Responding to the response of my first review. I searched PF site using the specific link provided in the comment and took a screenshot of the information when I tapped on cancel membership. Then I searched outside of PF site and took a screenshot of the information required to cancel through the mail. I'm still not seeing the convenience for the customer without having to give information that is questionable to send through the mail. But yes, the only other option is to go into a PF location.

This gym sucks medicine balls.Had a membership here since they first opened until the pandemic. Thought I'd try it again and I signed up in early Jan when it was still 24 hours access and then two weeks later they changed the hours to close at 11PM (and much earlier on weekends). I told them I prefer to work out late, to avoid the crowds, so I was leaving. But they charged my card anyway, 50 bucks instead of 20, as they say the 150% fee is because the first form of payment didn't go through. Yet, they had no issue charging my secondary form of payment. They did this two months in a row before I caught it. So now I'm out 50 bucks. They then said the only way to cancel is by coming back down there (I had already told them in person once before). I went down there and the manager, Jose, was smug and rude. No people skills to speak of.Jose said the extra 30 bucks he charged me was because the first of the two forms of payment I provided him didn't go through. This was because I disputed a charge in the early days of the pandemic (back in 2020) when they charged me, even though the city had shut down and I couldn't come in in person to cancel. So, I had to dispute the charge at my bank. Given that this seems like a basic misunderstanding I was willing to keep my membership active, since it's just two blocks away, but the manager was unwilling to remove the 30 bucks extra in fees they charged me for the inconvenience of having to use my 2nd form of payment when the first didn't go through.Again, that was because they charged me during the pandemic and the only way I could remove the charge was to dispute it.Since Jose was unwilling to remove the fees I shouldn't have been charged in the first place I looked around for an alternative--and was stoked to discover Gold's Gym on Fig. And I'm a member there now instead. The rest of the employees at Planet Fitness seem nice, but really stoned. And not very knowledgable about the equipment.Just outside the front door are two hobo camps you have to pass through to get to the gym. The dudes are pretty cracked out most of the time and there's no security around. Couple weeks ago a dude was passed out on the sidewalk with his arm hanging over into the gutter. Almost had to step over him to get by. You'll be walking through a lot of their pee. Pretty dangerous area--definitely no place for a female.Gold's Gym is less than a mile away and is about five times the size, cleaner, and has a hot tub, sauna, steam room, and an olympic sized pool. Free parking. Safer area. And nicer staff to boot. Also, they let your friends come workout with you for free! Planet Fitness charged my buddy 25 bucks to workout with me for 30 minutes. Gold's Gym is so much better--it's really a no brainer.Don't waste your money at Planet Fitness, it will cost you more than you think. If it was free that would still be too much.Planet Fitness doesn't have most of the things a normal gym has--even my girlfriend's apt gym has a preacher curl bench. Planet Fitness? Nada. I've been going to gyms since the 80s and have never seen one without a preacher curl bench. Really weird.Want a declined situp bench? The one at Planet Fitness barely has any decline, and it's not adjustable. Again, just weird.Squat rack? Nope. And the list goes on.Just basic stuff that all gyms have, Planet Fitness is woefully missing.Bikes and treadmills take up the entire top floor and half the bottom floor. It's what they focus on, and very little in the way of resistance training. And since they don't have much equipment be prepared to wait awhile for your chance to use what little they have. Also, went there a couple weeks ago (one of my last visits) and some hobo was sleeping in the back next to the machine I wanted to use.Skip this gym.

The new NON 24/7 hours policy is a HUGE no no. How are you going to have Friday and weekends close earlier?! I joined because of the 24/7 flexibility of being able to go in whenever needed ): Friday - weekends should at least be till 12am if not 24/7. This is so disappointing T_T PLEASE AT LEAST EXTEND HOURS TO MIDNIGHT for Fri-Sun

Bathrooms are constantly dirty. Smelly. Nasty. I'm here every day and I see the same stains on the floors from the previous days... but there are yellow caution things up like they cleaning. Do better. All these homeless ppl coming in here due to location and and leave it nasty, y'all gotta do better. Puddles of cleaning spray on the floor and I've seen them walk by with the mop and not even touch it...

