Hours: LaPorte Farms petting zoo is a charming and well-maintained farm located in Sebastian, Florida. Established in 1994 and now a non-profit organization, it spans five acres and is known as Sebastian's best-kept secret. The farm is home to a wide variety of animals from around the world, including zebras, ponies, goats, geese, chickens, turkeys, pheasants, albino peacocks, horses, rabbits, llamas, alpacas, parrots, tortoises, skunks, and more. All animals are rescued and are well taken care of, with many enjoying misting and sprinkler systems to stay comfortable in the heat. Visitors can enjoy free activities such as a train ride around the farm, fishing pond, duck pond, and picnic areas—making it a family-friendly destination. The farm offers educational programs for children, teaching them about animals and their origins, along with arts and crafts activities. There are also pony rides for just $5, horseback riding, and opportunities to adopt stuffed animals for reading programs. In addition, LaPorte Farms has a gift shop and a cafe serving drinks and snacks. Visitors can rent goats to help clear land naturally, avoiding herbicides. The farm features three cabins available for overnight stays, where guests can listen to the animals at night. Open from Monday to Saturday, the farm is accessible with handicapped parking and bathrooms. Everything is run on donations, which support the farm’s operations. Visitors praise the friendly staff, the cleanliness, and the variety of animals, noting that the farm provides up-close animal interactions and numerous activities for children and adults alike.
