SCAMMERS, be aware. They will try and scam you when you drop the vehicle off. You have no way to fight the cost. Per their “policy” once you take the vehicle off the lot regardless if there was damage on the vehicle prior. If you did not market the damage, it becomes your problem. Even a minor scuff.Be WARNED. Not a savings. You will get screwed.

As many others Google users mentioned, returning car is "scam".Returned my car on 30th Dec and on same day got surprised bill for inside cleaning of smocking. I am non smocker and now dollar charged me which is completely false.1.upon returning car, there is no one to inspect car.Tips: take photos and video inside and outdoor.. lots of photos to protect yourself.Give keys inside and not to leave in car and ask front desk to inspect. Give yourself extra 20mins to save fales charges. If they can't come to inspect then get the employee name to protect yourself. These location is scam foe returning car.

In a rental car now from this company and can’t get a hold of them on the phone to make changes , I have called to many times to count. I went to another location and they said they can’t help that I would have to drive all the way back to the place I rented the car. Customer service is absolutely terrible. I definitely won’t use this company again.

Booked two SUVs (Nissan Rogue or similar) for 303 CAD each for 4 days on Dollar's own website and received a confirmation email. Upon arrival, there were all sorts of hidden fees and it ended up being 374 USD (504 CAD) each. This included liability for 15 USD per day since they are willing to give you a car without one. This is illegal in Canada and included in the price of the rental. Then to add insult to the injury they gave us one Rogue and one Rogue Sport. Rogue Sport is an entirely different car, not even an SUV! The cars were old and not in great shape. They had newer Rogues but said they won't give them to us without charging us more. Overall very poor, scammy experience. Stay away. I did read some poor reviews but decided to take the risk and go with the cheaper price. This was a poor decision because it ended up being expensive AND poor.

Rented a car for a week of vacation, expecting to get a compact gas car. Arrived to find the only options were electric Chevy Volt or $20/day upgrade to a Mustang or Camaro. We absolutely did not want an electric car. Did not want to spend our vacation time at a charging station waiting hours for the car to charge. Seeing we were not planning on driving much, just to and from the resort with a couple of trips for dinner or the store, it made no sense to pay the extra money for a car to sit in the parking lot. Reluctantly took the Volt. Never drove one before so we didn't know what to expect. There was only 56% charge on the battery, barely enough to get to our resort. Went back to the desk, said we did not want a car that was not fully charged. If it were a gas car you would expect that it would have a full tank. Told the clerk I would not spend half a day of our vacation looking for a charging station and spending time waiting for it to charge since we were not the ones who used it last. He finally said he did have a Tesla which we finally decided to take only after finding out we could charge a Tesla at the resort. He said he would put a charging fee on it so we wouldn't need to return it fully charged. But when we got in it this car was only charged 76%. It was enough to get us there so we took it and charged it at the resort. We returned it with 78% charge. Told the clerk that I didn't feel I should pay the charging fee since it was higher than when we got it. They were very rude and insisted there was no charging fee on the bill. But when we got home I got a receipt in my email saying they were charging our credit card $35 because it didn't have a full charge. Bunch of crooks. Bait and switch giving us less of a car than we rented and charged us for it. Will never do business with them again.

DO NOT RENT FROM DOLLAR AT SANFORD AIRPORT!!! They are scammers. They charge your credit card for erroneous things! We went to a family wedding and rented from Dollar due to their reasonable rate for a small SUV. When I got to the desk, the guy tried to up sale me to a regular SUV. When I declined, he told me I could only get a Toyota Corolla or an electric car. I disputed it and said I reserved and pre-paid for a small SUV and that is what I expected. He went in the office and came back with keys for a Chevy Trailblazer. Everything went fine until we returned the car two days later. No one was there to accept the car and there was a sign to remove our belongings from the car, leave the keys in it, and go on to the terminal. We took pictures and video of the car. While waiting to board our plane, I received the final folio/invoice, which was just what it should be. When I got home later that day, I got another email with a $400 smoking fee. No one in my family smokes! My husband is a cancer survivor that has lung issues from the chemo. He can’t be around smoke. It’s been two weeks and I’m still fighting this charge. I’ve already got my credit card company involved and am prepared to get an attorney involved. These people are horrible and take advantage of travelers who have already left the state. Do not rent from them!!

