Layna Kirkham was an absolute life-saver! After another finance company dropped the ball in the 9th inning, Layna immediately picked the ball up and carried to a touchdown. She even got me a better rate and overall deal than 2 other companies were able to offer. She worked day and night to stay on top of the deal each step of the way. Seriously could not ask for better service or attitude than she provided.. especially given the last minute circumstances!! Highly recommend Ameris Bank and/or anywhere else Layna Kirkman decides to work!

I've had a terrible experience with this mortgage company. I recently thought they had resolved my issue but now they are saying it's not. THEY FAILED TO PAY MY INSURANCE IN TIME SO I WAS DROPPED. And now they are after me to pay for the months where I was not covered by insurance. BUT IT IS THEIR FAULT FOR NOT PAYING FOR THE INSURANCE IN TIME!! I'VE NEVER BEEN SO UPSET WITH A COMPANY!!

I have never experience POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE like the mortgage group at what is now Ameris Bank. When I bought my home in Florida, the bank was called Fidelity. The people were always exceptionally helpful, and I became a loyal customer for all my banking needs until Ameris took them over. While the staff at the local bank is still a great group of people to work with, the mortgage department is actuallly in Illinois and the Douvenule people are NEVER going to speak to you on the phone. They have people who take messages and say someone who has some supervisory powers who may be able to help is UNAVAILABLE RIGHT NOW AND WILL NOT TALK OR EVER CALL YOU BACK. My true story is that they are holding a very large escrow refund that I should have gotten back more that one month ago. Their delaying tactics include sending check to wrong address ( to the place that I sold), then sending a check to some random address that was not mine. Now with COVID I feel that they are exploiting the power to keep my funds in their possession and earn interest because the mail is all taking FOREVER. I asked for an ACH deposit directly into my bank (AMERIS/use to be Fidelity) but alas “they don’t do that”. At least the person who did not let me speak to a supervisor did not think so.IF YOU HAVE ANY CHOICE IN BANKING OPTIONS FOR GETTING A MORTGAGE do yourself a favor and stay away from Ameris. Find yourself someone LOCAL. This is not. Be warned.
