God help if you if you actually need to get through to customer service. If you manage to navigate the insane automated phone system, you'll be on hold forever. They also overcharge you with deceptive fees. Go to Enterprise instead. Way better customer service.

We had a great experience with Danny and Marcus on several occasions. Pick up was a breeze and they cater to our needs. The vehicle choices could be improved but service-wise, awesome.

I wish i could give no star. It was terrible costumer service. We came for the pick up car our reservation was at 9 am . More than 1 hours we just waited for them. If you have plans or need be rush never come back here. Terrible experience.and also they gave to us electricity car . And they didn’t say anything we didn’t understand because we never drive before electric car. Still we are on the miami way. You are terrible rent a car service

Get a rental car with them. They said the total amount I would be paying would be $850, I looked at my credit card account and they charge me $1,306. Thankfully, customer service helped realize they charge me a cleaning fee of $400. That is ridiculous. The car wasn't even that dirty. Who charges four 400 dollars to clean a car? Don't let these people scam you.

Avoid renting from here if possible. I rented a Tesla for a weekend trip and everything was perfectly fine until a day after I returned the car. Pickup was smooth, staff were nice enough, the vehicle was pulled up and both the staff member checking me out and I did a walk around and took photos of the vehicle, then I was on my way no complaints at all. The car was great all trip (St. Pete to Charleston and back). My issues started after returning the car. I dropped off the vehicle, did ANOTHER walk around with a staff member (outside and interior), the only issue noted was some scratching on the trunk which was present before I received the vehicle and which both I and Hertz had photos of, so that was ignored. I then settled up my bill and thought it was done. A day later I noticed an additional $400 charge on my credit card, so I pulled up the emailed receipt and there was nothing on there. Then I requested a new receipt online and saw a $400 "outside cleaning fee", I called the rental office but nobody answered so I called customer service and they explained this was likely a fee for smoking. The important thing is that I did not smoke in the vehicle, I don't smoke, nobody else smoked in the car, I didn't even have smoked foods in the car. I was told I would have to take it up with the rental location themselves. Finally I got someone on the line, they said there was an odor in the car (again, I did not smoke in the vehicle) and they also found "physical evidence" of smoking (impossible considering I didn't smoke in the car), when I asked what evidence I was told they did not need to tell me. I asked to speak to a manger and was told I already was talking to one, I asked for a refund and reiterated that there was no odor detected at drop off and that I don't smoke, they said I had to take it up with customer service (a classic runaround). I called customer service again, and was again told to contact the location. So I went to my last resort and disputed the charge with my credit card, it was removed in just a few days. My troubles did not end there. After I had already won my dispute I received a call from the rental location asking me to come in to fill out an incident report because they had "discovered damage to the passenger mirror" (again, there was no damage, we did a walkaround upon drop-off and I was given the all clear), I hung up as this was getting ridiculous, also I had payed for the damage liability waiver. No charges ever ended up coming from the second call. Clearly they were trying to squeeze extra money from me with the nonsense "smoking fee", then were upset they lost the dispute and tried to claim damage as well. Through all of this not a single person at the rental location or customer service was the slightest bit helpful, I even filled out a survey and requested to be contacted about my experience and got nothing. I will never deal with this location again and will likely never use Hertz in general.

