Some consider it the best hotel in America. I can safely tell you it’s not even the best in Florida. 😬
The FS in Palm Beach & Orlando are legit 5-star properties, but this one was a let down, and for $1,700/night. Yes.
If you go, go in high season, because in the summer it’s quite clear, they’re not very interested in you. It’s not a world class experience in low season.
We had cold interactions with the gentleman on their side entrance off Collins (not main entrance). He continually disagreed with everything I said. It was really weird.
No open doors to vehicle or hotel entry.
He shouldn’t be interacting with guests. Just a strange guy.
Front desk agent was not warm and genuine in anything. She acted like the assistant to a successful personal injury attorney, and looked like one too. Didn’t smile at all.
Great breakfast. Best orange juice I’ve ever had. Waiter was from Italy. Good guy, but his service style is very European, so you hardly ever see him, which was strange. But a real good guy.
Hotel was quiet in late July.
Pool layout is very strange. Kids pool was actually colder than adult pool. No hot tubs.
Trash floating in waterfall behind kids pool
Poolside bathrooms reminiscent of an Appalachian ymca community pool.
Bottom of doors rusted out, hallways dark and drab.
Saw pool and beach employees giving each other back rubs, consistently scrolling on their phones, standing around doing nothing.
Saw bartenders at Winston’s laughing loudly watching social media videos behind the bar.
Food was very good, as expected.
Decor in hotel is amazing and the sense of place is great. Room (ocean view studio - 700 sq feet) was beautiful and comfortable, but way overpriced for the summer) I actually paid to upgrade so paid like $2,200 for it.
Definitely not worth it. Is FS pricing you out? Yes, probably.
Called once for valet but they forgot to tell the valet.
Front door guys were all good though and friendly.
Waited 20 minutes for vehicle though at 6:30am checkout the next day, which seemed long.
***kayla at the pool was fantastic. She engaged with our kids and went out of her way to bring pool toys and even make a peanut butter jelly with the jam from the employee dining room
Because our kids would like it better***
Everyone else was forgettable.
It was a solid 4 star exp at 5 star/2 Michelin key prices.
If you have kids, don’t come here, go to 1 Hotel, Fontainebleau, or maybe stay north (where it’s still America) and go to FS Palm Beach or The Breakers.
FS Surfside is ideal for a romantic getaway, but for these prices, just go to the Bahamas or Turks & Caicos and get better beaches and more relaxation.
It was a good stay, but it wasn’t what the Internet says it is.

This was my worst experience in a hotel EVER we got there we immediately found holes and rats in the walls. The staff was rude and stuff like that but other than that it was OK. They couldn't take my order for breakfast and they took 1hr till I eventually left.

The Four Seasons at The Surf Club is a luxurious destination steeped in history and charm. Established in 1930, this iconic clubhouse was once the playground of elite socialites, including Harvey Firestone, who transformed it into a glamorous hub where extravagant events were the norm. Among the most memorable tales is the legendary “Arctic Gala,” where live elephants paraded through the ballroom, creating a spectacle that captivated the elite of the day.
Throughout its history, the Surf Club has welcomed a host of illustrious guests, from Winston Churchill and Elizabeth Taylor to Frank Sinatra and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Each of these legendary figures contributed to the rich tapestry of stories that define the club. For instance, Churchill famously had two cabanas, one for watercolor painting and another for relaxing with cocktails, showcasing the blend of leisure and artistry that characterized the club’s atmosphere.
The property has received numerous accolades over the years, including recognition for its exceptional service and luxurious accommodations. The Surf Club’s dining venues have also garnered awards, with Thomas Keller’s Surf Club Restaurant being particularly acclaimed for its culinary excellence, especially for its signature dish: tableside-prepared lobster Thermidor, which has become a must-try for guests.
The bar is a focal point, where expert bartenders craft exquisite cocktails, including the refreshing mojito and classic martini. The staff exemplifies professionalism, wearing immaculate uniforms and gloves. Kyle, one of the bartenders, shares fascinating insights about the club’s history, showcasing pride in his role and the legacy of the establishment.
In addition to the culinary offerings, the property features a huge spa, three temperature-controlled pools, and complimentary beach cruisers for exploring the scenic shoreline path to South Pointe. Guests can enjoy valet parking for $35, and when visiting the bar or restaurants, there’s a $10 discount available. To receive this discount, simply ask your server to validate your ticket in the system by providing your ticket number.
For Florida residents, the Surf Club offers special promotions that provide added value, including discounted rates and exclusive packages designed to make the experience more accessible. Additionally, members of Four Seasons Preferred Partner program, can enjoy additional perks, including room upgrades and daily breakfast for two.
American Express Centurion or Platinum Card holders may also have access to exclusive offers and packages at the hotel. These can include complimentary nights or special dining experiences, enhancing the overall luxury experience.
With exclusive promotions and an ideal location near Bal Harbour Shops and Wynwood, the Four Seasons at The Surf Club is a captivating destination that blends luxury and history, leaving guests with a sense of wonder about the stories and experiences that have unfolded within its walls.

I stayed in the two bedroom suite for $9532/night. There was hardly anything included at this price: The complimentary MOKE was broken and unavailable for our stay. The bikes were unable to be taken anywhere since bike locks were not provided. The house car has a two mile range and was not useful to go anywhere we couldn’t walk already. The travel concierge suggested we go to South Miami for anything like kayaking or jet skiing. My chicken quesadilla $40+ was awful and gave me diarrhea. There was a 20 minute wait to drop off my car in valet. … The staff were all extremely kind and helpful.

This is our 4th time. It is a wonderful experience each time. Hands down the best service, top tier luxury yet so comfortable and laid back. Every staff person knows you by name. The most exquisite lobby and champagne bar room not to be missed.

I've stayed at many four seasons properties, from FS Hawaii, Kyoto, Paris, etc. and this is one of my top 3 properties. Absolutely lovely hotel and team.
We appreciated Augustine's warm welcome at check-in, the attentiveness of Julie from housekeeping, the in-room dining team's accommodations, the pool team's service and care, the extremely kind and safe kids club staff, spa team, the list goes on.
Beautiful beach front property that is both kid/family friendly and tranquil for solo guests.
