The service was fantastic! We were a walk up customer and he helped us find the best car for the best price for our trip. We had a tire pop on us mid trip and called this location to find out what to do and he assured us of the steps. Great location with helpful staff and great attention to care.

Great experience, ask for Stetson when you book. Very helpful & knowledgeable, only location in town that I ever rent from.

This location always takes care of me as I rent almost every weekend. Good variety of cars and always try and put me in a vehicle I like. Another bonus is being able to shop in Walmart if needed — plus they are open on Sundays!

Stay away from this location …… they made me wait 2 hours for a car to match my reservation then charged my card twice and when I returned they charged 100 more for 2 being 2 hrs late returning. DO NOT TRUST ANYONE AT AVIS IN ST AUGUSTINE!

Shocked by all of the negative reviews here. I've been using the Budget/Avis inside Walmart for months, and it is by far the best service I have ever gotten at any rental car place. Always willing to help out with anything I need, and always have what I'm looking for in stock. Stellar communication, and I always enjoy the conversation while checking out. I look forward to continuing to do business with this branch for the foreseeable future, and strongly recommend this location for anyone looking for a rental car in St Augustine.

At approximately 1045 am on June 2, 2024, I arrived at the Avis Rental location which is inside Walmart Store #579 (2355 US Highway 1 South, St. Augustine, FL 32086). I was arriving to pick up reservation an online reservation. When I entered the rental pick-up area of the Walmart Store, the gentleman (possibly named Jeff - Caucasian male, 50s, brown hair, facial hair, wearing a colorful shirt) working was on the phone with another customer. He was rudely telling that customer that their problem was not of his concern and he was directing them to the 1-800 number for Avis. Upon hanging up the call, he sternly asked if we were there for Avis or Budget. I confirmed Avis. He asked for an ID and credit card. The reservation was under my credit card and the reservation name was under my partner’s name, Kyle, as I wanted him to be the driver of the rental.
Kyle handed “Jeff” his ID and began to insert his credit card. “Jeff” immediately took an attitude and oddly began yelling about the inconvenience because the ID (Kyle’s) didn’t match the credit card used for the reservation (mine). I didn’t even have a chance to explain the situation or simply get out the correct credit card. The immediate aggression and unnecessary confrontational approach was startling. I responded with defense to which “Jeff” had the audacity to tell me that he didn’t have to take “my” attitude and that we could go elsewhere. At this point, my partner and I mutually agreed that we would indeed take our business elsewhere. “Jeff” then aggressively stepped out from behind the desk and demanded we leave the premises which we were already in the process of doing. I felt that my safety and my partner’s safety were at risk at this point in time. As I acknowledged above, I did respond to “Jeff’s” initial aggression and I let him know that we were upset; however, his response was grossly disproportionate in both aggression and provocation. Neither myself nor my partner made any threatening statements to this man or his safety. However, we both felt that our safety was in jeopardy. He also threatened to sue us. I’m not exactly sure what legal grounds “Jeff” would have and the comic anecdote here is that my partner, Kyle, is a barred, practicing attorney.
Upon leaving, I quickly changed the Avis pick-up location to the branch located at 340 State Road 16 in St. Augustine about 5 miles away. I didn’t have the ability to search for another rental company given my time constraints or I would have completely canceled the reservation with Avis at that point. This caused me to have to pay for a second Uber to get to the revised pick-up location. The clerk at that location, Rami assisted us without issue and was extremely pleasant. I simply asked Rami if he ever had any other customers come to his Avis location from the branch located in Walmart. He stated that “every day” he has customers come to his location after having frustrations with the branch inside Walmart. He was even shocked at the quick details I provided him of what led us to his location.
In conclusion, I am a 34 year old professional and I can safely confirm that I have never been spoken to in such a manner by someone in a customer service position without previous provocation. It is concerning that this man has clear anger management issues and is working with the general public. It’s further concerning that Avis allows this. “Jeff” reflects so poorly on Avis and also reflects poorly on Walmart for allowing a tenant of their store to behave in this manner under their roof. The Google reviews of this Avis branch seem to have a myriad of complaints as well. It’s astounding that Avis allows a branch that is clearly problematic to continue to operate with zero repercussions.

Go anywhere but here. Worthless lowlife attendant left early and I couldn't get my reservation. Good thing Enterprise rent a car was open so I could cancel this reservation and go there.

Do not rent from this place. I placed a reservation 3 weeks in advance , paid in advance. Then when I show up the day of the guy at the counter tells he he has nothing for me and haven't had anything for weeks. He really acted like I was bothering him . They couldn't even call to tell me they wouldn't have the car I paid for.

Was charged 60 dollars for returning a one day rental an hour late. Wasn’t notified when I turned the key in. Should have kept it an extra day.Edit - just emailed Avis’s response with email and it came back undeliverable twice! What a nightmare this is.
