Just a few months after the lockdown of 2020 I got out to downtown Tarpon Springs for exercise and to shop for unique items for presents. I often like to buy presents in advance of any occasion or event . When I see a little something that might be appreciated by a particular someone I pick it up. Exploring around I discovered the little boutique called " Vegetable Ivory". I had experience with this type of art from a little art shop in Ellicot City , Maryland. I was so pleased to have discovered one relatively close to me. The figurines are called vegetable ivory but is 100% humane because it's carved from the Tagua Nut and NOT animal tusks or bone. The figurines are not machine made or mass produced but hand carved. The figurines are so very detailed and delicately sculpted. No where else can you find hand made art at such accessible prices. Let it be our secret

They discriminate the disabled and their legit Service dog! Not cool!? This is against the Americans with Disabilities act! The owners should educate them selves on the ADA laws!

I love my necklace you guys and am genuinely in love with the pattern and the fact it's sustainably harvested. My pendent is lightweight and made from a Tagua nut - a tree grown in the rainforest and a majority of the jewelry is made from it! I also had my eye on it because towards the back, I found it among others for 50% off and was $8. The artist also makes earrings, animal shaped wine openers, bracelets, navity ornaments, etc. My hubs grandfather bought a fist sized geode for $4 - a fantastic price and he's adding it to his rock garden. Customer service was attentive, friendly & informative - perhaps a change in the previous owner? She kept on educating not only our family but others who stepped through the door about the uniqueness of Tagua nut. You can even park for free after you pass the roundabout - you just need to prepare yourself to parallel park. I also saw a lot of Parking available for $3-$5/day.

Loved the jewelry made from the unique plant. Gave several pieces as gifts. It was hard to pick from all the wonderful designs. We visited last year about this time of year. Going back this week to look for more treasures.

Owner is extremely rude and a j*** to everyone in his store. Walk in with your phone and see what the definition of crazy is. Stay away from this shop I think he needs anger management classes
