Do not recommend. Paid for a car 2 weeks ago just for me to still not have it due to it needing worked on. (All that was wrong with it was a wheel)… I keep getting the run around on when my car will be ready, more stuff keeps getting done to it and then not update me. Not a good first time buyer experience. The wheel they received Friday 2/28/25 was bent, had an appointment 3/3/25 to pickup, just to arrive and them tell me that the wheel they received was bent so they had to send it back and redo it… okay sooo why not update me that Friday or on my appointment day? Writing this on 3/11/25 just to be told once again it’s getting the wheel put on right now (heard that before) and they had to also do something else… (heard that before too) and still told it would be a couple days on the car, which I doubt it’ll be ready then either… basically put a large deposit down on a car to sit at carmax in Tallahassee.

We went here to look at a car, did not fillout ANY credit app, decided against a purchase here. Im getting letters 2 weeks later that they attempted to get me approved for a loan. Will be contacting an attorny.

Buying the car is easy but getting it fixed is SOOOO Not. We paid for Max care and you have to fight with them to get them to adhere to their own contract. On top of which 1 week after purchasing the vehicle the service due light came on. We discovered that they sold the car without servicing it and they had no record of the oil service before they sold it.

Beleive it or not...I bought my Subaru Forester 2016 from Carmax Tallahassee November 01, and since then the car stayed with them more than me due to transmission problem. They replace the transmission, but the problem still persistent. I am spending a lot of time, effort, and money going back and forth to fix my car with them and thier affiliate mechanic shop as it is still under the warranty period. Really I do not know what to do. All in all...I am not happy with the experience and really regret it.

This company sold my family a faulty car and would not replace or repair after 3 attempts. We have tried to turn it in and the company would not refund full amount for our van we purchased. Nor would they issue a new vehicle in replacement of this car that is over heating along with battery issues.

I work at Florida A&M University, Tallahassee. Two months back, I purchased a car from CARMAX, Tallahassee (KIA Forte 2017). From the day till this day every week I had to leave the car at CARMAX for repair. They say the car is fine but very next day it won't start. To the point I got frustrated that I asked for trade-in for other car and to my surprise they said that its current value is only 40% of the purchased value. I suggest to the good people out there at Tallahassee, Please AVOID buying anything from CARMAX, Tallahassee shop.

Bought my second vehicle here. The fuse cover was missing and nobody noticed it during inspection in Tallahassee and Ga. Three weeks later, someone left a voicemail for us to make an appointment and pick up the part. Show up today and they tell me that they need the vehicle to order the part, and then come back to install it . DO YOURSELF S FAVOR AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS CIRCUS!!!!

Patient. Not pushy. No annoying, unctuous salesmen.
Choose something online first. If you ask for the purchase order, it will show you the itemized cost for everything and the final cost. They will not pressure you to sign it if you don't want to.
The downside: they never gave me the payment info. I've been asking, texting, and calling for days.

Great experience buying from CARMAX. Get organized for the paper process, but the contact people and local CARMAX staff were great.
