St. Augustine FL. July 2022 Needed a car for a week while mine was in the shop. I reserved the car over the phone and was given two options to pay, prepay in full or pay at counter. I chose pre-pay for $269. BUT was NOT told it was NON-Refundable. I found this out the from the rental reps I picked up the car from. They do not have capability to override, change or modify a pre-pay registration. I dropped the car off two days later, called customer service (now the 4th time in 2 days) was placed on hold for over 30 minutes the third time and was hung up on when the rep said, "hold on I will see about getting a refund for you". I am owed $90 by this company. Also- in the pick up contract it does NOT state the pre-pay is non-refundable- only the drop off receipt does. In short, AVIS/Budget charged me $269.16 for a week long rental that was only used for 2 days, did not verbally or in writing state the pre-pay option is not refundable before getting the car. Enterprise quoted me $317 with a pick up!

My Son is a Naval Officer and came to St Augustine to visit Mom & Dad after a very long deployment. He rented a car in St Augustine so he could enjoy his leave. After driving around on the first day of the rental, he parked the vehicle in our driveway. The following morning the car would not start. We called the rental office and they sent a service to see if they could get the car going. He jumped it and it started. Nothing was left on to drain the battery. We did not feel confident driving this car to Jacksonville so we returned the vehicle to the facility. Two weeks later we received a bill for the service call of 218.00. After a few heated conversations with Budget/Avis the bill was waived, but not before they attempted to negotiate the amount. Excuse me but this is your car that was not in top working order! I feel bad for how many people you have rolled over with the same approach that you took with our Son who serves or country! Shame on you!

NOT a rental car place at all. It's the back end of truck delivery warehouse. The closest Budget/Avis store from this spot is 23 mins away, on Atlantic Blvd.

Received a claim for damages to a vehicle in the mail today from this fraudulent agency. We took pictures upon pick up thank god. Do not trust them - they don’t operate like professional rental car agencies.

Do not waste your time. I made a reservation as they required and said they have plenty of cars for a Sunday afternoon. They close at noon. I called to verify at 10 and no one answered phone. So we drove up there and not a soul in site,, DESPITE having reservations. If zero stars were an option I'd do that. Very poor business practice,,, GOOD NEWS THOUGH,, Hertz is in the same terminal and without a reservation and a lower price they put me in an SUV vs Budgets economy car price. Budget NEVER AGAIN

The self proclaimed “owner†of this location LIED about the location of a car we had just rented and nearly cost my mom $1,000. She flew here overnight and, running on 3 hours of sleep, she accidentally left her phone in her rental car. She uses that phone to run her business and it is very important to have since she's visiting from out of state! She realized she must have left it at Budget, either on the counter or in the car. So we called and told the “owner†about her phone being left either at the counter or in the car, and he told us that they were closed and anyway, her specific car has already been rented again and the person was driving it to miami. He said he would call the lady in the car to see if she had seen the phone. He called back a couple minutes later claiming he had talked to this lady and she said she didn't see the phone and she can't look for it because she's driving.... so we drive back to the location to see if it had been left at the counter and the car IS SITTING THERE RIGHT WHERE WE LEFT IT! This is a very small rental place and he knew that the car was still there. I knew as soon as we talked to him that he was lying because a lot of what he was saying wasn't adding up. Come to find out, he was just too lazy to drive back to the budget to help her look for her phone. He apparently just leaves that location and answers a cell phone from wherever he is. Anyway, the guy at the Hertz counter helped her get the phone out of the car and the day was saved by him. And then on the ride home THE DUDE CALLS BACK and proceeds to spew out another huge lie that he had come up with because the hertz guy had to call him to get the key and he obviously knew he had been caught in his lie. He was EXTREMELY defensive and rude on the phone and argued with me and KEPT lying to us. I am in law enforcement and I can tell when I'm being lied to and I absolutely did not appreciate the disgusting way this guy handles his customers. Absolutely disgraceful. Needless to say... BRING YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE unless you like being treated like an idiot.

Car filthy and stained. Driver's side window is loose, so it whistles insettlingly whilst on the highway or going over 40 mph. Car was obviously not cleaned before it was approved for the next user. At the counter my husband was told that there were no luxury cars left, so instead we paid a lot of money for a Mazda three door piece of tin. We will be returning it and spending more time from our brief vacation at the rental car agency to remedy their wrongs.
