Cute and charming. I really appreciate that George is supportive of nature on his property. He is very sweet to talk to and I am glad I could purchase some of his pieces! I especially loved the handwritten quotes taped around his gallery. I might have to drive back from Jacksonville just to buy the dish that matches the pieces I bought!

George's pottery is unique and functional. We needed new coffee mugs and found them here. I also got a bowl - not that I needed another one but it was too beautiful to leave! George is an artist and craftsman. Spend a little time visiting and you'll find he has a great sense of humor and a creative, sensitive and loving soul!

I have a coffe cup that was given to me for a birthday gift in 1990, made by George. I've had many conversations n made many friends down thru the years because of his love for pottery. Never visited the store, but I'll be there soon!

I had passed by the sign many times over the years on my way to/from Tallahassee to Saint George from Atlanta. Yesterday I stopped in - very glad I did. George was warm and engaging. We talked about his art (he blends his own clays and glazes, uses a wood fired kiln) And his love of local flora and fauna. I purchased a beautiful platter for our anniversary next month as a surprise for my wife - she will be elated. Take time to stop in and say hello in there!

We did visit the pottery shop . There were rows of hand made lamps on several shelves . The lamp we bought was unique . With the rope looking handles , it looked as though it were once a pot , turned into a lamp . Beautiful work . Worth the visit to see for yourself .

Very disappointed. Some friends and I were on a bike ride when we happened upon George Griffin Pottery. There was a very clear sign out front that said "No Bicycles", so being respectful of the sign, we left our bikes out front and walked all the way in. We were met by a man who I am assuming was George. He asked where our car was. I told him we walked in and asked him if that was a problem. He said you're already here and he opened the door to the pottery shop.
We walked in. A friend with me asked him a question and he turned around and walked out slamming the door without even answering them.
Well, that was it for me. I decided at that moment that there was no need for me to patronize a business that seems to have a problem with a potential customer just because we were on bikes. I left.
There were two other people on bikes that stopped as we were coming out and wanted to know if it was worth "walking" back there and leaving their bikes up front. We told them not to waste their time.
What a very poor business decision on this man's part. Guess he doesn't realize that although we may be on a bike, we also own a car and if we had found something we wanted, which most likely someone would have purchased something, we would have driven back.
We believe in supporting local artists. This is one local artist that I will never support.

I had pottery made by George over 20 years ago, my Grandmother bought it for me as a graduation gift. I love it, it is as beautiful now as it was then. I remember George well and I hope to get back there soon. Such amazing art work!!

If you are interested in the intriguing charm of handmade pottery, each piece of which has its own unique story, you must visit George Griffin’s Pottery place in Sopchoppy, North Florida. Nestled amongst the woods, in his very own sanctuary, George has handcrafted all the pieces he sells and has even built the building in which he showcases his handicraft. A solid member of the community, George has a sharp wit and he shares the fun with his faithful dog. George Griffin’s Pottery is a must see for any tourist.

I am a regular customer for the past 15 years. We have purchased plates, bowls, lamps, mugs, bird houses and probably a few things I've forgotten about! I especially enjoy being greeted by Molly, George's furry companion that will greet you with a wagging tail and looking for some petting. However, she enjoys chasing bicycles, which puts her in danger chasing bicycles on the highway. George posted a sign at the entrance that bicycles are not allowed. You also have to be careful that Molly doesn't jump into your car, she's very friendly!

Bicyclers...stay away. For some reason, the owner/potter hates people on bicycles. I'm a retired Navy man traveling America full-time in my RV. I love visiting and purchasing from local potters. I have pieces of hand thrown pottery from all over the United States. Something passed onto me by my late wife. Currently hanging out in Sopchoppy, Florida, I thought I would visit this potter while out for my daily bike ride. The man intercepted me the moment I walked in the door with the words, "oh, you're a bicycler." He then told that he has very negative feelings about bicyclers and he wanted me to leave his property immediately. I've never felt that kind of hatred because I enjoy bicycling. I left as requested. Can't really tell you what kind of pottery this guy has.
