We had a fantastic stay at Thunderbird Beach Resort! The resort is really beautiful and varied, and the logo immediately puts you in a good mood. We were lucky enough to get a room at the top with a sea view, which made us very happy. The rooms are super clean and the receptionists were always friendly and helpful.
We especially enjoyed the cool pool parties in the evenings – a great atmosphere! Of all the hotels we visited during our Florida trip, this was definitely the best. We can only recommend it and would come back at any time!

Room stinks like a wet basement.
Mildew or moldy smell.
No food or continental breakfast.
The location is breathtaking though.

This is a classic beach hotel. No, its not the fanciest. But the service & staff are outstanding. Which for me, outweighs fancy.
I need to specifically mention Kelly at the Tiki Hut...she is awesome!! And another staff member Tiffany...you rock girl!!! You kicked off my birthday just right!
They had live music out by the Tiki Hut in the evening...very entertaining & the singer was so funny.
All on all its was a wonderful experience.

I reserved a gulf front room on their website. Pati (I think that’s the spelling of her name) helped me with an issue and really made my day. I can’t explain how appreciative I am of her extra effort. Our room overlooked the gulf and had an incredible view. Room was a lot bigger than expected, the beds were very comfortable, AC worked really well (room was nice and cool from the moment we walked in until we left), bathroom was a bit tight for two people, kitchen had a little stove top, microwave, cookie utensils, coffee pot, real coffee mugs, toaster, etc. We were only there for a night, but the kitchen itself would be great for cooking if you’re there for longer. Everything was very clean. Tons of restaurants in walking distance. Pool, jacuzzi and outside bar open till 11pm. Live music every night, and only till 830pm (which I thought was great for if you wanted to have a quiet night). Lots of seating outside and cornhole! We plan to come back sometime soon. Really lovely place!

My GF and I had the BEST time there. Our room was ocean view, 20 feet from the pool, tiki bar, and live bands(awesome btw). Security guards were so cool!! Every employee was amazing!! My only thing is the beds could be more comfortable. But they weren't bad.... Room was extremely clean, even to my OCD standards. Wtg Thunderbird!! Two thumbs up!!
Safety: My glasses came up missing...(my fault) there were 3 security guards on it!! I politely asked them to let me double check my room and there they were...smh. But they were all over my alcohol induced insadent...lol. I felt taken care of for sure!!
Food and drinks: Drinks were a bit pricey. $13 but was absolutely delicious!!

A bit run down, but fun and colorful and very lively! The staff was fantastic and friendly. Our suite was great, but it was at the end of the building and the AC was very challenged to keep up with August heat. The hotel quickly checked it was running and brought us some fans, but we had a couple of uncomfortable nights.
Also the restaurant was being renovated, so no food on property during our stay. I’m sure it’ll be great.

We had booked for one night (transit). We were thrilled with the facility, the service and the people here, so we postponed our onward journey and extended one night.
It is very quiet to sleep at night. In the afternoon and evening there is fantastic live music at the pool/bar area. The drinks and the bar staff are great. During our stay there was no choice of food due to renovation, but there are several restaurants and 2 supermarkets in the immediate vicinity.
The hotel is located directly on a very beautiful and quiet beach. All in all, highly recommended!
Rooms: Large and well equipped
Safety: Security personnel on site all day, you almost feel as protected as the president
Walkability: Restaurant, supermarkets, shops and beach within walking distance

Great hotel. We were initially surprised at the price, but in retrospect it was really worth it. Very friendly staff. When the restaurant is finished, you will definitely get great snacks. We spontaneously extended one night.

Destination wedding beware. Read this before booking a wedding at this venue.
I would like to start by saying I don’t do the whole overly critical bad review thing (or reviews in general) ever. We looked at booking this place for our wedding this upcoming spring, however it is very apparent this place is struggling with cash flow and is in need of every cent. First the venue comes in at a very competitive price so that was intriguing. We booked a date with them for 8 days total- 8months out from our date. We canceled our reservation when we realized they will quote unrealistic figures and stair step the quotes up after the fact,(there’s much nicer resorts for an actual beach wedding that’s not 400yards to the water, on Sanibel island that’s the same dollar amount on a side note) however, the reason for the bad review is their business practice or lack there of. We did not have a credit card deposit form that stated non refundable, it clearly says nothing about it. That was signed by myself… with my credit card information attached… However if you cancel they will then tell you it’s non refundable, which is illegal. After attempts to speak with the GM it was met with silence and “we apologize”. Mind you this was a total of 8 days booked-8months out… for a Tuesday wedding. No work had been put in and nobody else in the meantime was looking to book this worn out motel was turned away in that short period of time. To all other destination wedding couples- I would 1000% look else where (Sanibel island). In hindsight their 1 star reviews about cleanliness should be enough to steer you away, prior to reading this rant about them being hard up for cash and lack of professionalism. Hopefully they needed the $525.00 for payroll at least or something, it probably should go to some house keeping and not their “sales manager”- because it definitely seems like they needed it more then we did- obviously 500 bucks is not the end of the world, it’s just the principle at this point. Judging by the other reviews hopefully it’s used it for some commercial cleaning supplies. There are much better beach wedding venues to give your business to that are upfront and straightforward, (again look on Sanibel).
