Make an appointment. Saves time. South Miami Animal Clinic was introduced to us when we adopted our first family dog. We go here because they take care of our feline and canine family members.

I was at my wits end and needed a second opinion. My boss recommended me and I couldn’t be more thankful. While we did, unfortunately, have to put my dog to sleep, Dr. Oliveira and her team were finally able to give us a diagnosis that our other vet could not. They treated me and Cash with the utmost care and respect, even in his final moments.Team, thank you for all your efforts to help Cash. It was greatly appreciated!❤️

THEY ALMOST KILLED MY DOG/ CASI MATAN A MI PERRO!!if I could rate them with negative stars, I would. If you care about your dog/cat/ pet DO NOT COME HERE. My dog had a tumor on his leg that needed to be removed with surgery, to be able to test it and know what it was. 3 days after the surgery, because they gave me the wrong cone (a short one) my dog ripped off the bandage and the stitches. This happened on a Saturday, so I waited until Tuesday and bandaged him myself (since they are closed Sundays and Mondays) to take him back again. The first thing I asked the vet was if the results were back, which she says “Yes, it was a Lipoma (benign tumor), but we called and told you on the phone”. Of course I started crying of relief immediately but told her I never received a called from anybody there. Long story short, she had just gave me another’s patient results and my dog’s results weren’t ready yet. Back to square 1. After she stitched him up again, she came to let me know he was done and that she had put a bandage that SHOULDN’T BE REMOVED FOR 10 DAYS. After that, she disappeared and left me waiting in that filthy “operating room” with my dog that had started waking up. Suddenly this young guy comes in so I can pay and gives me 2 pills so that my dogs stays calm and doesn’t try to take the bandage off again.4 days later I called cause the wound started supurating and smelling gross (always with the bandage on, as the vet had indicated), they told me “It could happen” and to come back in 10 days as they had told me. LET ME TELL YOU THAT NO ONE HAD GIVEN ME ANTIBIOTICS on my last visit. That was on Saturday. Tuesday 4th of July my gut was telling me something was really wrong and that I had to take him somewhere else. Wednesday first thing in the morning took him to another vet and he had THE WORST INFECTION. The vet told me we arrived just on time and he had to stay hospitalized for 3 days. He said “bandages should never be kept for more than 24 or 48 hs” by that time, my dog had had ir for 8 days in a row WITHOUT ANTIBIOTICS.My follow up appointment with South Miami Animal Clinic was on Friday 4/7 (10 days after they stitched him up again), they called me on Thursday (4/6) ONLY ONE TIME (I assume to confirm the appt), DID NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE AND NEVER CALLED BACK AGAIN, EVEN AFTER I MISSED MY APPOINTMENT (because my dog was hospitalized somewhere else). THEY NEVER CALLED AGAIN TO SEE HOW MY DOG WAS DOING OR WHY I HADN’T SHOWED UP.It’s been 2 months, and a very long recovery for my poor baby that had to suffer their malpractice and negligence. Now that he’s ok I can write this and try to warn all of you, so you don’t have to go through the same I did.

Wonderful staff, and very caring vet.My dog is very reactive, hates going to the vet and needs to wear a muzzle. Dr. Oliveira and her team are extremely patient, understanding, and are able to safely handle my dog.I can’t thank SMAC enough for their professionalism and willingness to work with aggressive dogs.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT recommend and it will cost you a big fee to go to these people. Good luck keeping up with the county’s mandatory rabies and county tag without getting a violation fee from the city. We just got our first violation thanks to this clinic and we’ve had 5 different dogs in the last 13 years without ever getting fined before. I made the mistake of getting the first round of vaccines for my family’s newly adopted dog here (since my family insisted this clinic was just closer to them) instead of going to my trusted clinic in the Grove for my other dog of 7 years now. This is the only veterinary clinic of all of the different ones I’ve gone through that DOES NOT notify their clients of what their pets are due for. Not a single phone call, no voicemail, not one single email from the exact email address the receptionists spelled out for me and that also matches their website. It is standard practice for clinics to remind their clients of when their pets are due. The receptionist confirmed she has my right email address and phone#. She tried to say they did contact me, yet there’s absolutely no evidence of it and they can’t even pull up the supposed emails they say they’ve sent because- “We don’t handle that, it’s done internally”?? Yea, ok… these reminders were just simply never sent, otherwise they would find them themselves and prove it to you. Disregarding attitude and zero accountability, no other clinic will have the nerve to tell you this. Trust me I deal with this often. Again, our family has four different dogs, I’ve had pets for many years, and we just got fined a hefty price for just the one dog that we took to this specific clinic. Lesson learned, stay away and save yourself the hassle and violation$$$
