I am so disappointed with my experience dealing with this location and as a royal member. When I walked in the person behind the desk was already on the phone with a customer that was complaining about an unauthorized charged (red flag number 1). When she completed that call and attended to me without her looking up my reservation I was told that there was no vehicles available and she don’t know why they allowed me to make the reservation (red flag number 2). I asked her to cancel my reservation so I wouldn’t get charged as a no show and I was assured that wouldn’t happen since they didn’t have any vehicle available (red flag number 3). Lo and behold 2 weeks later there was charged on my credit card, I called to handled it correctly and they couldn’t find the charge and I was told by a hertz representative to dispute the charge with my bank because they are not the ones that charged me. Once that happened all of a sudden you can find the charge in your system and I was charged the price of the rental because it was put down in your system as a no show how convenient.
When renting from this location please cross all your t’s and dot all your i’s because at this point this is considered theft and is unacceptable.

I am a Hertz Gold Member and have rented vehicles across many locations without issues, but my recent experience at the Hertz on Rinehart Rd, Sanford, FL, was by far the worst I have encountered.
I made a reservation around 8:00 AM and arrived by Uber at approximately 10:15 AM to pick up my car. Upon arrival, the representative at the counter informed me there were no cars available. When I asked to speak with the manager, she claimed to be the manager and reiterated there were no cars for me. I requested that they find an alternative solution—perhaps arranging a vehicle from the airport—but instead of assisting, she began hitting the counter.
Shortly after, another person appeared, introduced as the “actual” manager, who stated that since COVID, this is simply how they conduct business. There was no apology, no effort to honor my reservation, and I was ultimately told to leave the premises.
This is not the level of customer service one expects from Hertz, especially for loyal members. The lack of professionalism, problem-solving, and courtesy was shocking. If you value your time and expect your reservation to be honored, I strongly recommend taking your business to another Hertz location or a different rental company entirely.

*update I posted my original review on July 8th and I just checked my credit card statement today on August 1st and they charged me a 34$ cancellation fee when they had zero rental cars available! had to sit on the phone for 30 minutes to get a refund which is going to take 5-10 business day. They waited a week to charge me in hopes I would not notice.
Went to pick up a rental and when I got there I told the front desk I had a 1pm reservation. Without looking up from her computer the lady at the desk said “when did you make a reservation? We don’t have any cars available.” I told her yes I made one early that morning. She proceeded to ignore me and just started joking and laughing with her coworker. There was no apology for any inconvenience or trying to help me out as I was stranded there without a ride. I stood there for a few minutes waiting for her to ask for my reservation or at least my name but she continued to ignored me. I realized she was done talking to me so I asked if she could at least call another location and to see if they had any cars and all she said was “we don’t have their phone number.” She then proceeded to joke with her coworker about how the website should list when they don’t have cars available. I go and sit down on the bench and try to find another location. It was about 15minutes later and a lady was returning a sedan the same as the one I reserved. I asked the front if I could have that one and she says “no the windshield is broken.” Ok that’s understandable so I asked is there anything you can do to help me because I took an uber to get here. She said yes give me your name we’ll call if a car becomes available. I understand there is nothing they can do if people don’t return their cars on time but to not even offer an apology or try to assist them is absolutely ridiculous. I don’t expect them to just miraculously come up with a car but they could at least offer an apology or explain the next steps but they had me sitting on the bench for over thirty minutes laughing about how they don’t have cars and that it’s the website fault. Thankfully enterprise was nearby and the experience there was night and day. They did not have a sedan but upgraded me with no charge to an suv. If you need to rent a car go to enterprise and absolutely avoid this location.

Beware of this scam. I was provided a Hertz rental vehicle at this location as a repair loaner by a local dealership. The dealership was responsible for payment. The Hertz told me I would need to provide a credit card. I did. I was told to return the vehicle to the dealership, which I did. Several days later Hert charged me $500 to my credit card. No contract, no invoice from Hertz for the charge. Beware of providing your credit card with out a contract.

Rent a car from them If you want to get robbed, returned a car to them and they waited 3 hours later to charge me fees that they trumped up never did an inspection while I was there, inspection should have been done in the presence of the renter.

Matthew at the front desk was very helpful and worked diligently to solve an issue for my unique situation. When he got to a point to where usually people tell you “sorry I can’t do anything to help you” he did the opposite and called his District Manager Richard. To which they worked together for an extended period of time until we got my issue and all of my questions resolved. Moreover, they by far have been a saving grace for an unfortunate situation and I am still currently using Hertz services. Thanks guys!

We were in a pinch as my wife's car was in the shop unexpectedly and we have 3 little kids to get around to school and swim lessons plus myself to work. Everywhere local to us (45 minutes away from this location) was sold out as was the Sanford airport. We found Hertz on Rinehart and saw they had an EV managers Special and a very large truck, which was nearly triple the size and price we needed. We went with the EV special, despite us being unsure of what that entailed. We picked up the car a little after 9am and our intended drop off was between 4 and 5pm, so my wife could pick me up and we could head home. When picking up the car, I was told that the car needed to be returned with the SAME CHARGE as when we picked up - something we didn't take into account time wise (and should probably be listed as something to take into account when returning - especially SAME DAY). I returned to Sanford about 4pm and located several charging locations - one one had space available. It said it would be nearly 4.5 hours for it to charge to a full charge - which means we'd have been able to use the car for 3 hours and then would have had to put it on charge before 1pm to get a full charge to return by 5. Obviously, it was not possible to do - we were able to charge for about 30 minutes before the location was closing. We were charged a flat rate of $40 because it was not returned at a full charge. It is an absolute joke. No wonder it was a managers special - nobody wants them because you use it and charge it for a one day rental! Definitely $40 we didn't anticipate spending for an EV - especially on a one day rental! So -manager's special is a joke!

Did not have my car, did not call me to tell me they wouldn't have it. Couldn't help me in any way. Overall horrible experience definitely stay away if you want to get a car when you need it.

I booked a car online without providing any detailed information and easily rented it from the branch. The price was exactly as stated online, with no extra or hidden costs. It was my first time renting from Hertz, and their friendly service and quality won my trust. From now on, Hertz will be my first choice.

Rude, patronizing and unprofessional. They cancel my order because I won’t take a down grade. Went from renting a Manager special on. Veteran Discount to a Kia soul…same price.
While the car I rented is sitting there, tells me he has canceled my order. I called Hertz now the reason is I don’t have a credit on file to give me that car.
