We were selling our car, so I went online to get an online offer. The process was super easy and fast. I set an in person appt and was greeted immediately when I arrived. The entire process took less than an hour start to finish. It was a great experience.

Good experience. Our salesman was great. Totally recommend him. Knowledgeable, low pressure and supportive. The process at CarMax was too slow. We paid cash with no financing and they left us there for hours. We knew what we wanted…we committed…we signed all paperwork. They need to augment their back office services.

Buying a car from Carmax is a great experience. Being able to find a vehicle in line and having it sent to the location of your choice is a plus. The entire process is straightforward and easy from beginning to end. Very satisfied with the purchase.

Update (3/4/25): Car shopped there with my son. Sales person Andy was great! They had some computer system issues, and a paperwork snag, but luckily got system working and caught the paperwork mistake and made it all good. Andy was apologetic throughout, though none of it was his fault. On top of that Carmax compensated us for our extra time spent there. Overall, a great experience, as always. Kudos to Andy and Manager Teri!
Update (3/24/23): Went there recently with my daughter's car. AC had died so requested service under the extended warranty she had purchased with the vehicle. Service Rep Jim was fantastic! Friendly, courteous, and professional. Car was fixed quickly and AC is ice cold!
From 4 years ago: Once again, Sonya @ CARMAX Service in Sanford is doing a great job taking care of my service request. This is the second time I have had her as my service advisor (previously for my wife's car) and she consistently is professional, courteous, and friendly.

I have bought cars from Carmax before though it’s been a number of years. This experience was not as smooth and pleasant as in the past. When the car that I had chosen finally got transferred to my location and I was ready to purchase the vehicle I was informed of a couple of things. One, one of the tires was a little low, and I was told to put some air in it, which I thought a little odd. Why did not Carmax put a few pounds of air in a tire that was low on a car someone was getting ready to purchase. Secondly, I was informed there was only one key fob, so I would have to call someone and pay for a second which is going to end up costing $250. And finally, three weeks after having the car the change oil light came on. So, I went ahead and took it to my mechanic and had an oil change done. He was not able to reset the computer because the menu button on the steering wheel was not functioning. I called Carmaxand spoke to service and was assured that they had done an oil change before I bought the vehicle. I have an appointment coming up to take the car in for them to check the menu button out. But I am guessing that if they did in fact, change the oil, they either forgot to reset the change oil button or when they attempted to they had trouble with the button but didn’t bother with getting it fixed. I understand that sometimes sales deals, don’t go smoothly. I spent many years in sales and had my issues at times as well. But this has left a bad taste in my mouth. I am hoping that when I take the car back next week to get this issue resolved that they will be more than willing to take care of the issue at no charge

We really loved the CarMax experience. From the moment we walked in, we felt at ease. The salesperson asked what we were interested in and showed us where the vehicles were located on the lot and then left us to look at them at our pace. We narrowed it down to 2 vehicles and asked to drive them. Salesman brought the first one around and turned us loose to drive it. When we returned he brought the second vehicle around and turned us loose once again. The price was competitive, so we chose the second vehicle, a 2021 Nissan Rogue Sport with very low miles. The paperwork was a breeze and the sale was quick and efficient. I will buy another vehicle from CarMax without hesitation. GREAT JOB!

I gave carmax a 3 star review because when I needed a vehicle I got one. However, the process and computer system was probably 2/5. Mind you. I purchased my vehicles cash, every time I called it seemed like someone was trying to get money from me for a car payment, so service 2/5. Same agent 2/5. I went to this location and Orlando Semoran location and the communication between stores is bad. 1/5. Both vehicles however I returned because I wanted the actual companies warranty. I learned that if I had just went to Audi or Tesla with my cash and purchased my money would’ve went further and I would felt more taken care of. They do inspections that I felt could’ve been more extensive because I was pregnant when the Audis collision system decided to glitch. (Hard break - when no vehicles were around) I turned off the collision system & I felt like the self driving vehicles meant safer transportation but in my case it wasn’t. I took the vehicle back and feel strongly they took note but probably sold the vehicle to someone else. Both vehicles Tesla Model Y and Audi has collision systems and were about 4 years old. A new vehicle is the only way I would use either manufacturer again. As a safe driver with no accidents, I feel it’s necessary for people to navigate responsively and I was happy to drive this vehicles… but again, carmax may have not been the right way.

Both sales associates that I had contact with were professional and there was no pressure to buy from CarMax. I had a car transferred in from another state and I was kept informed through the entire process. I love CarMax and this is the 6th car I have purchased there.

I recommend when you go to CARMAX Sanford to purchase a vehicle, ask for George. This guy is knowledgeable, patient and will make the experience of purchasing your next car very easy.
