I've owned over 75 vehicles in my life and have had to deal with many mechanics. Ron is very knowledgeable and trustworthy. I have brought several Diesels to him and consulted him on various other projects and he is the real deal. Highly recommended.

I have used Ron for over 15 years ... I have a Mercedes AMG vehicle and other. He is the only mechanic that has worked on my cars in those years Many times when I would bring the car in, he would identify the problem as a small issue that Mercedes had suggested was a huge cost item and a huge repair ticket. He is BY FAR, the most honest, reputable automobile repair person I have encountered in my life. I have had him work on collector cars etc as well. I have no idea what the person who rated them low on here is talking about, but it must have been a misunderstanding. Ron does not and never has tried to overcharge anyone, ever. In my experience it has always been the opposite. (I am not associated with Ron in anyway, other than the fact he is my TRUSTED mechanic. I ran across this review while looking for his address to give my wife as she was taking the car in today. I had to respond.)

DO NOT TRUST RON CHESTON'S !!!!! I took my vehicle in for an A/C concern. I drove almost 20 miles to his shop because he was recommended by a trusted friend. He told me he would call me later that day with their diagnosis. A few hours later he called, and said they put A/C dye in my system, did a thorough check of the system and could not find any signs of a leak. He suggested that I pick up my vehicle, and return if/when it stopped blowing cold again. I suggested to him, mainly because I was so far away & already was in a rental car, that he keep my vehicle overnight and recheck in the morning. He agreed to that being a good idea, Two hours later he called me back and told me they had located a leak in the compressor and would need a compressor, expansion tube and dryer/filter-which in my vehicle is part of the A/C condenser. He told me it would cost about $1,600. and could be done in about a day. I reluctantly agreed to do the work(even though I was not comfortable with what I was told). That was at about 3 PM in the afternoon. I called 2 master certified A/C technicians-both working in dealerships where they basically work on A/C systems all day long, and they both told me there was no reason to replace the expansion tube and dryer/filter, if the system had not lost all the freon, which Ron had told me it had not. I called him shortly before 8 AM the next morning and told him I could not afford that kind of expense and please just put my vehicle back together so I could pick it up later that day. Within in no more than 30 seconds he texted me a picture of my vehicle showing the grill and bumper cover removed and told me if I didn't want the work done it would cost me 10 hours labor. I asked him why and he told me that's what it is!! At that point in time I knew I was being SCAMMED, but he had me where he wanted me( $1000-no fix, $1600-fixed). I chose the lesser of 2 evils and told him to go ahead with the repair. When I picked up my vehicle, I looked at the bill and there was only 6.1 hours of labor charged, so my question would be why charge 10 hours for no repair, but 6.1 for the repair?? I also question why 2 hours later he was able to find a leak he couldn't find before, unless he figured if I change 2/3 of the A/C components, and put some A/C stop leak in to cover a possible leak elsewhere he would be covered!! I would not trust Ron Cheston's to give me the right time of day, BEWARE!!!!!!

I initially took my fiancee's 2013 Volkswagen Passat to Schumacher Volkswagen on Northlake Blvd for an oil change, and a service engine light (out of warranty). I was told it would be $1,780 because I had a cooling fan that needed to be replaced, as well as a "broken radiator support core." I told them to hold off. A friend of mine recommended Bowers garage so I took it in to have them take a look. After a day or so he called to let me know the cooling fan did need to be replaced, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with the radiator support core. Cost he said including labor he said was $650 or so, to which I said fine, take care of it. A few days later he called to notify me the car was ready, but that also it took him a little less labor time than he thought and was able to obtain the part for slightly cheaper so the cost would now be $590.00. As a fellow business owner, that speaks volumes to me about his ethics and customer service. For a service business to lower the price once it's been agreed to is a rarity, especially an automotive repair facility. I'll be sure to take any future vehicle issues to Bowers.
