Avis always gets it right “eventually.” The customer service is friendly and management seems genuine in their efforts to resolve issues however the S Monroe street location has a reoccurring problem with cleaning the vehicles. Several times now I have arrived to pick up my vehicle only to be upgraded (without additional charge ?) because vehicle I reserved was not available - usually this is GREAT!. However, more recently the vehicles we were offered have been filthy. One full of dog hair, one smelled like fish, one had some type of very visible sticky substance on the steering wheel and console, and the other had what looked like a Oreo slushy dumped in the backseat along with a few french fries in plain view. Avis really needs to provide a better cleaning service environment for the employees at this location. They are out there working with Shop vacs, water hoses, and Febreze, which is just not enough to effectively clean the quantity of vehicles they have moving through this location. Thank you local Avis staff for your great service I hope Avis corporate will get you guys a better work environment!!

Pre-booked a car with GPS at extra charge, which they did not have. They made me drive to the airport station to pick up a GPS which took me an hour. I even had to buy a parking ticket at the airport.

Building is filthy, reserved a car in the morning and came to pick it up in the evening. Had to wait 30 minutes for an “upgrade of a Prius. Staff was rude and unprofessional.

Worst rental car location in America. Made a reservation 3 weeks in advance. I got to pickup the van at appointed time. No van or any vehicle that can accommodate 6 passengers. Even worse I'm third in line to get a van if one eventually becomes available. Did I get a phone call in advance advising me that a vehicle was available? No, because the manager would not have to be a moron in order to do that. Managed by complete idiots that showed no remorse or contrition or responsibility for their failure.

UPDATEAt the request of the Owner Response, I reached out to the provided eMail. I was apologized to regarding the situation and given a refund of almost 4x the cost for the bottle of washer fluid I had to buy. I will definitely return to AVIS in the future for car rental needs seeing how quickly they wanted to help and the resolution to the problem!ORIGINAL REVIEWHad my first car rental and everything was really smooth and easy. Only issue I had was car was given to me with no windshield washer fluid. Found that out after a big bug splattered in my line of sight on the interstate. Went to wash it off and because of no fluid it just smeared it worse. This does make me concerned on whether they actually check the vehicles between uses. If the windshield washer fluid was empty what other fluids are either not topped off or changed regularly?

We rented a 12-passenger van that had a dent in the door. We were not able to close the door from the inside. The driver or the front passenger had to wait outside to close the sliding door. It was a huge inconvenience.

The one star is to make this review. Arrived at 8:45 my pick up was at 9:00 was told I was there too early and didn't have my reservation. No kind of customer service and didn't offer to accommodate me. Have been a loyal customer for over 20 years but will never return again. Do better for other future customers please

I wish I could go 0 point. There is no point of reservation, they just give you a minivan with awful attitude. The woman at the front desk is terrible, know nothing about the reservation, with all the "do whatever you want" attitude. This place is horrible!

I booked a vehicle 2 weeks prior to my needed date. I confirmed the reservation a few times prior and even did the online check-in, that was texted to me on the date of my reservation. Upon arrival I was informed that there were no vehicles and that'd I just have to wait. Upon asking how long, I was informed they didn't know and "people just weren't returning the cars like they were supposed to" and that I'd receive a text when a vehicle was there. I asked about the numerous vehicles in the lot and was told they weren't available. I left the location and within 30 minutes contacted Avis Customer Service. I inquired as to the process of satisfying reservations and what was their response if no vehicles were available and there response was simply, all I can give you is "I'm sorry." I spoke to at least one rep who claimed to be putting me on hold, just to come back on and again say there was nothing he could do and when I became upset with this response he hung up on me. I waited over an hour for a vehicle to only be told again there were no vehicles and I could wait or just cancel my reservation. As I had a timed engagement, I canceled my reservation and was forced to put the miles on my personal vehicle. Avis truly needs to do a better job of honoring reservations and responding to customers who are now put out because of the "we just don't have any vehicles.'
