Interesting store, not well organized, understaffed with the guy that was doing the cashiering was really nice. The store was not real clean.

I honestly don't know why I go to this store. "Just take a look", I tell myself. "I don't need anything", I tell myself. "They won't have anything I want", I tell myself. "I probably shouldn't even bother going in", I might tell myself. But then again, "I don't get down here often, so why not pop in?", I ask myself. So...I go in...the rest is history! I don't think I've ever entered this Big Lots without buying something...even if it is just something small. Because..."it won't be there later or if you change your mind" I tell myself. Ugh! Dangerous store! LOL! I seriously find some great items here...mostly snacks and things that are on closeout, but it's fun to try the items anyway. I like getting little tidbits as extras for gift bags that are unique for an additional item(s) to a gift, and Big Lots does not disappoint. I'm also a fan of their garden section. I can get certain things and once the sun or heat destroys things at the end of the summer it's out with the old and in with the new later. Although they have some good finds, I can't recommend going in here unless you want to, and/or don't mind, spending money. The beauty of it is though, you will save money too...I hope that makes sense! The store is easy to find and there is a huge parking lot with more than ample parking. The staff is always friendly. There are restrooms available inside. They have a discount program. Moreover, they offer a military discount.

I bought two solar powered Christmas lights sets at Big Lots in St Augustine FL.
They cost $14.99 each plus tax. Biggest waste of $30 for Christmas. One string only worked for 7 days and the other string stopped working on day 10. Do not buy Christmas lights from Big Lots.

I have shopped at this store for many years. My husband is a disabled veteran currently in a wheelchair and no longer drives or makes outings other than to doctors appointments. I have always used the veterans discount here for years until today when an extremely rude employee named Elisha refused to honor it, saying he had to be there. I had his dd214, my drivers license, and credit and debit cards with his name and mine. When I got home, I looked up the policy which states “veterans, active duty members, AND THEIR FAMILIES get 10% off qualifiying purchases”. The BL website states military/veteran ID must be produced, which I had. NO WHERE does it say anything about familes not being eligible if the veteran is not with them, only that ID must be produced, which I have done there many times with no issues. She went on to say that an ex wife could be using the dd214 fraudelnty, she was a real jerk to make such statements or assumptions. She should be ashamed of herself and needs a new job. I called the 800 number and filed a complaint. There are a few items I get there specifically but I will look for them elsewhere. With her attitude, I doubt she will be there long. If there is a Next time, I will have the online policy printed out.