Hi reaching out in hopes a matter of a problem get resolved in the future. Or so it won't happen to anyone else. I've been a member for a long time now and I usually find it easy to come to the planet fitness in dtla since it's near my job. I like the idea of planet fitness allowing high school student to come in for free although it does get busy way more. Last night on the date of August 16, 2022 at the planet fitness in dtla I was working out in the upstairs section area. When suddenly about 5 or 6 high school kids entered the facility on the hill st side. Someone was working gout next to me when I realized they must've none her so they proceeded to talk to her while I noticed one of them try and bug the employee that worked there although it seemed she didn't reliable they were talking to her . So one of them made eye contact with me and suddenly start to bug me and ask for my phone number in the middle of the workout . I didn't take this lightly at all and told them to leave me alone and walk away they insisted and continued while one of the planet fitness workers was standing by the door I immediately looked at him and told him to do something and kick them out . I felt harassed. I pay for my monthly membership for this gym to come and get a good workout as others do, for high school students to walk in freely and harass people. I hope this reaches the CEO and stop allowing this it's not right at all. And I hope it stops I'm the near future .

There's a lot of mold in the men's showers. You need to keep on top of this. Please fix this so I don't have to share photos with LA city council. It's a health hazard...

Please note that this review is from a subjective standpoint! I came to visit to look around last week before signing up. STEPHANIE was absolutely fantastic in explaining to me the difference between all the memberships. Despite the front desk being short-staffed, I noticed her tending to ALL of the guests, helping out each and every customer as much as she could. I felt bad since I had a lot of questions to ask. She was very patient with me & offered all the help she could give! Parking must be a hassle since the gym doesn't provide one for the members but, I park at the Pershing Square parking garage for work & it's only about a 3-minute walk from the garage to the gym. Gym looks pretty neat & tidy - except some restroom stalls in the morning. One of the stalls were clogged up but as I got out of the shower & was getting ready for work, one of the staff members came to clean the restrooms. I guess I came in too early before the cleaning was done? I haven't used all the equipments yet but I mostly use the running machine anyways. Honestly, I just need a safe place to do my walking & jogging... so it fits my needs. Also, I noticed they don't accept credit cards as a form of their monthly payment, which baffles me. The critical reviews regarding this matter are kind of scary... Crossing my fingers.

Echoing what others have said recently. Wayyyy too many of the machines are constantly broken. The cable machines are all missing carabiners so you can't use any of them. Staff is friendly, but that can only go so far with a gym you expect to have a wide range of things you can do at. If I wanted to do just cardio, I'd go outside. I know this isn't Equinox, but I expect to have SOME variety in machine usage. *Updating the review to say that I wish I could give this place zero stars now. Ever since school let out, the place is SWARMING with pre-pubescent high school kids mostly standing around taking up machines. Looks like PF just made my decision that much easier to go find a better club. Way to prioritize your paying guests, PF. *slow clap*

This place is so wack. Everything is broken. The clips for the cables seem to be nonexistent. It smells like cigarettes downstairs every single time I come here. I wouldn't even leave a star if I didn't have to in order to submit this review. These guys are destroying my routine. Pretty anti fitness if you ask me.

I just can't attend this gym anymore. Machines are always broken, and the cable machines are always missing carabiners for the bars. It's probably not the teams fault, it's just that DTLA isn't place to expect a clean and working gym.

I usually work out at home, but all my stuff has been stored while my house is being renovated. I signed up for planet fitness in Alhambra and I was very pleased. They have a wide variety of equipment. They're not overly crowded, and a staff is very helpful and polite. Some of my friends prefer LA fitness because it has more free weights. I'm more of a machine guy and they have plenty of machines without too much crowding. The staff is helpful without being pushy. I understand they've brought back the trainer, but I haven't worked with one yet. I'll probably keep my $10 membership when I go back home because it has many things that I don't have and it's a good place.
