We move the mission and the heart of this place and its founder, Robin. Sad to hear she is no longer with us, but we are very grateful that the Vision is carried on to help animals, and people like us, in need. In 2009 we adopted our beloved dog Wiley from SAFE and had 14 wonderful years together out west. We came back this winter for sailing adventures and swung by SAFE in St Augustine in hopes of finding our next Fur Family member. No luck this trip but we had someone very particular in mind—lots of other wonderful dogs and cats for others! Please remember to spay/neuter your animals so we can prevent the inhumane cycle of overbreeeding and euthanasia. We’re so very grateful for places like SAFE that do not kill unwanted animals. ✨???♥️???

Wonderful place supporting an even more wonderful cause. Beautiful people with massive hearts. I’ve never met so many sweet and gentle little hippos (pit mixes). Makes me so sad that no one wants to give them love and a forever home but at least they are S.A.F.E. now.I so wish I could take them ALL. I love this rescue and also often find great treasures at the thrift store. ❤️ ?

This is a lovely thrift store with a great purpose! They have a wide variety of gently used items avaliable, the prices are inexpensive, and the proceeds go to helping pets. I found some household items I needed and felt good knowing where my money was going. I highly recommend visiting this thrift store. It's conveniently located and easy to access. The staff is friendly and you can even bring your dog in with you!

We recently adopted our fur baby from SAFE. The people were so friendly and helpful. I especially want the thank Brian who talked with us about our fur baby Jerry and confirmed we were making a great decision. I could tell he meant a lot to Brian. Jerry will be spoiled rotten. He has his own patio chair and loves his new family

We visited cat cafes and looked in pet stores but we found our lovely lady here at safe. It may not be as fancy as a cat cafe, but you can see the cats anytime at no charge, and they are very loved and everyone there is warm and helpful. A couple weeks after adopting her, she developed a small upper respiratory infection, and they gave us some antibiotics for her and were very helpful. Thank you Patricia and Karen!

Update:S.A.F.E. Pet rescue contacted us last night and they were very apologetic and ready to reimburse us Ronin’s medical bills. Luckily his brother Stash(Who’s name will be changed shortly) had been returned. Since they are a none profit we did not want to take money away from them. So we asked for his brother and agreed that everything was settled. Ronin was so happy to see his brother. They have not stopped playing ?⬛ ❤️ ?⬛I adopted a kitten on Sat 8/26/23. While at the shelter my kitten had a brother with a noticeable soar on his paw. We asked about it and we’re told the kittens who were free roaming with all the other cats had been treated for ringworm. 4 days after getting my kitten home his hair started falling out with red soars. We took him to our vet and they confirmed that he still has ringworm and was highly contagious! I have called the stores and the website number multiple times. Nobody has called me back. I messaged their Facebook to ask it they would reimburse me his medical bills and possibly give me his brother who obviously also still has ring worms so they could go through treatment and quarantine together. Mind you it is a 4-6 week quarantine. They ignored my reimbursement question and have only responded that his brother who’s name was Stash had been adopted by someone else! I hope whoever you are they contacted you about the ringworm that is highly contagious to other animals as well as people and is spread through spores which means every cat that is currently in their cat area could be infected. You could catch ringworm just by visiting their facility at this time. It has been almost a week and I don’t appreciate the lack of response or responsibility from S.A.F.E. everyone has a busy schedule including me. Beware

We brought in a stray cat that we caught in a live trap on NAS JAX naval base in Jacksonville FL and were able to have it vaccinated, deflead, and spayed. We were able to pick it back up the next morning and return it to it's area. They chipped it, clipped it's ear and vaccinated free of charge. They simply ask for a Donation to help them be able to continue providing their services to the public.

The people who work here really care about the animals. The adoption process is easy, but does take a while. While you wait for your application to go through, you can play with the animals and walk around the thrift store. The pets seem happy and loved.

Honestly, the entire staff responsible for the animals are incredibly rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend adopting from this place as they are simply not even wanting to deal with anyone who walks in the door which is sad because the animals there need a home. When trying to ask questions about the facility, as I had never been there, the woman at the dog adoption section was not allowing us to even enter into the dog area or answer any questions. Don’t even waste your time trying to patronize this business.

WARNING!!!! They had the puppies in a disgusting room that smelled putrid of at least a week of old Feces and urine, most likely only the newspaper’s are picked up but no sanitation process is being done. I am appalled at the state these animals are in! The puppies acted like they were abused by tucking tails crouching and hiding, there were sick kittens mixed with healthy cats. Wheezing eye infection and bubbly runny nose. Caren the head of the dog department not sure of any other positions she holds in the department she was unprofessional and in my honest opinion does not have the emotional stability to be working with animals of any sort.

You'll find kind, hard working women running around loving on, and nurturing all those animals with big hearts when you walk into S.A.F.E. What a great place to adopt from, and I love knowing my adoption fee went to help take care of all those animals in there. The animals are all very well taken care of in a clean and warm environment. We adopted two kittens who couldn't be any sweeter and have great temperament, signs of really good care. I wish this adoption agency all the good luck in the work that they do and our family is thankful for them.

Nice little thrift store. Reasonable prices. This is more for household things and less for collectors, but you might find some goodies. Staff is super friendly

I absolutely adored S.A.F.E. and their staff. They were so very friendly and helpful. We shared conversations about our pets and I mentioned I was missing my 3 cats. They recommended I go upstairs and "rent a cat" for a short period, it was amazing. Please adopt from here! So many good kitties who need a forever home.

Great organization working to place animals in loving homes. Thrift store has lots of treasures to find.Only drawback is the parking lot is small, but you can work around that
