Absolutely love this studio :-)The practices are so diverse. You will feel comfortable at your own level wherever that is and given the freedom to do so :-) I love that they focus on breath. Our most important essential. It's non-pretentious here. Your own practice is truly about you. The instructors are all amazing and very open. Open as far as open-minded open as far as making it about you open as far as their energies, you feel it. The energy feels amazing when you walk in the front door. Thank you all so much for this wonderful experience.

Such welcoming staff. I love the lounge area with kombucha and cold brew on tap. I also enjoy how dark the room is to practice in.

The shop owner was very welcoming. However, i did think going in that it was a good start for a beginner and it was a little fast paced for me. When i signed up for the class, i did not get any instructions to bring my own mat but they did let me use one for 2 bucks. The mat did smell like feet and the room was pretty hot. The last portion of the session was great and a good experience overall.

So tickled to have discovered this yoga studio! Barb and her team of instructors are all wonderful to deal with and there’s truly an all-embracing family here. All levels are made to feel welcome, and the special programming throughout the month makes this my studio of choice.

I'm here for Amanda Larson-Mekler. I've taken a few other classes from other teachers. Also keep in mind a lot of the teachers here, Amanda included, teach at other studios, so I've had their classes before.Amanda Larson-Mekler is the only teacher who routinely makes an effort to integrate breath and drishti into the practice. I wouldn't say she does a *great* job of it, in a vacuum, but compared to her peers it's a great job. In a vacuum it's a good job.I hate to sound elitist, but it's true: most yoga practitioners really aren't interested in practicing yoga. They're just interested in coming in and getting a workout. That's what 95% of yoga studios have devolved into, and this one is no exception.Yoga needs three things, called tristhana: bandhas (locks, beginning with moola bandha, or root lock; the practice should have both moola and uddiyana bandha, but at the very least a mention and effort to integrate moola), drishti (gaze--every asana has a direction you should be looking at, typically the tip of your nose or the tip of your middle finger), and ujjayi breath. Absent tristhana you aren't doing s**** Absolutely nothing spiritual is going on. It really is nothing more than glorified calisthenics, and you're paying a pretty price to do it. It's not even all that effective calisthenics without tristhana. I get that these studios are appealing to the lowest common denominator. I get that it's extremely difficult to make the business of yoga studios work. I get all that. But someone like Amanda Larson-Mekler is Ashtanga trained. She knows everything I'm saying is accurate. She's doing her best to integrate into this bastardized form of yoga, which is honestly flat-out culture appropriation. It's a damn shame, really. But that's why I come to Amanda Larson-Mekler's classes. (I'm specifically using her full name because there's another Amanda that teaches in the area/at this studio.) I'll make an extra effort to go to her classes, no matter what kind of class she's teaching, because I know I'll get closer to an authentic yoga experience with her than with 99% of other teachers in the area. Would I like more? Yes. I'd like at least a mention of the bandhas every now and then. She could reinforce the breath even more. She does do a great job of mentioning that the length of inhales and exhales should (be attempted to) be even. I'm pretty sure she's the only teacher in the area in led classes with this cue. But she could do even more. She could mention drishti or gaze even more.I don't know how limited her teaching style is by the politics of these places, where -- sadly -- I might be the only person in a class of 15 or 20 that has any idea what tristhana is, but at the same time: how do you think*I* learned? I had teachers that taught me from the very beginning. Thank the Universe they did. I had no idea how lucky I was. But how else will beginners learn? I think it's crazy that people must be practicing for years and still aren't integrating tristhana. And that's to say nothing of alignment. These studios are so incredibly lax on alignment, I swear. Whatever. This rant is long enough. Point is, if you're going to come here, and you want the closest approximation to an authentic yoga experience at the studio, take Amanda Larson-Mekler's classes. *drops mic*

Enjoyed a lovely flow here this morning led by Kristina and would definitely come back! The studio is large, clean and cheerfully decorated. I believe there were kombucha taps at the front desk. I liked the chalk wall of affirmations in the bathroom too! The class was a nice workout but not terribly challenging, which I like to mix in from time to time to complement my sculpt and power classes. Kristina had some great poses and cool transitions and her energy made me feel calm yet motivated. The sound healing at the end during shivasana was delightful too! Highly recommend this studio :)

My MiL babysat and I took a special 2-hour Yin class here a couple of months ago. It was so relaxing. Now I just need to figure out how to get here for the regular evening Yin classes they offer. Unfortunately timing has been off as my toddler goes down for the night between 7-8pm. The studio is clean and modern and I like that they offer more flow and yin style classes. Long holds, assisted stretches. After 2+ years of pandemic stress, it is a welcome pace. They also host drag yoga and other fun options.

Started SukhaLife because of the 3 classes for $25 offer. The Slow Flow classes is great for beginner/intermediate and the Flow class is a great workout that can be as challenging as you make it. The studio is decorated beautifully and everyone that works here goes out of their way to make you feel welcome.Would highly recommend to anyone in the St Pete area :)