This is, hands down, the worst quality vehicle I've ever had the misfortune of driving in my years of renting cars. I waited, along with several others, for over an hour past our reservations before they managed to get a car, which seems to happen fairly regularly there. The Civic I ended up with seemed more like I was borrowing someone's personal vehicle. It had numerous scratches (not unordinary), curb-rashed rims, a flaking/worn down steering wheel, and a gas door that was broken and would not close. Pictures were taken and I felt that with that documentation I was covered. Also, there was essentially no gas in the vehicle.However, when I began driving the vehicle any faster than 30mph there was significant shuddering through the steering wheel and seemingly from the rear of the car. It got so severe at some points that I had to pull over and make sure nothing was loose, smoking, or getting damaged. When I called Marcus, he essentially threw his hands in the air, told me it was on "the customer" to call other local Hertz locations to try and swap vehicles and to call the emergency line if I become stranded. Suprising to noone, the other locations on my trip were either closed, or unwilling to trade a beat up car for a better one. It was an unsettling 4 hour drive to say the least. This is far below the standard of quality any company should have for a newish rental vehicle with only 19k milesThe customer service is especially lacking, and as I waited I watched several customers before me leave frustrated, as they had to make concessions to their original reservations that were less than they initially asked. The staff shifted blame, dragged their feet, and had no empathy towards the situations they were contributing towards. While waiting, I listened to them make phone calls, asking customers who hadn't returned their cars for TWO DAYS what their current plans were and if they wanted to "update" their contracts. Maybe this is the reason why they do not have enough inventory to honor customers' reservations!I have no loyalty to Herz, and after this experience, never plan to rent from them again. Beware!

Hertz seems to hold a pretty high standard, so this doesn’t really come with a lot of surprise . But this passed week, I was blown away by an employee named Michael . He had to be manager or GM the way he conducted business and helped me out .The guy was extremely helpful, obviously knew what he was doing, and got me in-and-out, even after I basically showed up late (with 1 or 2 minutes to spare). Of course I was cutting it close with the drop off time too and after calling , he reassured me I had nothing to stress about . Made me an extremely satisfied customer and I will be back without a doubt .

What you should know about this location is 1) A reservation does not mean you get what you reserved. 2) If you make a 5pm reservation, do not arrive at 5:01 or you will be locked out. I wasn't late, but my reservation was at 5pm via the Hertz app. After seeing them lock up I asked what if I got there at 5:01, and the lady locking up said we close at 5pm. My experience: I reserved an SUV to move my daughter to college. I called multiple times in advance to see if I could pick up early. Rep was pleasant on the phone. Said no returns arrived. He offered me smaller vehicles, but I said I need an SUV to fit a long mirror. Knowing this, he never warned me that if a return doesn't arrive by my reservation time, I would be out of luck. If he did warn me of that, I wouldn't have been dropped off to find out later (after standing in line for 15-20 min) that an SUV was not available and they could not honor my reservation. So what do I do with my reservation, I asked. You can cancel it if you want he said. It was as if it was my problem and not his. Upon my request, he called a location 20 min away that was open until 6pm. They had an SUV. I had to ask him to call them back to let them know the situation and that I'm on my way. I took an Uber there. The Hertz system tried to charge me more than 3 times my reservation amount. It was only because I showed them my current reservation that they honored my price. So thank God I didn't cancel it. This was honestly the worst rental experience of my life. The US19 Clearwater location off Drew St was great. This location? Never again.

Today I went in an picked up a rental car. My experience was wonderful. Employee Claudia was was so Helpful and very quick. She really knows her job. And with her smile ? and attitude. Need more of her. Also spoke to a person Michael at the 62 Ave and 34th st. Rental. He was also great. So if you need a rental go to Claudia at Hertz at Auto Nation Ford in St Pete. Or see Michael at the Hertz 62 Ave n. And 34th st. Have a great day. Hope your happy with Hertz like I am. Kimberly Martinez

Since the new manager Marcus things have felt off. I’ve been a loyal customer with hertz for the last 3 plus years, renting from st Pete at least once a month up to 2 weeks. When Brian was the manager he was super accommodating and made feel like my business was worth having around. Marcus is the complete opposite. In his voice when I bring up concerns it just sounds like he doesn’t care. I used to be okay spending extra money to get better service with hertz but now I feel like my loyalty doesn’t matter. Budget and Alamo are generally cheaper and typically have worse customer service, but what’s the difference if I’m going to get that same service with Marcus now. It’s at the point where I’m ready to stop giving my business to Hertz.

I've picked up & dropped off from this location multiple times. Never have any issues. Marcus is very professional but I've never had an issue with anyone who has helped me. Good prices. Great service.
