Mostly cheap tourist-y type shops with the more desperate shop owners trying to lure us in with free samples. The candy store was the one exception and seemed nice. I'd recommend walking past the rest.

The Sponge Exchange is a fairly large group of shops and things to see all in one area. There is a full size sponge boat inside to see and several historic plaques. The area is partially shaded with concrete walkways and a fair amount of seating. This is an easy spot to shop a variety of shops with a minimum of walking.

Fun place, but there is a cosmetics shop there with extremely pushy salesmen! This cosmetics shop is not listed on google, but if you go in, you’ll run into them. Avoid at all costs!!! First they lure you in with free samples, then they say they have some miracle cure for wrinkles and you’ll see results right away. When you see no results they say you’ll see them after two weeks of consistent use. When you say you’ll read reviews online, they say best review is the results you got (which you didn’t actually get). Best part is their snake oil costs 200 dollars! But if you start walking away, they’ll lower the price to $150 (yeah, what a deal). I know sales people have to advertise, but this was so blatant and unpleasant (“do you want your wrinkles to get worse?”) that it really spoiled my experience with sponge exchange.

Shop for tourist junk in my backyard. Great date and friend time place. Come for the sponges and other Greek entertainment and interesting clothes, soaps, jewelry, food, etc
