and is in dire need of a good cleaning and update. Seriously, at $350.00 a night, I would implore the owners to spend some money to make this a decent place to stay. I would recommend staying here only as a last "resort".

Not at all a good experience. Very small room and the shower area was double the size of the room. It looked like a made up room behind the office for extra money. Uncomfortable bed. Wifi doesn't work properly. No soaps given in the room but only shampoos. You cannot sleep till 12 am as the noise from the bar won't stop and you will have to wake up at 5 am as the next room neighbors would start making noises. Prices of a resort and services worst than of a motel.

What a great place! Vintage Florida motel. Not a lot of amenities, but super clean. We had the two bedroom, that had a large walk in shower, micro and fridge. Beautiful, heated pool with lounging deck. HUGE tiki bar with entertainment AND locals to make everything welcoming. Although staff is amazing, THIS IS A BASIC MOM AND POP MOTEL. If you're looking for plushy this, and cushy that, this location may not be for you. They cater to scuba diving, therefore tile floors in the rooms. Clean tile floors...not questionable carpeting. If you're looking for safe, clean rooms and friendly folks, make your reservation now. Less than 30 minutes from Key West. Add on: We were running late and received a call from staff asking when we would be arriving. Say that last line again. Staff called asking when we would be arriving. This would not happen at a chain.Nearby activities: Central to the Keys, 30 minutes from Key West.

Awesome scuba trip. The dive location was unbelievable. Very high visibility and tons of different fish. Sarah the scuba instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend!

This location was perfect and being close to the tiki bar was awesome. I was concerned it would be too loud at night but not at all and the entertainment is fantastic! The staff at the resort was all amazing as well! Unfortunately we had something come up and had to head home a day early, the staff was kind enough not to charge us for the last night, much appreciated ?

First time visiting the keys, and couldn't have picked a better place to stay! 40 minutes to Key West, and Islamorada. We were greeted by Becca at the front office, she's the sweetest lady ever. She was so accommodating when our shower broke the first night, and had us moved the next day after our 1/2 day snorkeling trip to Looe Key reef. James and Josh were very knowledgeable, great sense of humor, and definitely made it a trip to remember. Tiki bar was popping for trivia night, had live bands. I couldn't ask for a more memorable and positive first time. --"Room 11"...we'll be back!

Did the half day snorkeling with Katie and Sarah and it was simply outstanding. Have been doing snorkeling trips in the keys for years but hadn't been down for a while. Was debating between Looe Key and another outfit and went with Looe Key as we were told by someone who worked for the other outfit that we should do Looe Key.In the past we had gone out on Looe Key and a couple others, but like I said, it's been about 10 years.I cannot say enough about how fantastic Katie and Sarah were. Possibly one of the best crews I've ever had the pleasure of boating with. Katie is an extremely knowledgeable and talented captain. Sarah was amazing as her first mate and was so very helpful with everyone. Never had to ask for help as she was right there, anticipating what everyone needed.Make no mistake, Looe Key snorkeling was fantastic.

My wife and I did a combo dive (me) and snorkel (her) trip with Capt Katie, crew member Chip, and Dive Master Darren on the Kokimo Cat II. What a great trip! Highly recommend. Here’s why.I’m a new diver, so Darren had the challenge of a new diver along with another more experienced diver. He met the needs of both of us without either of us having to make any sacrifices. As a group, they had quite a challenge because the age range of the tourists was from about 5 to over 60! They made it look easy taking care and catering to all of us.

My wife and I have visited three times in the last year and a half. We love staying at Looe Key Reef Resort. The staff has always been friendly with us at the front desk, the crew aboard the boat too! The Tiki Bar is nice because it’s right there next to the rooms and the entertainment can vary but overall good drinks and the food was good.If you’re looking for a nice, inexpensive, easy place to stay this is it. The rooms are pretty basic but the ones we have had have always been clean and stocked. We were given anything additional we asked for such as extra towels etc no issues upon request. The convenience is nice to leave your room and walk a few feet to the dive center and the boat. We love it and will definitely be back to stay for more reef snorkeling adventures!Walkability: Very close to the gas station for quick snack, Tiki bar on site, as well as close proximity to the dive boat.

Just a fun group of people to be around, my wife and I almost exclusively dive here. Beautiful reef and very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Always a great experience!

Great dive experience! Looe Key has such beautiful aquatic life. Reef sharks, grouper and amazing fan coral! Captain kept us safe and provided good guidance on how to navigate the reef.

Where do we even start? We heard about this place from a travel blog and the lady spoke so highly of her Looe Key Resort Snorkeling experience that we decided to give it a try. From the moment we met the crew we knew we’d have a blast. Captain Katie, first mate Chip and dive instructor Josh were all so friendly, funny and welcoming. They were thorough on their safety instructions, and how the trip would go. We even stopped once on the way out to grab a balloon that was floating on the surface to prevent turtles from getting caught in its string. The reef was incredible. The visibility was a little low from hurricane idalia stirring up the waters the week before. Nonetheless it was stunning and we saw a huge lobster, many colorful parrot fish, barracuda, and even a reef shark!! We had to cut our last snorkeling excursion short because of an incoming storm. Capt. Katie did fantastic driving back through rougher seas. At one point the crew put on snorkel masks to keep the rain from hitting their eyes. They had fun with it and made the most out of a less than perfect situation. Their priority was to keep us all safe and they accomplished that wonderfully! We had a complete blast and would do it again with this crew in a heartbeat!

Rooms were adequate, clean and beds were comfortable. Free wifi but I was never given the pass code. The only bad thing was the tiki bar next door had a live band, with the speakers all facing the hotel rooms so we had to listen to obnoxiously loud bass guitar when we were trying to sleep. If you're the kind of person that stays up late, this is a great hotel. If you go to bed early and get up early, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

Hands down the best. We come here every year. Snorkeled all over the keys and this is not only our go to for experience but Katie and crew (& Rudder) are just the coolest.
