I just wrapped up the three-day Marbling: Eco-Friendly Fabric Printing course with Natalie Stopka at Aya Fiber Studio, and it was such an incredible experience! From the studio setup to the instruction, every detail was thoughtfully planned and executed to create a welcoming and enriching environment.
The studio itself is fantastic—spacious, organized, and well-equipped. Large work tables comfortably accommodated two people each, and the space included all the essentials: a kitchenette, half bath, work sinks, and even access to an outdoor parking lot for drying projects. Suzanne, the studio owner, truly went above and beyond. She provided coffee and delicious light breakfast items each morning (donuts, coffee cake, and fresh fruit), helped with lunch recommendations and catering orders for anyone who didn’t pack a lunch, and even organized optional after-class activities like group dinners to foster community among attendees.
The course was just as impressive. Natalie Stopka is not only a master of eco-friendly fabric printing but also an incredibly kind and generous teacher. She shared her deep knowledge and practical tips with so much patience and enthusiasm, creating a perfect learning environment for both beginners and experienced marblers. The other attendees were equally wonderful—welcoming, collaborative, and genuinely interested in learning and sharing. As a hobbyist marbler and first-time class taker, I felt completely at ease, included, and supported every step of the way.
Overall, this was a truly wonderful experience, and I can’t recommend Aya Fiber Studio and Natalie Stopka highly enough. My only hope for the future is that more weekend classes will be offered to make these opportunities accessible to those with weekday work commitments.
If you’re thinking about taking a class here, go for it! You’ll leave inspired, connected, and with new skills to bring to your craft.
