I must say that I was very impressed with Steph. Her salon has an upscale cozy feel to it. She is super personable, knowledgeable, and passionate about hair care and her craft. She spent quality time examining my locs and scalp and educating me about my hair. I had been going to someone for 7 years to maintain my locs and up until I had a consultation with Steph, I thought they had been doing a good. I am looking forward to Steph getting my locs back on track and getting my hair to the next level! STELLAR TREATMENT!!!!!!

I went to this salon for a few years. YES, at first it was awesome. The people were friendly, but I noticed that the girls would always change. The new girls would tell me why they wanted to leave and how they were not treated right at the salon. What made me stop going there was when Steph started to act as if her doing my hair bothered her. A few times I got my hair done, she was upset, she had an attitude and was very unpleasant. While getting my hair done which took a few hours she would WALK away for 30 minutes or so without saying excuse me. I know people need a rest but at least let me know. She would schedule people while doing my hair, so that meant while doing my hair for hours she stops to do other people's hair which took 30 to 45 minutes. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? My friend used to get her dreads retightened and she had the same experience and so she stopped going as well. Is she good at what she does (at times) but I would suggest going to another shop who will treat you better and NOT as if they are upset when TAKING your money.RESPONSE: Yes, I did go for years and yes, I enjoyed it, but YOU started to act as if you had a problem doing my hair or wanting to be there. I understand someone having a bad day but not EVERY time someone shows up to an appointment. I do not talk much when getting my hair done but I am always friendly. To add, you when you did my hair and when you started doing it, my hair started thinning in the top because you were locking them too tight, popping them OR You do it for people to PAY for some laser treatment that you had there. I have a new stylist and my hair is thicker in the same spots that were thinning with you and it doesn't hurt when she finishes. So yes, you WERE good but then just started to go down so that is why myself and my friend left.

We called there to make a braiding appointment for our daughter. Apparently our speech pattern was not Ebonic enough. We asked do they provide hair braiding (look at the images posted on google) and the answer was a firm NO . Judging by the past poor reviews, maybe it is better to go elsewhere.

We haven't been here for about 6 years but let me tell you, Miss Steph would not tolerate an employee taking more than a certain amount of time on a client. I miss this place & I will bring my daughter back after the experience I had today.

My friend is in a electric wheel chair (we will call her Jane), she has a Service Dog from a well known Organization. The dog was vested and walking next to the wheel chair. Jane opened the door and wasn't even all the way in when the owner (she said she was the owner) said you can not come in with that big dog. Jane politely explained the ADA Law and the owner started getting loud and said if you don't leave I will call the police. Jane said ok I will wait for them right here in the store. Jane went outside to talk to the police, after they understood the Federal ADA law they still couldn't do anything, because it is a Civil thing. Americans with Disabilities Act is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on disability also applies to your Service Dog. I asked her if she would let me in with my SD and she got rude and asked me to leave. All Jane wanted was her hair washed.

My mixed race child gets pushed off onto the newbies they're testing out. I feel like they see her with me or my mother we get written off. Last time we went my daughter's hair looked tortured and the cut was not right. My mother went in my place and was told by the stylist how everybody in DR knows how to perm their own hair and do this that and the other however my daughter's hair which was already chemically treated was processed over the what had already been done damaging it more than it already was (just by nature of processing) The cut was uneven and shorter than requested. I had to fix it. I'm hesitant to trust anyone with textured hair experience bc I'm afraid that they'll see me or my light skinned daughter and get treated half way like I did here. Honestly I only gave this place a shot bc her old stylist moved to NY.

I'm pissed off. So I call this "salon" over the phone to make an appointment to get my hair colored and blow dried(saw they have Dominican blow outs) They tell me over the phone that I have to come in for a consultation. I'm like okay, although I've never had that with any salon I've been to. I'm okay with it because I'm thinking they want to make sure they do the best job. So I drive 25+ minutes out of my damn way and they don't even look at my hair. The owner is like "what do you want done?", so I tell her and she's like "okay when can you come in"? Not even performing a consultation. Y'all I drove to have a phone convo in person. What kinda stupidity is that? So I drove 20 minutes, left what I was doing and wasted gas to make the same appointment that I could have made over the phone. I would give a 0 star if possible. They will go out of business if they keep this up. The salon isn't even the nicest for the lack of decorum they seem to have. The young lady who made my appointment (which as you guessed will be canceled) was nice enough. The owner/hairdresser tried to make an appointment time I wasn't comfortable with and when I said no she acted like I inconvenienced her. I DROVE 20 minutes and put my responsibilities on hold because I was lied to about needing a bogus consult. They also seemed not to know much about getting a blow dry. Anyone under 30 with a life need not try this place. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I get angrier the more I think about it. I had to hold my tongue in the filth hole. Ended up making another appointment at a different place over the phone. Longer drive but anyplace but this.