11/2/2023-DO NOT rent Dollar rental car at Sanford Airport.Hertz and Dollar are sharing the same space at Sanford Airport. Hertz checked out 5 customers already and then there are 2 customers at Dollar and we are one of them. Super slow because they kept asking abt insurance, fuel, upgrades, etc. What is the a point to give Dollar all the information such as your license and your credit card information before upon on arrival and listen to them again?I was asked if I want to upgrade to EV car and I told Izzy no thank you and I just wanted a car that I reserved which is a compact car I reserved through Travelocity. Izzy told me since I do not take the EV car he would have to charge me $70 dollars because I didn’t want an EV vehicle. I have never heard of this. So I called Dollar 1800 number and I was told by Paul that he emailed a request to Dollar at Sanford airport to refund me $70. I would be surprised if that is that were true or not. What I learned so far is never book anything on Travelocity and Dollar car rental at Sanford Airport.

If you are at Sanford airport renting from Dollar or Hetz, be careful!!! They tried to give me an all-electric vehicle and when I refused it, I was forced to pay extra to get gas because I had to go 'up a category' to get a gas vehicle They wouldn't honor my price; they charged me the per day difference! When I asked how I could request gas vehicles in the future they told me I couldn't; it's hit or miss with what's available. Hmmmm....what kind of customer service is this? I'm not up for "hit or miss" and then getting ripped off by being forced to pay a higher rate. Solution: TURO app with specific car rental. Dollar and Hertz, unless you fix this, you've lost my business forever.

Pleasant experience renting however upon return their return gate was locked, drove around three times to figure out where to return the car. After parking near the return, i was told i had to move the car and park in a different lot. Their signs were not marked like the other rental companies, just cones in place. Posted on both Hertz and Dollar as the same person works both counters here.

Stay far far away from this company! Didn't have our car ready as we requested, gave us the wrong type of car, then on top of that, a flat tire the day after we rented it. AWFUL!!! Completely ruined our Disney vacation!

I rented a car from Dollar Car Rental. On the last day of my vacation the car wouldn’t start. I was out doing a little bit of last minute shopping, I came out to the car ready to go to the next store and the car was saying no key detected. So I call Dollar Car Rental talk to a gentleman and he said a tow truck would be here in 90 minutes and that I must stay with the car. So I wait the 90 minutes. Mind you I was on the phone with him for 30 minutes previously to him calling the tow truck. Trying to troubleshoot the car. I rented the car from Sanford airport and drove to Daytona Beach. After the 90 minutes was up I call back and speak to a lady named Deborah. She proceeded to tell me a tow truck company hasn’t picked up the tow yet. As I’m waiting at the car in 105 temperatures and I have COPD. I had kids waiting for me at the hotel. I was put on hold at least 6 times and I said I’m done with this situation I’ll deal with it tomorrow. Mind you I have a flight to catch in the morning and no running car to get to the airport. I had to catch a Lyft back to my hotel. I couldn’t stay out in the heat with my COPD any longer. Deborah told me to put the keys under the passenger side floor mat and the tow truck would be there. So that’s what I did. It is now 10pm I still don’t have a running car and I have to pay $83 for a Lyft to the airport in the morning, when I payed for a running car all week. This happened at 5:30pm and at 10:09pm the car still isn’t picked up. Was I supposed to just hang out in a hot car for 5 hours? I then called and talked to a Rick and he put out a tow truck to pick up the car unattended. Rick also told me that there’s no supervisor and no email to contact a supervisor. I am 40 miles from the airport I need to be at in the morning. Dollar Car Rental just left me stranded on the side of the road. It was getting dark and a storm was rolling in and Dollar Car Rental did not care! Dollar Car Rental wouldn’t send another car out so we could still get to the airport in the morning. I paid for a car for all week. The car didn’t last all week. I’m just glad I had the means to get a Lyft or we would have been stuck standing on the side of the road. Do not rent a car from Dollar Car Rental! They have no concern for the renters of the cars. I really feel like they don’t even care about the cars. I hope tomorrow when I get to the airport I can talk to a supervisor. I surely wasn’t getting a supervisor this evening. I will not rent a car from this company ever again. Thanks Dollar Car Rental.

We needed a rental last minute on a Friday afternoon and Dollar was the most reasonably priced and conveniently located. The manager helped my husband and we returned today, Monday, to change some of our rental. Again, the manager assisted us and she couldn't have been more patient with us. She researched all of our options and prices to give up the best possible terms and pricing. Even though there were people waiting in line, she didn't rush us. We are so appreciative of the her efforts and time spent with us. She went above and beyond, thank you!!

Dollar Rent a car in Sanford airport is to be avoided at all costs. They use excessive insurance and fees to drive a typical car rental cost to the equivalent of a luxury vehicle. They mislead by talking fast and avoiding paper making you sign a digital screen
