I stayed here for a few days after moving out of my house on an interstate move. I had my 2 cats with me so I didn't book a regular room. And yet I was comfortable and happy. I needed to extend an additional day..which was no problem for hotel. The small details that made this such a nice stay are too numerous to detail but the cat treats with my cats names on them really was sweet and left a great impression. The staff is wonderful and helpful. Breakfast was great. There is a separate sitting area to read and be quiet. Tea and coffee is available in this area all day. I will def come back without the cats and book the Marilyn Monroe suite. The only thing I could suggest is the addition of black out curtains. The light from outside was a bit bright but if you're tired enough, you can get over it quick. Thank you for making my stay so nice.

I enjoyed speaking to the manager, and front desk clerk (Kathy) about the history of the hotel. The Sunset Hotel (Crystal Bay) hosted many notable guests since 1915. I was privileged to work for former owner, Leland Thorp, at the hotel in 1970-1971. The furnishings, dining room and holiday decorations were beautiful. The room was very comfortable. And the ambience reflects the hotels old world charm! Brought back many memories.Noteworthy details: Very historic.

This is a very nice hotel to stay at centrally located to everywhere you need to go whether to the beaches, St. Pete, Tampa and Clearwater. The owner, management and employees make this hotel feel like home with their exceptional customer service, amazing food and cleanliness. They also have a really nice piano for the musicians that want to play while you're here. Its a great place to come for spiritual healing and relaxation. If you want to upgrade you can stay in Babe Ruth's room or Marilyn Monroe's room.

We enjoyed our short stay at Crystal Bay. I loved that our room had 2 bathrooms with 2 separate rooms. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of options. The lobby and library area was so beautiful and quaint. Check in was a breeze as they send out a text and email with detailed contactless check in. This will definitely be our go-to hotel to stay for any future visits to the area.

We stay here in May and October every year. We got married at the courthouse in may and had a wedding in October, so we celebrate both anniversaries at the crystal bay. Also my birthday is in may and my wife’s birthday is in October. We feel welcomed every time we stay here. The rooms are clean and beautiful and we enjoy our time together in may and October

We stayed here along with several members of our car club. I really dig historic buildings and learning their history, so this was right up my alley. The staff reached out on the afternoon we were heading down just to let me know they'd sent all my check-in details via text and email (which, at first I thought was odd), and that whole process was so very helpful! I appreciated having the door codes in my text messages to refer back to all weekend..Historic property, so there is only one elevator at the north end of the building. There is a self-serve convenience station set up right beside it with extra towels, soap, and a cooler with pre-bagged ice. The downstairs lobby area is very charming with chairs and sofas, an ice water and coffee station, and a small antique-inspired radio playing soft music. There is a dining room where buffet breakfast is served (nice touch), including scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breads and fruits, as well as a waffle iron. The coffee isn't bad either! We didn't get to use the pool, but that whole area looks lovely..The rooms are small, but that is expected with the age of the building and what its gone through during its existence. Our room was exceptionally clean, and included a microwave and a small fridge. Thankfully we brought a multi-plug strip (the ones you take on a cruise) for device charging as there was only one outlet accessible. The A/C was nice and cold. There's not any counter top space in the bathroom, but there was a small shelf above the sink to the right for your toothbrush, etc., and a small side table next to the shower..And lastly, the bed. I wish I could give it a glowing review, but alas, I cannot. Our bed seemed to be an older spring mattress, so lots of bounce to it. My husband and I seemed to end up in the middle in the morning as if we had rolled down the sides of a V. The pillows were a bit on the lumpy side as well. Needless to say we didn't get good sleep. One other thing that we didn't find pleasant was the Glade plug-ins everywhere. The scent was a bit overwhelming and it seemed every outlet on the 2nd and 3rd hallway had one. These two things are the only reasons I didn't give a 5th star..The staff were amazing- all of them. I loved learning the history of the building, and watching sunset from the front. Within walking distance to The Wheelhouse where you absolutely must get the wings. Quiet property- it's on the outer edge of a residential area. Publix is a 4 min drive away.

We were married on the beach, with the entire party staying at the crystal Bay hotel and having the reception there! It was perfect! The beds and pillows are very comfortable and breakfast was exceptional! The only thing I would change would be to put us directly on the beach with a balcony. Treasure island beaches are very close though.
