Second Read Books is a small, intimate, and eclectic gem of a used bookstore in the heart of St. Augustine's historic district, behind Flagler College. It has been in business for 30 years and enjoys a great following. The shop has a friendly, welcoming, and cozy atmosphere with a kind of treasure hunt feel. Books are in marvelous condition and are organized by topic, displayed in short stacks. While not strictly alphabetized, the fun is in browsing to find your next read. The shop offers a great selection of gently used books at discounted and great prices. It does not have a lot of new inventory, but the selections can broaden your horizons. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely sweet. They are accommodating and will hold purchases while customers enjoy the city. The shop even offers a credit system for donated books. It is open seven days a week with hours that cannot be matched. Second Read Books is one of those hidden gems you wish you could find in every town and is highly recommended for bookworms and casual readers alike.
I just recently learned about this shop, so we stopped in while in St Louis today. Not only are they very welcoming, but we were made to feel like we were long time customers chatting while shopping and checking out. We will be back!

LOVE THIS PLACE! the owner is so sweet and she is well versed in all genres and apparently a safe because she knew exactly what I would be interested in, despite never meeting her before today and having a brief conversation. Left with two books and this will be a must stop every time I come back to St Augustine.

The staff is so sweet. While we were there the lady working even helped someone who broke her glasses by giving her a pair of readers she had in her desk. So sweet and patient. Will definitely come back when we visit.
