This is John's Quality Auto on Seminole Boulevard. I am restoring a 68 SS El Camino number matching big block that I purchased from the original owner. I bought a complete glass kit from a restoration company and decided I'd pay a professional to install front and rear windshields to get a nice job. I lost the glass guy I used for many years due to cancer. I found Rick which seemed to be located a couple blocks from my shop and had good reviews. I called him to set up an appointment on a Monday morning, he made an appointment for Thursday between 8:00 and noon. He pulled a no call no show on me. That should have been a warning sign. I called him a little after 12:00 and asked if he was still coming and he said he got stuck in New Port Richey and his wife was supposed to call me the prior day to let me know. Not sure how she would know he was going to know he was going to get stuck on a job the next day? I told him I was in the process of moving and couldn't stay any later today. Asked if he could come first thing in the morning figuring that would have been around 8:00 a.m. I told him I get to my shop at 6:00 a.m. anytime after that is fine. His wife said that he could be at my shop at 6:00 a.m. which did not happen. And he said he would call me when he got home and looked at his schedule and that did not happen either. All of that should have been a sign for me to look somewhere else. He quoted me $300 to install my front and rear windshield. I've been around body and mechanical shops my whole working life and seen hundreds of windshields put in. Could of bought the materials for about 40 bucks to do it myself and done a better job than Rick but I was willing to pay for a good job. Old glass was removed, fresh paint, all he had to do was the install. No trim removal or install. Just set the glass on clean paint and go. All said and done he was in and out in less than 45 minutes so basically he got about $260 cash in that time for labor. He applied the urethane to the body of the car which I have never seen before. The problem is you really don't know where the windshield lines up on the body which is why you apply the urethane to the windshield and set it in. At one point he opened my door and stepped on my brand new polished aluminum sill plate to reach the middle of the roof instead of getting a stool out of his truck which I viewed as very disrespectful when somebody's got a classic car they're restoring. The aluminum plate was 3 days old without a scratch. When he was done he said he went a little high with the urethane but the trim should cover it up. I barely looked at it and paid them so they could get out of there because I was pretty much sick to my stomach and I figured next week when I put the window trim on I would keep an open mind and see how it looked. He got urethane on my gold Dash panel and rear panel. It is supposed to be within the black paint and not visible, but it is touching the gold and all the way across my dash. The only way to repair this is to pull the windshields, strip the urethane and repaint which I will have to do after I move. I will also have to remove most of the Interior to do this. The damage he caused to my car exceeds 10 times what I paid him to do the job and I'm really not sure how he got so many good reviews unless he's buying them and giving a discount on his work for them to leave a good review. I would stay far away from this guy. I contacted him 5 days ago with several pictures of how terrible it looks and let him know the trim did not cover it up and he has not gotten back to me. Not even an apology for damaging my polished aluminum or doing a lousy job. UPDATE: They called me after leaving the review only to play the blame game and say it didn't look like that when they left and some one pushed on the glass after they left. Rick also said he did not open my door and stand on the aluminum, as his wife said his shoes would not of done that. They lied numerous times and although they responded that they stand behind thei

RUN from these SCAMMERS! They quoted me what seemed like a fair "cash" price for a new windshield. They came and installed the windshield quickly and insisted that I pay with literally cash or Zelle (should have been a red flag). I paid and then the first time I rode in my car I noticed that the windshield was defective! The glass is wavy/warped which distorts the view and causes a safety issue. The glass also has no tinting and is missing the top and bottom shade bands that my old windshield had. I contacted Big Rick's to find out why the glass was inferior and was told "It's exactly the same as the one that was in it". I sent them a side by side picture of my old glass with the new glass and they recanted and said "The blue shad band is $200 more than the one we installed. We were helping you save money." I NEVER asked for help saving money and they tried to pass off this inferior product as "the same" hoping I wouldn't notice. They promised to come and swap out my windshield again for a non-defective windshield last week. Then they stopped responding and blocked my calls/texts. I will be reporting them to the State of Florida as well. AVOID THESE SCAMMERS!!!
