Clean hotel but very noisy location due to high traffic. Was supposed to get a room with 2 Queen size beds, got two double beds. Very forgettable experience.

It's functional for one night. The view of the water is pleasant. On the other hand, the train runs at the foot of the establishment, the humidity eats away at everything and the floor is slippery. It's quite old.
Our air conditioning was very noisy, various noises including fluid noises that we had not had in other hotels.

This hotel was conveniently located walking distance to downtown. We didn't need to UBER. McDonald's across the street and Zaxby's next door was convenient. The rooms were nice with everything you needed inside. There is no elevator that we could find to get to the second floor, but it didn't lose a star from us. The restaurant inside smelled delicious. Front Desk was friendly. We go to St. Augustine frequently and we will definitely be staying at The Ponce again.

I stayed here for a little weekend getaway. I love visiting St. Augustine and could never get tired of what the town has to offer!
This spot was close to the historical central, and I walked to everything. The downside is this hotel is located across a very busy street with multiple lanes. I would not find it ideal if you had young children and had to cross it.
The room was very clean. The ac worked perfectly. My room faced the back of the building and had a beautiful view of the river. It also was next to the train tracks, which I found out quickly at 4am. Another thing I didn't think of but quickly found out was, yes it's pet friendly, so yes we heard a dog barking all night.
I wasn't turned off from staying here again. Just keep in mind some of my experiences that may not be fit for everyone.
Nearby activities: Close to a lot of attractions
Walkability: Close enough to walk to restaurants, shops, and attractions
Food and drinks: Lots of available options

We were evacuated from our home to stay here during the hurricane. Sadly, everyone was forced to leave in the middle of the hurricane, including several families with babies and special needs families. There were children on the street because of this hotel and I'm disgusted because of it. Do not support this hotel. (The reason for kicking everyone out was that the power was going to go out... and the power never went out. We can see that it's still on almost 10 hours later..) Very sad display of character from the owner and manager if you ask me. 0 ?stars if I could..
EDIT: The reply from the hotel is bull****! You kicked out FAMILIES with children (we were walking down the street in 38mph winds with 2 children & debris flying around, roads flooded, etc). The hurricane wasn't over until 7pm. It was 3pm when everyone was kicked out. ALSO, the family of 5, with two children under 3 years of age, had to pay for an Airb&b across the street (this is how we know the electricity was still on hours later...) You never reached out to hotels to accommodate THAT'S A LIE..
Also, these families all had two or more nights paid for. I hope you're giving their money back.. How dare you say you tried to accommodate and that children were not on the street. I have pictures and videos of you want proof. I'm baffled by this response.

Great location if you have a car. Would have to cross a 4 lane highway to go to the Dennys or McDonald's. Not recommended.
Hot tub was broken. Trains are loud at night. Staff friendly and professional.

Pool was filthy , hot tub did not work and had stagnat water with mold , alge , no breakfast and awful coffee. Quality does NOT reflect the price I think we were charged too much for a hotel like that. Online they made it look wonderful and it looks a step up from motel 8 In person. The parking is also crappy . Rooms were decently clean but the beds were rough.

The room itself is decent. Feels like a days inn with a face lift. However, we had some experiences that made the stay quite bad.
1. The hotel will advertise free parking, pool, and wifi, but when you check in, they demand a $15 charge per day for those amenities, citing that third party booking websites are “bad about communicating the fees”. Sounds disingenuous and dubious business practice.
2. The first room we went to smelled like an ashtray, and we found a cigarette butt in the toilet. Luckily, they put us in a different room immediately, but it left some doubts on whether they even clean the room properly and thoroughly.
3. The doors to the room is accessible to outside. We had a random man “visit” and banged on the door trying to get into the room around midnight. If you do decide to stay here, I highly recommend using the deadbolt.
Overall, definitely do not recommend. Spend a bit more to go to nicer hotels.

*Be aware, you will pay extra for your car to stay the night too! They call it an amenity charge. * Hotel is nice for the price, the first room they put us in had a really loud dog next door (adjoining room) and my daughter will not be able to sleep though that. Second room was nice for the price we paid for it except they charge $15 for amenities such as parking!! They should disclose that in their listing, kinda like a bait and switch. If had I known that, I would've went to the hotel up the street for $20 more that didn't charge for parking. There is no FREE CONTINENTAL breakfast included in your rate. As to where the hotel up the street we stay at normally has Continental breakfast and no charge for amenities. The reason I gave it three stars is because the room is pretty nice for the price, clean, microwave and fridge, products for showering, you can't beat the rate and it's right next to the trolley welcome Center, close to downtown so can't argue with that. They do have free Wi-Fi believe it or not, I thought for sure they were going to charge for that.
Nearby activities: Real close to The historic St Augustine area, also right next to the trolley station so if you wanted to take a trolley around St Augustine you can get picked up and dropped off over there as well as buy tickets.
Walkability: It's quite a ways away from downtown via walking but it's doable, it's not that far away but there are places in the immediate area such as places to eat.

The front desk was super loud and rood. She was screaming on me from the door because she saw my dog. She was screaming without stop about 15 minutes. It was worst front desk what I saw in my life

My family and I were placed here the day before hurricane Milton hit. We live on a sailboat and decided to evacuate. The same day we checked in someone came to our door having us sign a waiver stating that if the power goes out, we are willing to stay even with no power. We have no other option so we signed. We never lost power through the storm. The day AFTER the actual hurricane hit, we were still getting up to 50MPH wind gusts and some rain. They decide that at the last minute (4pm) they wanted to evacuate everyone in the hotel leaving most with NO WHERE to go! Including me, my husband, teenage daughter and 2 toddlers. Their reasoning behind this was because "they will be shutting the power down for the night" that's all they could say. And offer a refund which would probably take a week to even get back. Bull crap excuse if you ask me. Anyways, we figured something else out so we decided to walk by this hotel later on that night to see if they really "shut the power off". They most indefinitely DID NOT turn the power off. THIS PLACE LEFT FAMILIES ON THE STREET "OFFERING A REFUND AND ANOTHER MOTEL ELSEWHERE AND THEIR "PRICES" AND NOW THEY ARE LYING SAYING THEY DIDNT LEAVE FAMILES OUT ON THE STREET! WE WERE GOING THROUGH A NATURAL DISASTER AND THIS PLACE COULD HAVE CARED LESS WHAT HAPPENED TO EVERYONE THAT THEY JUST THREW ON THE STREETS! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!
