SAVE YOUR MONEY.
I went to the Tavares location on June 15th at 1:40 ish and left around 2. My barber was Sheila. I asked for layers, bangs and face framing pieces. The stylist didn’t get my hair wet or shampooed at all. She asked me how much she should take off. I asked her for her opinion. She said 3 inches. Which I was fine with because I know my hair has gotten long and needed the dead ends cut off. She has also told me how long she’s been a stylist.
While cutting, I re-iterated to her 3 times throughout the process that I wanted face framing pieces, and layers. In the end I got a trim of 3 inches done in about 10 minutes. (I will give it to her at least that it was a good trim). Didn’t even sit in the chair, I was asked to stand the whole time because my hair was too long.
She asked me if the trim looked good and I said yes, and then she took off my cape like we were done. At that point I was so frustrated. I felt like I wasn’t being heard and I wanted to leave because she didn’t seem like she wanted to do the work and I didn’t want someone to cut my hair if they aren’t interested in putting in the work.
While leaving she said okay so we cut off 3-4 inches right? And I nodded since that’s what we agreed upon. So she charged me for a cut instead of a trim. Which I wouldn’t have minded if I had actually gotten the cut I had asked for multiple times, instead, what I got was a rushed trim.
She also asked me if I blow dry my hair, I told her no, I pretty much always air dry it, it’s just frizzy because it’s usually curly and I brushed it before I left. I tend to do this because I’m used to them getting my hair wet during the hair cut process and brushing my hair can help detangle it before going even though it frizzes it up. She didn’t care to explain why she asked after either. Didn’t offer any products or solutions if she had thought my hair was damaged. I’m really sad about this because my hair had been feeling flat lately and I was hoping layers and some face framing pieces would give it more volume, but instead I left with a 3 inch trim and feeling like I wasted my money. I emailed Great Clips the day this happened to give them a chance to make things right before leaving this review. They said they sent my message to the salon. Today is September 12th. 3 months and nothing.
My wedding is coming up next month. I went to a different salon (Flying Scissors) this time. I asked again for face framing, bangs, and layers, and this time got what I wanted! Also, I only had to say it once, I got to sit down too as well as a shampoo wash! To top it off, my stylist at Flying Scissors asked me if my hair got dry often, and when I said yes, she told me to fill a bottle with half apple cider vinegar and half water to spray on my hair to help give it better nutrients. She gave me a SOLUTION.
I’ll add photos below to prove my point.
Photo 1 - Me in the blue dress was a week before I got my hair cut.
Photo 2 -Me in the Burgandy shirt was an HOUR after my visit to great clips. As you can see. No face framing and no layers. Literally looks the same.
Photo 3 - Is today, after my visit to Flying Scissors. THIS was what I wanted. Save yourselves the money and go here instead. You’ll get a better cut and better customer service.
Photo 6 - Proof of my email.

As a businessman myself, a good employees worth their weight and gold. My wife and I are an older couple and we abide by that my wife recently walked off the job because the manager Amanda I believe her name is would come in get things going and disappear spend her days in office, and then where is it written that she is supposed to give everyone their days off that they want and whoever complains the most gets the hours that they want seniority is first it’s wrong that your location Gives people weeks off to go on vacation time and time again I’ve never known a business to operate like this. I will be writing a direct letter to corporation and please pass to the owners of that particular business Of course, we all have experience the whining of these last two generations. No one will learn if there’s not an unbreakable set a rules the way this Shop is handled Is very sad. Summertime is a slow season during the busy season in the winter they could not find No one to work for them once it got slow in the spring people who had got laid off from their previous employment cause lack of work from other locations in the same field applied and received the job at this location And their choice of hours that they prefer to work I know all I have is what I hear from the workers there the management is extremely wrong and I will probably have great clips corporation actually, look into this incompetence there is laws regarding employees. Apparently the management here has never been schooled on that law.If you feel appropriate to respond I would be happy to speak more of this.

Horrible haircut but the beard trim was even worse. I specifically asked her if she knew how to properly trim a beard and she claimed she did them all the time, before I knew it she was hacking away at my face with a number 3 guard. I asked her what she was doing and why she wouldn’t ask how much I wanted it trimmed first. She pretty much told me that’s what she thought needed trimmed off and couldn’t understand why I was upset. It took along time and a lot of expensive beard oil to get it where it was, oh well ?♂️ looks like I’m starting over again.

Amanda gave the best hair cut of my life. I was a little obnoxious as I am fussy with my cowlick and overall hair but, she was kind and respectful. Amanda is an artist and true professional at her craft.

I would stay away from this location. I never write reviews but felt like I should warn people after the haircut I received the other day. I've tried giving this location the benefit of the doubt 3 or 4 times, but unfortunately each time my haircuts progressively got worse. Definitely not returning.
