When I go to a hair salon, I expect to feel relaxed and pampered. I look forward to it because it’s not a splurge I make frequently. Even though Maribel’s place is small and lacked a spa like ambiance, latinos typically have a way of making you feel right at home so I decided to give it a go. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment! I spent a total of 7-ish HOURS at this salon, with only about 2-ish hours of which was actually spent on my hair, while the other 5 were waiting to be attended. As a first time customer, it made a really bad impression! When I arrived I was greeted and told to find a seat. There is a lack of seating so I had to sit in a dryer chair. It wasn’t until an hour after arrival that Maribel came over and asked what I wanted. She apologized for the delay and said she was wrapping things up and would be with me shortly. The delay was forgiven until I sat there for another hour waiting. At 4:15, I finally got up and said I was leaving. Again, she apologized and had someone else put a toner in my hair to get me started. After this was done, probably 30 mins total, I sat there yet again for another 2 hours and watched a handful of customers come in and out while I waited. Again, I thought about leaving with just toner, but I wanted my hair done so badly that I stayed. The worst part is that the wait was not worth it. I’m not happy with my hair! I asked for balayage and got regular highlights. It’s not even the blonde color I asked for. My inspo pic showed caramel blonde and she did an ash blonde that is borderline white AND several people have told me it looks gray 😖 it looks nothing like my reference pic. The lady who toned and washed my hair has absolutely no clue what she is doing. She kept splashing water in my face with no regard to it going all over the place. The water was cold and she didn’t massage the shampoo into my hair. When she put the second toner, she barely left it for a minute. It was like a quick dab, rub and rinse. I also had hair dye all over the inside of both of my ears and was walking around like that for an entire day before noticing. The chair was uncomfortable and I thought I was going to strain my neck just from trying to lean back. NOTHING about this experience was relaxing or made me feel pampered. The only reason I gave a second star is because they seem like nice people, but unfortunately that doesn’t make up my time or $250 spent down the drain! Now I have to go and pay someone else to correct it. If all of that wasn’t bad enough, imagine trying to go to the bathroom in the pitch black because the light doesn’t work so you can’t see anything and then being out of toilet paper. Lastly, I’m all for supporting small businesses, but was shocked there was a $9 FEE to pay with your debit card. Sadly, they lost the opportunity to retain a customer.

Requested style: I have thick course hair that takes an act of God to bleach out. Live this place. They used the cap and brought the hair strands down below that horrible orange that one has to go through. Before the bleaching, my neighbor thought I died my hair black. I'm 81 and black hair would make my wrinkles stand out, looking more like Elvira. Ugh. Now I have the ultra blonde streaks. Thank goodness.

Very friendly people with a personable environment. Very down to earth. I got my hair done with Katia she did an amazing job. I got highlights, with a layered trim, and styled. I would definitely go back. Great pampered day!!!

Love, love, love this place. I was very afraid to see a stylist after my hair was burned by chemicals during treatment. I went to see Katia at Maribel’s. She was so gentle with my hair! Advised me on the best options and was definitely honest. Did not get overcharged and the ambiance was relaxing. Waiting another 4 weeks to continue my hair treatments. Thank you Maribel and Katia!

I went to this salon to get some highlights done, I showed them what I wanted and they did absolutely nothing of what I asked for, just a few highlights and cuts and they charged me a lot! It's a shame but I won't return to this place!!
